whose mind was in the gutter would read it that way. eyes on the political world at alabama. at stake in the president election a crucial seat in the senate. roy moore made an entrance there. you see him arriving on horseback to cast his vote. the polls close in less than three hours. we have a live report from alabama in less than ten minutes. alison: back at home, there are new developments in the grade fixing scandal in prince george's county. this afternoon, maryland governor larry hogan met with the prince george's county chapter of the naacp. maryland bureau chief brad bell joins us live with the latest. brad? brad: alison, meeting was right here in largo at the headquarters of the naacp. the group calling on the governor for help because they don't have any confidence in leadership of prince george's county to make the required changes in the school system. the naacp requested a meet

only met with them but traveled from annapolis to largo for the sitdown session. when the one-hour meeting was over the governor got an earful about the state of the p.g. county school system and the state audit which found widespread irregularities in the system high school graduation rate. >> whistle blowers all over the system that came forward were threatened by the county superintendent. by the chairman of the school board repeatedly. they had guts to come forward. they provided a lot of information. we had an outside auditor that is a specialist in the area who found widespread wrongdoing and the grade fixing. >> the governor stopped short of calling for the ouster of the school c.e.o. kevin maxwell but others repeated the demand. the president of the naacp and prince george's county said there needs to be a complete curriculum audit. and the county executive should be stripped of authority over the system. >

we keep telling the county exec and the school board there is disconnect with the current state that runs the community away. >> the school system is preparing their response to the audit. we expect they will announce the changes and what they plan to do about the irregularities and the graduation rate next week at the school board meeting. in largo, abc7 news. nancy: just in, one person is in custody after hitting several cars and running away. this happened near dulles airport property on route 28. no one was hurt.

this is the inner loop before allentown road. we are told no children are injured because of the school bus crash and one adult has a minor injury. we do not know where the buses were going or where they came from. but as we see here several lanes of traffic are getting by. we will keep you posted throughout the evening. now other news, a new information in the monday attempted terrorist attack in new york city. the suspect now faces state and the federal terrorism charges. 27-year-old akayed ullah set off the homemade pipe bomb in a subway tunnel. five people were hurt. none seriously. the 27-year-old said he was inspired by isis but he has no criminal background and was not on the government terrorism radar. >> we are now seeing increased number of attacks committed by people who are inspired by what they see online who self-connect with a terrorist ideology. but operate separate or

>> law enforcement sources say the bomb was built from a 12-inch pipe, black powder and a nine-volt battery with a wire that came from a christmas light. attorney general jeff sessions says the u.s. is seeing a surge of violent crime from gangs like ms-13 and an aggressive crackdown is underway by the trump administration. sessions says that starts with immigration reform. is there we must recognize that traditional gangs like the ms13 taken advantage of the porous borders and previously lax immigration enforcement. that is just a fact. >> well, ms-13 has more than 10,000 members across 40 different states. sessions says more than 1,000 gang members have been convicted just this year. nancy: coming up at 5:00, a stunning twist and a police chase. a driver falling out of their car during the getaway. we have that story. alison: we have

alison: a wild police chase in los angeles and it comes to a dramatic end. the driver rolls out of the vehicle and just lays there on the street. it was a woman. she was taken into custody while the car kept going ultimately hitting a pole. it's unclear if the woman was hurt or what sparked the chase to begin with. the chase got up to 80 miles per hour. nancy: back now to a story dominating the political landscape. the alabama's special senate election. the polls closing in less than three hours from now. it looks like picking a winner between the republican roy moore and democrat doug jones will come down to the wire. we are joined live from montgomery with the latest. nastasha? >> i spoke to a political historian today and says this

war over the republican party identity. conservative voters here have a choice to make. they can reject roy moore on grounds of broader morality or support him trying to further specific morality like opposing abortion and things like marriage. the candidate democrat doug jones -- >> this is an important time in alabama history. >> and republican roy moore. >> this is for the country, the state and the future. >> they both cast ballots tuesday in the alabama special election that could reshape washington. now the candidates must wait to see who alabama voters elect to build a seat that opened when president trump called on senator jeff sessions to become his attorney general. moore a former judge is a controversial figure who faced decades old allegations of the sexual assault. allegations moore repeatedly denied. >> if you don't believe in my character, don't vote for me. >> and calls from other senate republicans to drop out of t

to watch for this evening? >> doug jones, the democrat in this race, really is going to have to depend on a large african-american turnout. it turns out that here in montgomery, actually, there is a state senate primary election at the same time. that is a primary between two african-americans for the democratic candidate position. that is probably going to draw out some african-american voters in huge numbers here in the montgomery area. besides that, we are looking carefully at the suburban vote. the well educated white voters and especially women who may look at roy moore's accusers and perhaps appalled by the situation. but perhaps are not entirely comfortable voting for a democrat. a lot of issues in play and those are the people we are looking at. nancy: we will keep an eye on it. thank you. make sure you stay

not terribly windy. an hour, hour and 15 minutes ago all of a sudden the winds started to pick up. so much so, look behind me. that is the national minora. they lit this a half hour ago. they had a hart time lighting it because winds gusting so strongly. wouldn't you know it? the winds continue to grow and it blew the minora out. the rabbi will go up again and relit the minora shortly so it will be illuminated for tonight. the first night of hanukkah. in 1978 was the first time they had the national minora. 1979, president carter lit it. 2014, vice president joe biden lit it. we have had dignitaries to light it over the years. this is lit through the eight nights of hanukkah. so you can check it out live over the next week or. so i promise you and bill will promise you that the winds will move flu the next day or so. improving conditions if
