of early suspicious morning phone calls. case closed and justice finally done of a husband's chilling 911 confession. >> i called my wife. i killed my daughter. i intend to kill myself. announcer: "abc7 news at 4:00" starts right now. >> why did you kill your family? jonathan: that is the question everyone wanted to know. now the man who heard confess to murdering will spend the rest of his life in prison. alison: we are learning why from the very 911 recordings. jonathan: maryland bureau chief brad bell has conclusion to the case gripped laurel for four years. >> i killed my wife. i killed my daughter. i shot at my son. i intend to kill myself. brad: with that matter of fact delivery, then 59-year-old ronnie rainey admitted he killed his wife lisa and her daughter in the family's west laurel home in 2013. today after delays caused by his rejected claims of mental

the hat. this is where the bullet grazed the visor and nearly killed his own son. we will be back at 5:00 with more on what the killer was thinking when he pulled the trigger. in upper marlboro, brad bell, abc7 news. michelle: tracking breaking news, i'm michelle marsh at the abc7 live desk. big case in the ashanti billie murder. prince george's county 19-year-old who went missing in september. billie's body was later found in north carolina nearly two weeks later. we just got off the phone and abc7 confirming with the f.b.i. a retired navy veteran has been taken into custody. his name is eric brown. the court records reveal he matches the physical description of a man seen in surveillance video. the victim's body found 300 yards from the childhood home. we are going over the court records. as soon as we get more details we will pass them along but that is the latest from the "live desk." michelle marsh, back to you. jonaa

clean sweep for the democrats in virginia governor race last night, overshadowed by report of attempt at voter suppression in northern virginia. calls were going out hours before the polls open telling people the polling places had changed. stephen tschida with an update. this may have been more widespread than we previously thought. >> we learned that the phone calls and the texts were sent out across prince william county and in fairfax county. as well. and right now voting rights activists are calling for a criminal investigation to find out who made these calls, why they were made. and who was targeted. big wins for democrats in virginia, despite what many believe was to keep specific voters away from thecas. >> robo calls are an old and familiar tactic. used to discourage minority voters. stephen: 50 c

prince william county naacp alone about bogussal calls, robo calls and texts directing voters to the wrong polling place. >> voters don't declare a party when they register in virginia. voting rights advocates say there are ways to determine how an individual is likely to vote. >> i have seen data bases that have the information. for the most part they are very accurate. >> the virginia board of elections is aware and there are calls for a criminal investigation. >> this falls under the purview of possible criminal action and it's been referred to the attorney general's office. stephen: if the naacp received 50 complaints and we know of complaints in fairfax county, the voting rights activists say there could be many, many more people out there received the calls and texts. you it may be impossible

transgender woman runs and beats a long-time conservative republican who has been in office around the parts since 1992. now for decades, this has been bob marshall territory, the 13th district. as the delegate he served 13 terms. staunchly conservative. he sponsored the bathroom bill you mentioned that failed in committee. roem readily acknowledged her transgender status. she would wear rainbow color scarf on her head. but the big issue was transportation. sing up traffic on route 28. she won 54-45%. still a lot of folks we spoke with believe this district is changing from red to blue or at the very least is less conservative now. >> what has changed? why has it changed? >> i don't know. efeel like people with our generation are more open minded and giving chances. not so closed off now.
