it is still a very active scene. some three and a half hours later, police had the streets blocked off. investigators are flooding the street, searching for clues. this death investigation drawing a big response. this is all taking place in the river terrace neighborhood near 34th street northeast in clay treet. they have no idea she died or how long she's been out here. this neighborhood has been concerned for about three weeks now, ever since 53-year-old joni rockingham went missing. sharet and the name no one has seen her since thanksgiving. her sister tells me it's been a very hard and terrible three weeks. but she says it's too soon to say if it's definitely her. but he's calling it very suspicious. >> we're also looking into the possibility. we have not identified the person yet. but we're

adrianna: firefighters gaining ground in southern california. crews are making a last stand to protect some homes. as of last nights that fire was 20% contained on the flames have now scorched more than 350 square miles in just a week. and this afternoon, the city of san francisco was mourning the death of its mayor. ed lee died in the hospital. early reports indicate he may have had a heart attack at the grocery store. lee was san francisco's first asian-american hair and he was just 65 years old. the me too movement grows, mario batali is stepping away from his restaurant empire and tv show after allegations of sexual

misconduct. here is more on this. >> cut that -- >> he's a world-renowned chef and restauranter to. appearing on the food network and daytime co-host of "the chew." but now, mario batali, husband and father of two is stepping away from his restaurant empire following sexual misconduct allegations from four unnamed women detailed in this report by eater new york. >> when the harvey weinstein first came out, people started coming to us with tips about various chefs throughout the restaurant industry and batali was one of those chefs. >> the complaints spanned two decades with all four women accusing him of touching them inappropriately. the article details of grabbing and groping and multiple times. three of the women allegedly worked for him in some capacity. just this past october, eater reports an employee filed the first formal complaint. he said he did not know the identities

the gusty winds around the immediate metro area. give it another hour or two, you're going to hear it and you're going from to feel it. temperatures, plenty of cold air to go around off to the north and west of us. we are in the 20's. this cold air, it's here for about a day and a half and the winds are going to pick up later on today, through tonight and into early tomorrow morning. looking for a little bit of snow, head into central pennsylvania, west virginia. we may see a few sprinkles here and there but i'm not expecting a whole lot. nothing that will have an impact on your afternoon other than the colder air that's going to begin to filter in with a little bit of clearing later on this afternoon. here are our temperatures. well, just around upper 40's to around 50 degrees for a high. and then we start that tumble. 1:00, 2:00, and then into the evening. rush hour commute. look what happens by 5:00. already in the upper 30's. skies begin to clear. around the freezing mark by 7:00 p.m. forecast wind chills as we head

around fairfax county this morning to help children who have to spend the holiday in the hospital. suzanne kennedy was there when kris kringle surprised all those little kids. suzanne: for nearly three decades, this has been the tradition at fairfax county. it's called santa's ride. they collect toys to be given so ill children in the community at christmas. this festive team is going to eight local schools, police stations and government facilities to pick up the donations. this morning, santa and his trusted team started the work in annandale where the school collected more than 600 presents. >> these toys are going to children who are hospitalized and they realize the benefit that they have and the blessings that they have of their own good health. and they're more than willing to give to others. >> it's one thing to go out and do our knowing keep this community safe every year when we finally get to see the smiles on all the

to call police. happening tonight, the city of alexandria is honoring local heroes. they were among the first on the scene when a gun maenpaa opened fire at that congressional baseball practice over the past summer. at 7:00, alexandria city council will read a proclamation honoring the u.s. challis, alexandria police, fire and sheriff's office as well as virginia state police. we are learning more details now about the tragic death of a local high school student. dozens gather last night for a vigil in bethesda. police are still trying to figure out how did the die but he said foul place does not top be involved here. the night he went mission, police were called to his house, not too far from where his body was eventually found. >> caller is anonymous. there's an underage drinking party at this address. it is loud. there's a bonfire in the backyard. adrianna: about 15 minutes later, police say several kids ran off when they arrived. officers wer
