breaking out overnight in the district. this is on 13th street northwest. we're told the fire started on the second floor of a 3-story apartment building. crews were able to quickly put out the flames... and no one was hurt. tragic developments out of montgomery county this morning. a walt whitman high school student found dead.. just hours after he was reported missing. the body of 17-year-old navid sepheri was found sunday in a wooded area of laverock lane. that's right near the bannockburn swim club. police say sepheri was last seen alive around 11:30 saturday night. it's still unclear how he died...

right now at 5xx one of five wildfires still burning in southern california is growing by the hour. sam sweeeney is at the live desk.. and sam, this morning firefighters say they're losing ground. the santa ana winds and low humidity are fueling these flames. the thomas fire has now burned more than 270-square miles. that's bigger than chicago and those flames intensified overnight. so far it's destroyed at nearly 800 buildings since it started last monday. overnight a new mandatory evacuation order was put in place for about 5-thousand residents in santa barbara county. take a listen to one man describing the intensity of the flames. collectively, the series of wildfires across southern california have forced more than 200-thousand people out of their homes since last monday. the good news - one of the fires has been completely put out. but firefighters have still got a lot of work on their hands.

new tolls began on i-66. and now transportation officials say they are not going anywhere.. sam sweeney is at the live desk with more. this morning.. virginia's transportation secretary is responding after lawmakers called for an immediate suspension of the tolls. aubry lane sent a 6-page letter to the state senators and delegates who called for the suspension. in it-- lane detailed why he will not suspend the tolls. he said reducing the hours would result in higher tolls. as for that shocking 40 dollar toll... lane said just 39 cars paid that price this week - and it's not something drivers should expect to pay daily.
