99 percent of votes are in, in the widely-watched alabama senate race -- but roy moore is not backing down. ryan hughes is at the live desk with how things are playing out right now. ryan?? this morning -- democrat doug jones is the projected winner -- leading republican roy moore by just one-and-a-half percent. this marks the first time in more than 20 years that a democrat will represent alabama in the senate. the election comes about a month after accusations of sexual misconduct against moore were made public. with jones' victory -- republicans will have just a two-seat majority in the senate. but moore is not conceding! and president trump is tweeting about the race saying --

"congratulations to doug jones on a hard fought victory. the write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. the people of alabama are great, and the republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. it never ends!" this of course comes after the president backed roy moore leading up to the election. today -- another grilling in the russia probe. deputy attorney general rod rosenstein is set to testify before the house judiciary committee -- and the focus? text messages. republicans want to know more about reports that one of special counsel

team members was removed after sending an anti-trump text. conservatives are now claiming of political bias in the investigation. breaking news in the last 45 minutes -- -- palestinian president mahmoud abbas saying from this point forward -- palestinians won't accept any role for the u-s in the mid-east peace process. he says president donald trump's decision last week to recognize jerusalem as the capitol of israel was a "crime" that threatens world peace. abbas says peace cannot be achieved in the middle east -- unless the world recognizes east jerusalem as the capital of a future palestinian state. breaking in prince george's county -- a man hit by a car on 56th street just about two hours ago. the victim was taken to the hospital. right now -- no word on that person's condition or whether or not the driver stayed on scene. we're working to get more information. we will update you as soon as we do. developing now.. two men injured, after being shot outside a mcdonald's in germantown, maryland. and thse

one of the men shot should be fine -- the other was in surgery at last check. one bullet shattered glass at the mcdonald's around six-20 last night, but no one inside was hit. police believe the victims and the shooters know each other. developing now -- the department of justice taking a maryland business to court -- after it fired one of its workers!! the d-o-j's lawsuit states -- "bridges consulting" broke the law, when it fired a coast guard reservist... who had to be deployed. that violated the "uniformed services employment and re-employment rights act" -- which requires businesses to hold the jobs of servicemembers, who are deployed. the house of delegates 40th district recount begins this morning.. at the fairfax county courthouse. the district includes fairfax and prince william counties. at this point, g-o-p incumbent tim hugo is ahead of democrat donte tanner by 106 votes. if that recount and others don't change any results, republicans will retain control of the house by a slim margin.

their tenth day. firefighters have made progress cutting fire lines around the biggest of them all -- the thomas fire. so far it's destroyed over 700 homes. red flag warnings for fire danger due to santa ana winds were extended until at least friday. fire investigators now saying a cooking fire at a homeless camp sparked a flames last week that destroyed six homes in los angeles. no arrests have been made. happening today-- the man who set off a pipe bomb in new york's port authority, is due to appear in court. but authorities are determining whether today's initial appearance for akayed ullah will need to take place through closed-circuit video from the hospital. investigators say ullah picked a time and place he thought would cause the most destruction. instead, he was the person with the worst injuries. just three other

ullah faces multiple terrorism charges that could land him in prison for life. we now know the identity of a woman whose body was found in a trashcan in northeast d.c. 53-year-old joni rockingham of northeast was reported missing on november 24th. her body was discovered less than 24 hours ago, behind an abandoned house on 34th street northeast.. near clay street. police say she'd been stabbed several times. they're searching for her killer. an investigation is underway this morning after three prince geore's county police officers were hurt when their cars collided. sky-trak seven -- over the scene, shortly after the crash on lottsford road in mitchellville yesterday. the officers' injuries are said to be minor. check this out -- a bizarre traffic backup along route 28 near the dulles toll road during the evening commute. a man who stuck in that traffic shared this video with abc7. police tell us the guy you see on your screen was involved in a crash, got out of his car

driver -- and then started taking off his clothes!! once naked, he jumped on another vehicle as it went by -- and rode on top for a while before eventually running away. police caught up with him on dulles airport property and arrested him. students at bethesda-chevy chase high school in montgomery county put their trials and tribulations on display as art in a pop up museum now open to the public. the high's and lows of being a teen were all put together in about 30 exhibits inside an abandoned restaurant along wisconsin avenue. inside there are displays that cover a range of issues like high school love, partying, school shootings, college anxiety, and mental health. the exhibit comes after three the exhibit comes after three students died in the county in the last few weeks. saturday will be the final day for that exhibit.

lawyers - demanding a second special counsel be appointed in the russia investigation. this coming after the release of text messages exchanged between two former members of robert mueller's team. in one conversation the agents called then-candidate trump an "idiot" and "a loathsome human". mueller removed one of the agents immediately after learning of the messages. the other had already ended her assignment. trump's lawyers say the messages show a conflict of interest. trump has denied anco

russia during the campaign. democrats say the president is questioning the integrity of the fbi because mueller is amping up the pressure. president trump has signed a defense spending bill for next fiscal year into law. the national defense authorization act authorizes about 700-billion dollars for the defense department for 20-18. the bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. the measure also authorizes a two-point-four percent pay increase for u-s troops next month. that's the largest annual increase for the military since 20-10. the money will also go towards an increase of 20-thousand active duty and reserve troops across the u-s military. the white house is denying that a tweet from president trump about new york senator kirsten gillibrand was a personal attack. trump claimed gillibrand begged the president for campaign contributions years ago and said she quote "would do any
