tolerate fear and hatred. we are about bringing people together, working together along with mark herring. a record amount of jobs, economic investment, lyndon on health care and education. i think what you saw last night, people were happy with the direction of the commonwealth of virginia, and they chose vision over divisiveness come a fear, and hatred. it was a great night for the commonwealth of virginia. i am so excited. we have a great relationship, dorothy and i with pam and ralph for many, many years. we have spent a lot of time together. it was really something special. i'm so proud of ralph and so proud of the campaign he ran. i'm also so excited we just spent lunch talking about the next four years and the great things we're going to be able to get done. >> governor, yielding to serve one term. -- you only get to serve one term. how do you feel today?

last four years, to be able to bring your lieutenant governor to replace you? >> first of all, it is important because of our personal relationship. it was also very important the validation of what we have done over the last four years. we heard it on the campaign trail over and over, everybody said, thank you for the great job in the commonwealth. people have loved what we have been able to do. people are happy with the direction of the state. you saw that most in the polling data. for me, it is a bittersweet moment. i probably have love this job more than anyone. i think people realize that. dorothy and i will move on and i want to thank dorothy's great leadership. we will move onto the next chapter in our lives. we know we are leaving behind the commonwealth in great hands and we accomplished -- if you go to our website, i think 91% of the proposals we

years ago we were able to enact. a question for both of you, when you're going to this campaign process and you're a couple that you hope to lock up and then last night happens. the scale kind of sum that up in what you thought your hopeful for admin what you got. >> first of all, thank you to dorothy and of mcauliffe for your hospitality and your friendship. pam and i cherish that greatly. into the governor's point, we have had a great working relationship over the last four years and have done so many good things for the commonwealth of virginia. i commend the governor and the first lady for their work. it was nice to sit down and have a meal with them and i look forward to carrying on a lot of the great work they have been doing. as far as yesterday, i think it was a message from the commonwealth of virginia, from the voters, that they appreciate what we stand for

turned their state more blue than purple. there was an unprecedented voter turnout by both democrats and liberals, african-americans favored north from over gillespie by 73 point margin. and byc voters favored 33 points. at the vienna metro, many were surprised by the weight of victory experienced by the democratic party. >> i view this election more as a disaster for virginia than a benefit. there doesn'tuse and to be the balance i was hoping to see. >> i was surprised the democrats were able to take control. it looks like they are said to take control of the house of delegates. >> i think about whether for politics in this country. i am hoping things improve. suzanne: president trump is widely disliked and parts of virginia like the urban suburban areas where we are indiana. some see this election as a rebuke on his presidency.

a hard freeze later this week. i will tell you all about it coming up in a few minutes. adrianna: thank you. right now the search is underway for a man who jumped out of a woman inassaulted a woodbridge. suzanne kennedy has more on what happened. suzanne: detectives are wrapping up there on scene investigation here in woodbridge, this all taking place at 6:56 this morning when a woman reports she was assaulted near walnut and sycamore streets. she says a man jumped out of a bush and grabbed her. the victim was able to break free and ran to a local business. the woman was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. for a period of time, there was a helicopter and k-9 units on the scene. right now authorities are looking for a suspect described as 40 to 50 euros male, six feet tall, 195 pounds with facial hair. he was wearing a great --

shook out. the democratic win. is this a referendum on the trump presidency, meaning his policy, him, and his leadership style, or a mix of both? rick: we saw democratic wave emerge in virginia. a directto say that is reaction to president trump. it is not just that you saw big margins wracked up a lung african-american voters, minority voters, and white voters that tend to be more democratic. it is also used a winners at the local level, people simply not on the radar screen that got involved in politics as a reaction to president trump. this was a referendum on trump and trumpism. a 2020, theoking at democrats obviously feel momentum right now. how do they keep that going? rick: i think they're making a huge mistake if they think this suggests there in a better position for 2020. this was important for donor
