"abc7 news at 4:00" starts now. jonathan: breaking news update on detective shot in head yesterday. he has died. nancy: there is a massive manhunt ongoing for the person responsible. updates from shock trauma. brad bell is there as the department grieves and seeks justice. brad? brad: that is right. an hour or so ago the baltimore police commissioner and mayor came out here to make the sad news that the officer had, in fact, died. i want to bring up a picture and tell you about him. his name is sean suiter. detective sean suiter.

yesterday he was trying to solve a murder when he was shot. >> he went to engage the suspect in the conversation and the confrontation occurred. he shot and killed detective suiter. a fatal gunshot wound to his head. >> for most of the day the west baltimore neighborhood has been on lockdown. s.w.a.t. teams have been seen making entry in the vacant buildings. in the block the officer was shot. a quad of the policeca dealts going door-to-door to making sure everyone in the community is aware of the reward for information.
