state fair surrounded by hundreds of people. and i certainly don't remember taking this picture. i feel badly that ms. menz came away from our interaction feeling disrespected. menz's story comes days after radio host leeann tweeden said franken forcibly kissed her and took this photo groping her while the two were working together on a uso tour. the minnesota senator has apologized to tweeden and said he welcomes an ethics investigation but says he is not resigning. >> last night -- >> reporter: this as an ethics investigation is under way into sexual harassment allegations against representative john conyers, the longest serving member of the house and a civil rights icon. buzzfeed reporting two different women accused the detroit congressman of sexual misconduct. in the first case conyers reached a settlement with a former employee who said he repeatedly asked for sexual favors. during one everyone counter the woman told buzzfeed conyers insisted she come to his hotel room and,

with me and caress me before you go. buzzfeed reporting the case ended with a confidentiality agreement in exchange for a settlement of more than $27,000. the payout money coming from conyers' congressional budget. in that case conyers says he expressly and vehemently denied the allegations. the second involving his longtime scheduler. in court documents obtained by abc news, the woman accused representative conyers of lingering touches. repeatedly rubbing her shoulders and blowing kisses at her. but the former employee dropping her case after a judge rejected her request to seal the case to protect privacy. now, this morning the detroit free press is calling on conyers to resign. as for franken, 36 current and former cast and crew from "snl" have signed a letter supporting him. the statement starts with, what al did was stupid and foolish but they go on to write, after years of working with him, we would like to acknowledge that not one of us ever experienced any inappropriate behavio

not to minimize it but it's to say that in certain cases you have to decide even just in terms of their jobs is this worthy of the professional death penalty. did this level of conduct rise to the point where this person shouldn't work again or certainly shouldn't work at this particular company and there are going to be tough calls where there was some kind of bad behavior, there was inappropriate behavior but does that mean that person should never work again? charlie rose wasn't a close call based on in my view -- >> i wonder if it's not only the level of behavior but being in front of the camera and behind it. >> it could be part of that. how much scrutiny someone gets. but i think that in the end i hope it's based on the conduct itself, what they did, how often it happened, the same sort of evaluations we would do in the law when sentencing someone i think would apply here when talking about what should employers do. >> a lot of tough, complicated

dangers coming before cyber monday when 27% more hotel rooms are booked than any other day of the year and abc's gio benitez is here with those details. >> reporter: hey, good morning to you. tripadvisor has 535 million users but it's now facing new backlash. the federal trade commission is looking into the site's business practices for online reviews. some travelers say their reviews were intentionally removed about safety issues. christie love from dallas says she was raped at a mexico resort in 2010 and tried to post about her experience on tripadvisor back then. >> every day tripadvisor would remove, delete that post. and so i would go immediately and repost it the next day. and it would be removed again. >> reporter: while abc news has not been able to confirm her account tripadvisor did post her review this year seven years later. an investigation by the milwaukee journal sentinel found that more than a dozen tripadvisor users who say their reviews aut

survivors after a crash in the pacific ocean. at least eight people have been found alive and our senior national correspondent matt gutman has the latest. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, george. right now the maeve is throwing everything it has into located the other three people still missing from that plane. miraculously the eight that were recovered are in good condition, they say. the navy c-2 plane crashed 500 miles off the coast of the japanese island of okinawa as it was heading for the usair craft carrier. it was part of a huge naval exercise that turned into a search and rescue operation. this is the third possibly deadly incident involving the u.s. 7th fleet. two previous collisions between navy destroyers and merchant ships caused the death of 17 sailors. the navy says it is investigating what caused this morning's plane crash. george. >> matt, thanks very much. now to the

rush. nearly 51 million expected to hit the roads and sky for thanksgiving. david kerley is at the airport there in charlotte, north carolina. with what you can expect. good morning, again, david. >> reporter: good morning, robin. last hour we watched aircraft after aircraft pull away from the gates and head out. the thanksgiving crush/rush is on here at charlotte and across the country. we went behind the scenes here in charlotte with american airlines to watch the workers turn aircraft very quickly to deal with the nearly 48 million people who are traveling by air over this thanksgiving weekend. so far without weather issues, there have been few cancellations and while there are lines in the terminal, they are moving smartly. of course, today, though, is the biggest day on the road and some estimates suggesting today 50 million americans will be on the move, they'll pay more gas prices up 18% from last year and plus travel up is 10% as well an amtrak says it will move 750,000

the good news for everybody moving, sounds like a lot more are this year is the weather. it's not impeding air traffic. it's not impeding those who want to drive home for the holidays. >> david, how are you getting home for the holiday? >> i'm taking my third flight in three days and will see you. >> safe journey, my friend. thank you. >> all right, thank you. we turn to that massive hack at uber. affecting 57 million riders. the company just going public with the news now. even though it happened in 2016. rebecca jarvis is here and, rebecca, like so many others who use uber, wonder what kind of information did they have access to? >> what is so disturbing about the breach is not just the number of people impacted. 57 million uber riders and drivers but the fact that there were people at the company who knew about it late last year and paid a $100,000 ransom is conceal it from victims and authorities and never reported it at the

started in september. he says he recently learned about this. he says none of this should have happened. he's taking responsibility but personal information of 57 million users, name, e-mail address, mobile phone numbers, they were stolen. uber's hired outside forensic experts that say they haven't seen evidence of fraud or misuse tied to the incident but monitoring the affected accounts and flagged them for additional fraud protection and asking them to keep a lookout and the company has fired two people connected to the breach, michael. a lot of trust rebuilding there to do with users and with the community. >> shouldn't companies like this, this ef some kind of duty to report it to their customers because you need to keep track of your information. >> there are rules and regulations that say they have a window of time to report this so there's probably going to be more on this to come with authorities and regulators as they look into why this happened. >>ll

[ cheers and applause ] does it feel good -- does it feel good to prove them wrong? >> absolutely. i mean, you know, i was so viciously told that i would never succeed and that, you know, i should just throw in the towel and do something else and at the time it was devastating. it was heartbreaking. it was humiliating but i love that story now because it's a part of me and i love to share with people the message that you can determine your own success. no one else can write your story no matter how different you are.
