back to you. jonathan: we have breaking news out of missouri where a small plane has crashed into a gas station near st. louis. this is a live look now at the scene in suburban chesterfield. the pilot died as the plane hit a car and a gas pump. no one on the ground was hurt. authorities say the pilot trying to reach a local airport but didn't make it. the investigation is now underway. alison: now new information after an 11-year-old was shot in suitland. we first brought you breaking news as the story unfolded last night at 11:00. stephen tschida is live in suitland. what have you learned about the gunman and what happened here? stephen: well, alison, we learned that this man is 33 years old. the gun was his legally. it was in the town home. as last report the boy is in critical condition.

military, putting his legally owned gun away. he told investigators he had it in his hand when it went off. 11-year-old boy struck in the upper body. he was watching the boy at the time. >> i'm not criticizing nobody but i wouldn't have had a weapon around any kid. >> the man is cooperating. he told them he picked up the child and ran to his neighbor the boy's mother. she was at home. he drove the injured child and the mother to the joint base andrews where they stabilize boy and transferred the child to children national medical center. where he underwent surgery. the boy is still in critical condition. loretta hamilton stopped by. her daughter lives around the corner. >> i hope and pray he will be okay. that is why i came here to see how the boy

>> now the investigation continues. once it wraps up if findings will be handed off to the state attorney office for review. and possibly charges. reporting live, stephen tschida, abc7 news. larry: several raids across the area as the federal agencies crack down on the gang activity. brad bell is live outside the f.b.i. headquarters in northwest with what is happening now. brad? brad: yeah, will, its it is possible raids are going on. difficult to find out because a lot of the court documents are sealed. what the sources are telling us is this is a big deal. a big effort. it was in fact a joint effort. between the a.f.t. and the f.b.i. an investigation that started last spring. the tar get gangs daling with the guns and drugs. we are told that it yielded arrests over several

arrests made. today is the day they really want to fan out and round people up. we do not know the exact number yet. but sources told me it is in the double digits and so it is at least ten. for gangs involved, we know one gang according to the documents is the bloods gang. there is a person in particular that the law enforcement refers to as a ring leader here. someone that the others they were targeting said they were scared of. we don't know for sure but we believe he was one of those who was targeted today. documents are sealed but we will stay on the case and bring details as they are available. brad bell, abc7 news. alison: keep us posted. thank you. early morning crash in aspen hill killed a gaithersburg man. 28-year-old mario flores
