in the shadow of the d.c. monument and why it may be coming to an end. a marine on a mission. 31 days. 31 marathons. 31 cities. jonathan: we start with breaking news. a small plane has gone down in anne arundel county in the last 30 minutes we have gotten word of this. it went down as you can see in a wooded area. it look like it came apart on the guardrail off the road. southbound 97 at route 50 in annapolis. one adult, two children being evaluated at the scene right now. again, we will get more details as we learn them but we are not hearing that anybody was killed result of the crash. the firefighters are still working on what is left of the fuselage from the plane. it doesn't look like they are in a rush but they are trying to get someone out of plane. when we get more word we will let you know. the other news that we are following is the arctic cold blanketing

alison: the temperatures are plummeting and tomorrow it will feel more lake january. nancy: this hurts. chief meteorologist bill kelly has the veterans day weekend forecast. really cold outside. bill: near records by tomorrow morning. there are overnight lows in the mid-20's. we have 38 at dulles. 39 at college park. gaithersburg at 37. you mentioned january. the normal high temperature on the coldest day of the year, mid-january is 43. we are below that. then you add winds to it that are blowing between 10 to 20. so here is the temperature that you want to know before going out tonight to your friday football games, heading out and about around the town. the feels like temperatures are all at or below freezing around the area. they are only going to go down from here. you have 29 right now in manassas. 32 in frederick. 30 in leesburg. we do have tonight a freeze warning that is in effect for the most part. around the entire

today. each of them were learning powerful lessons. >> the way the world is, there are so many problems for the young kids to give them a hug. that is just so comforting. a hug just goes a long way. sam: for marvin eagle, handshakes and hugs. from one generation to the next. today he saw love, honor and compassion. thomas was shot in vietnam and today he is matched with the high school senior erica lions. both here on an honor flight from coffee county, kansas. >> it seems like they really take care of you. >> learning to appreciate what we have. not me doing it but someone who is brave enough to fight for the country. >> thomas waited his whole life for this moment. he survived the attack in vietnam but his two close e friends didn't. today his partner erica helped find the names on the wall.

lindsey: i'm lindsey mastis with breaking news from the "live desk." comedian louis c.k. released a statement about the sexual misconduct allegations against him. he is admitting that they are true. in a statement he writes in part, "those stories are true" and that he is remorseful. he is going on to say he thought he had permission to touch himself in front of his accusers but now he says he took advantage of the power he had as a celebrity. he is facing fallout. movie premier scheduled for last night canceled in the light of the allegations. now netflix says it will not produce another standup special starring the comedian. at the "live desk," i'm lindsey mastis. jonathan: thank you. alison: olympic gymnast says she was sexually abused by a former gymnastics doctor and she was 15 when she was treated by dr. nasser.

worked for usa gymnastics for years and dozens of women accused him of sexual misconduct. depping now, alabama senate candidate roy moore under fire after allegation of sexual misconduct and he is refusing to drop out of the race. now the republican party senate campaign ended its fund raising agreement withmore. the "washington post" is reporting that he molested girls when he was in his 30's. other lawmakers say he should drop out of the wake. president trump weighing in on this says if the amizations are true, moore should step aside. jonathan: new at 4:00, fighting crime from above. we are talking about drones. they are quick and agile and small. we have a look at how they are using the high-tech tools to catch criminals. q mccray? q: you are looking at one of the stafford county deputies newest crime fighting to

a drone. they have four of them. our deputies encounter the suspects at 7-eleven. the suspect was wanted on felony probation violation. q: this was the scene at the corner of garrisonville road and arrowhead drive around 2:00 a.m. >> he ended up fleeing the scene in the woods. the deputies gave chase and we set up a drone. q: they captured three suspects and they located a missing mountain view student. out here in the woods, the bird's-eye view makes the difference. but there are rules to follow. >> f.a.a. regulations say the drone operator has to be in a visual line of fight. q: a thick fog cut the search short. we did research and according to the virginia law unless they are searching for a missing person, the law enforcement must have a warrant to use

bad guys, which was the case in the manhunt. the search continues for the suspect. in stafford, q mccray, abc7 news. jonathan: now a high-speed chase in oklahoma city. this is wild. man on the run for hours with the officers in pursuit. an offroad truck he stole. he goes through a fence. this is how it comes to an end. he went backwards in a bond. he jumps out and thought he was out of the reach but that is a taser. next time we see him, we will be at his trial. nancy: a d.c. high school student is in critical condition after being shot near the school yesterday. we brought this to you as breaking news yesterday. now we are hearing from a witness. sam ford has more. sam: you remember what happened at

14 years ago. this is a high school where there was a homicide in the school. they are hoping that the young man pulls through. he is in critical condition. this is the big interest in this neighborhood. police say he is in critical condition after being shot on the street two blocks from school. the witnesses didn't want to be on tv. >> i see him laying on the ground, bloody. >> a resident the didn't want to be identified heard the shot and saw students flunk to the ground pulling out his cell phone. they ran down to get help but by the time they got her the young man lost consciousness. there needs to be more police officers out here, residents say, walking streets as the kids go home

kevin: i'm kevin lewis live heading for a plane crash. skytrak7 over the scene. we are told it's a single engine plane with three people on board. one adult and two minors, two juveniles. we don't know how young the children are. we are told all three people have non-life threatening injuries. anne arundel county fire and police handling this as we speak. we are en route and we'll bring you updates as they come in. nancy: thank you. alison: we are back with an investigation in a toddler's death in new york city. 3-year-old boy with a severe food allergy died after eating a grilled cheese sandwich at his preschool. now authorities have shut down the school. they called the deadly exposure to dairy isolated incident but it's not clear if the school had a plan to protect or treat children who have a severe

this is the middle school where much of the abuse took place. this is demand letter they sent to the school. this is the demand. right here, we hero demand the sum of $1 million. that is how much the woman says her child suffered. her child was one of the 42 allegedly abused by the former aide and track coach carlos bell. now she wants to prevent the enough such case from happening. she won't discuss the child, alleged crime or the impact on her son. but her lawyer says counseling will be needed for the fos

nancy: the grounds around the washington monument are going to be center stage this weekend for an event to promote burning man on the mall. this is officially known as catharsis on the mall. a big event. mike carter-conneen is there live now with a preview. to explain what this is. this is a big celebration. mike: we are stim trying to figure out what this is. there are people in this pyramid thing. they are doing leg exercises and yoga outside. this is catharsis on the mall. it's three of day festival for vigil for healing. part music festival and dance party and protest and conference. gathering for progressive activists and the artists. they

organizers are considering legal action against the national park service. reporting live on the national mall, mike carter-conneen, abc7 news. jonathan: all right. thanks. for years people played organized sports on the grass at the base of the washington monument. that could soon end if the national park service gets its way. stephen tschida explains why. stephen: if you want to play organized sport on the national mall you have to pay a lot more than you used to. it's park service gets its way. >> that is ridiculous to raise the fee just because they have an opportunity to raise the fee. >> the national park service currently charges the administrative fees for using the land for organized sport. so it could cost as little as $7 per season. but now it's proposing $70 for two hours. >> i think it's too much. >> the park service announced it wants the grounds around the monument, closed for work on the turf to rem

since hurricane maria direct hit in september. jonathan: wow! 38%. senate passing a resolution to require sexual harassment training for senators including staff members and the interns who have 60 days to complete training. they are required to repeat each section of congress. this comes as the sexual misconduct allegation against roy moore surfaced. nancy: back to breaking news from the top of the hour, small plane crash in anne arundel county. the plane went down in a wooded area off the southbound 97 at route 50 in annapolis. new details that are coming in the newsroom now that the state police say the pilot took off from tipton airfield. it was trying to turn when it went down. pilot advised he lost engine power and he made an emergency landing. they say the pilot successfully landed the plane on exit ramp. that is when it went in the woods afterwards. no in

marathon 30 out of 31. 31 different marathons in 31 days. 31 cities. >> started the challenge because i want to get a story out there about a veteran that has traumatic experience in afghanistan. i was able to come back and find the new way i was going to contribute. he was injured in afghanistan losing both legs from the i.e.d. and he has two pros metic -- two prosthetic knees. this is not the first time he took on the challenge. four years ago he cycled across the country.
