overnight-- now burning an area larger than new york city. that makes it the 5th largest fire in california history. firefighters say containment of the flames actually dropped from 15 percent to 10 percent. and for many residents-- they only get a few minutes of warning, before they have to abandon their homes. the fire damaging or destroying more than eight hundred buildings and or destroying more than eight hundred buildings and threatening thousands more. the strong winds that are feeding the flame

to continue until at least tomorrow. right now-- grief councilors are being called in at a local high school after a student was found dead sunday. the body of 17-year-old navid nicholas sepehri was found in a wooded area in bethesda. the teen was a senior at walt whitman high school. he was reported missing saturday. an autopsy will be performed. this morning marks the start of "week 2" for tolls on i-66. and it didn't take long for drivers and lawmakers to get fed up during "week 1". now-- virginia's transportation secretary is responding. aubry lane sent a 6-page letter to the state senators and delegates calling for the tolls to be suspended, as the entire system is re-evaluated. in it-- lane detailed why he won't suspend those tolls. lane also talked about the toll that outraged drivers when it rose to 40 dollars at one point last week. he says the average driver paid 14 dollars and 50 cents... which he said is below the estimated cost of 17 dollars. lane will also ask v-dot to review its tolling algorithm.

claims it would be irresponsible to make any changes right now. happening today-- philadelphia eagles fans will be hoping for a miracle. eagles quarterback carson wentz will undergo an mri this morning after injuring his knee while diving for a touchdown sunday. the preliminary diagnosis-- a torn a-c-l. that would of course end his season. the eagles are in first place in the nfc, and had been favorites to reach the superbowl. the redskins are not favorites to do anything as the season winds down. going into sunday' game against the chargers, the redskins had a one percent chance of making the playoffs. and that chance is now zero. washington fell behind early against the chargers-- and they never got out of that hole. the redskins defense got beat for several big plays-- as the chargers racked up more than 300 passing yards. 30-13 was the final and the redskins are officially out of playoff contention. next for the

this weekend's snowstorm. that storm left nearly 40-thousand people without power, from alabama to new jersey. boston getting as much as five inches of snow. slick conditions caused cars to overturn. amazingly, alabama received a foot of snow. that's the most it's ever seen this early in the season. downed power lines caused a mangled mess across atlanta. fallen trees caused big problems for drivers. air force one was delayed in jackson, mississippi, which hadn't experienced that much snowfall in three decades. warmer temperatures are expected in the south all this week.

started in the chimney. and it was caused be a problem that homeowners probably wouldn't notice. the homeowner was able to get out safely. but that missing brick allowed the fire to spread. fire officials say the homeowner did get a chimney inspection this year. but they say there are three different levels of inspection. and it's possible she needed a higher level. taking a look at the day ahead -- the nominations for this year's golden globes. the first announcements are due out at eight-15 a-m. the golden globes honor work on the big and small screens. this is the 75th year for those awards. and this just in to the abc7 newsroom... saudi arabia saying it's going to let movie theaters open there -- for the first time in more than 35 years. a resolution passed this morning clearing the way for theaters to open next year.
