announcer: from abc 7 news, this is a breaking news alert. adrianna: the d.c. officer who shot and killed terrance sterling last september should be fired. >> the metropolitan police department

's review board to determine the officer who fatally shot 31-year-old terrance sterling did not follow proper protocol. sterling was shot on september 11, 20 16. he was racing his motorcycle through d.c. that morning. there was some kind of collision between a police cruiser and sterling's motorcycle. this was shortly before the shooting. this ruling by the use of force review board means that the officer involved in the shooting faces the likelihood of termination. the board recommends termination. the officer could appeal that, but this is a development in the case that has left so many questions unanswered. we will be on the story throughout the afternoon. adrianna:

terrance sterling's family issued a statement saying in part "we will continue to stay in prayer that brian trainor is never in another position to take another wife." now one of them -- another life." now one of the most controversial cases. hughes is live outside the supreme court with more on this. yan: crowds of people camped out for days to hear the arguments inside the supreme court. on one side you have supporters or the baker, jack philips. on the other side, you have supporters for the couple, and dave mullins. they arrived here and sat on the steps as the

this is a landmark case that pits the baker's religious rights against the gay couple free of discrimination. the masterpiece cakeshop versus the colorado civil rights commission. jack philips was sued one year after he refused to make a the same-sexfor couple because of his religious beliefs. the couple was referred to him by their wedding planner. that he violated the antidiscrimination law, but the baker argues he has free speech and religious rights under the first amendment. jack philips addressed the media outside the court. >> i have had to stop creating the wedding art that i loved. i have faced death threats and harassment. stopping the wedding art has cost us much of our business. so much soe

least one person who was in a car accident trying to evacuate. the fire started at 50 acres and grew to 45,000 in a few hours. nearly 30,000 people have been forced to leave their homes. some fear they won't have anything to come back to. >> this fire is moving as fast as any i have ever seen. all.st shock, that is you never expect. adrianna: the fire has knocked out power to 200,000 customers. firefighters are attacking the flames in the air and on land. they don't know what caused it. at home, a nightmare before christmas. ups trucks and a trailer filled ted --ackages gout gutted by flames. >> during what is such a busy time for

season, this was a major fire at the facility in frederick, maryland. 10 packaging trucks were destroyed. some of them rentals. the well-known brown ups trucks on the road. you can see the damage is extensive. here is where the fire started. you can see the burned s iding on the building. look at this trailer. now just a charred shell. the fire starting at 10:30 last night during a shift change. one of the employees coming in noticed the flames and immediately called for help. no injuries were reported, but the cause is under investigation. investigators say the sprinkler system did work. that is good news, because the fire could have spread and been worse.

adrianna: back with the appearance of the accused serial killer that terrorized a tampa neighborhood reportedly called to testify against their own son today. donaldson is charged with the shooting death of four people over six weeks, all the killings happening blocks from one another. parents cannot believe their son to do such a thing. >> i love my son. disbelief that this was happening to our family. we question why. he doesn't have the personality of that character they're giving him. >> our hearts are heavy, as their hearts are heavy. adrianna: a motive or his connection to the victims is unclear. police under fire for hiring a fake int

everyone. we didn't have food and water. when we pulled away, i realized i get to go home. these people won't have a home for weeks, months, years. it started to hit me. i feltthe first time a great responsibility of telling people's stories. getting the financial support they need. inspiring others around the nation to see their stories so they gather understanding that a natural disaster provokes. it inspired me to say in the next one i am going to do more. katrina was the trial by fire for me, because i was very young relatively new to reporting. it was the first time i was able to make my stories human. human.s he gave me great perspective. they always do, every storm.

the white house lawyers are saying we wrote the tweet. that is a slippery slope. piggybackingd of off of that, his attorney's defense is that the president can not commit obstruction of justice because he is the president. what you make of that? rick: it is a novel defense. mp peach met articles against nixon and clinton specifically said obstruction of justice. that is a tough legal argument. there is a narrow sense where it could be true. if he is just doing his official job like firing james comey for any reason he wants, that is not in itself obstruction, but there are actions that could be a steak. i do not think democrats or republicans will save the president does it it cannot be ille
