here is the capital beltway, upper northwest bc toward chevy chase, silver spring, friendship heights -- this is where you look at some light snow. langley park and college park looking at some snow showers at this time. we have a winter weather advisory set to go into effect at 1:00 that includes the district, arlington, alexandria, frederick, howard, prince george's county, and anne arundel county. nothing toward the south and west. this is a northeast storm. look for the heavier snow amounts north and east of the baltimore area. that is where they are looking at the potential for more significant accumulations. the snow threat this afternoon for the immediate metro area, we will call for a dusting on grassy areas from 2122 inches. -- from

from maryland -- an armed robbery at the bank of america on baltimore avenue in beltsville. it is unclear how the robbery happened and how much money the suspect got away with. brad bell is on the scene right there with us now. brad: we will try to answer some of those questions. i want to get out of the way. we have an unusually clear look at a crime scene. look at this atm. the front is open. the guys running this armored car, carriers, where servicing that machine, and what we were told by sources is as soon as they popped the machine open, masked gunmen rolled up in a red van. they jumped out. they were holding rifles, they demanded the money, they got the money. sources tell us it was a very large amount of cash. they generally do not like to publicize what it was. the van these guys were in found a block away. police

adrianna: also breaking right now, a police chase ending here in baltimore. it started about 20 minutes ago. baltimore police say the driver is wanted in connection to a shooting. we are showing you live pictures from the air. they have the chase ended, and the person possibly there in a red and white shirt in custody that they are taken to a squad car at this point. this is going on in west baltimore. we will have an update. happening right now, a roundtable discussion on graduation rate accountability following the abc 7 i-team investigation. 7 on your side watchdog nathan bok stepped out of the meeting and has an update for us. nathan: the meeting started off contentious -- the d.c. council not only saying what happened at the high

victim of institutional racism when it comes to the attention given and the money given to the school, but you had d.c. council members that the office of the superintendent is not the group that should be doing the soul investigating. they are calling for an independent investigation. you have two dozen students talking right now. you have parents talking right now, telling the council what could help them out, and what they are saying as they are wanting the principle, dr. reeves to return. they say she was an excellent role model and excellent inspiration. they want her to return. they are also saying they want flexibility, not only in attendance policy -- as it stands right now, if you miss one class you miss the entire day. you are counted as out. they want flexibility. they are defending the credit classes. these students also say they want a system where more attention is

lot of police cars. it looks like a bus has been stopped. traffic has been stopped as police sort through this mess. at this point, it is our understanding there is one person in custody who allegedly 20 police on the chase for or 30 minutes and that person is wanted in connection to a shooting there in baltimore. we will keep you up-to-date on the situation as we get more information coming into the newsroom. adrianna: this afternoon we are keeping a close eye on the condition of senator john mccain. he was recently hospitalized due to side effects from the cancer treatment. ryan hughes is in bethesda with an update on his condition. senator john mccain has been undergoing rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, but he is now at walter reed, receiving treatment. his colleagues fear his condition could be growing

according to reports, mccain has been looking increasingly frail, and he is not spoken up recently during gop meetings, which is rare. mccain also missing votes in the senate, and could not attend a white house ceremony where president donald trump signed a defense bill into law. that is a major achievement. mccain is chairman of the armed services committee. the 81-year-old is now five months into his treatment after being diagnosed with brain cancer back in july. that is when he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot, and tests confirmed he had a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. joe biden was on "the view" here on abc 7, consoling mccain's daughter, megan, telling her there is hope. biden's son passed away from the from the same type of brain cancer. republicans are hoping that senator mccain can return ahead of a crucial vote on the gop tax plan.

silver spring, bethesda, chevy chase, cleveland park, woodley park, west, over toward the trinidad area, looking at snow shower activity at this time. nothing that is sticking, at least not inside the capital beltway. that will change in the mid afternoon hours. take a look as we widen things out. the ripples to the atmosphere, powerful jet streams overhead, and wins in excess of over -- winds in excess of 200 miles an hour. winter weather advisory's are set to go into effect in less than an hour -- 1:00 through the 7:00 hour. it includes the district, arlington, alexandria, prince george's, howard, and anne arundel, and points north and east. this will cancel out earlier than that. the reason the issue did is it coincides with a busy rush-hour commute for the week day. by 2:00 p.m., just about one hour

now, a live look outside. very cloudy and gray. we are expecting some snow showers anytime soon. meteorologist steve rudin is hit with a check of the forecast. steve: snow showers have started, frederick county into montgomery county, moving closer to the d.c. metro area. this is moving toward the north and east. if you are watching us inside the beltway, a few flakes are falling. frederick county, you're looking at snow showers this darted about an hour and -- that started about an hour and a half ago. the d.c. metro, lindley park, college park looking at light snow showers. a lot is not hitting the ground. we have a winter weather advisory set to go into effect in about 28 minutes. it does include the district, arlington, and alexandria. no counties to the south and west of us. the reason why, we're not expecting that

there and not expecting a tremendous amount around the immediate metro area. this is more of a nuisance type of snow. if you find yourself in one of the showers on the beltway or on one of the side streets, slow it down. a good chance for that, especially on rooftops, untreated roadways. grassy areas will see a light dusting. the farther north and east to go toward baltimore and philadelphia, that is where localized areas will see uppers of an inch. optimistically, -- upwards of an inch. optimistically, if you like to snow, two inches. huge snownot be a maker, but because of the timing at rush hour, that is why we have the watch. temperatures are below freezing. that is why we are also looking at the potential for slick roadways later on this af

fairfax. to the east of fairfax, that is where we are looking at light snow showers, nothing that is causing any road problems, but keep in mind because it is so cold out there with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, we are likely to see slick spots moving into the afternoon and the rush hour commute. we will get all of this out of here as we move toward the afternoon hours. before that, we have a winter weather advisory. it extends until 7:00 p.m. -- allington, alexandria, the district, montgomery. notice nothing off to the south and west of us. we are expecting lighter amounts of snow. we are not expected a lot around the metro area. this is futurecast, updated within the last 15 minutes. it wants to bring light snow at 2:00 to the d.c. metro, but by 4:00 p.m., it begins to lift toward the north and east, and

clearing skies with maybe a little bit of blowing snow out there. other than that, no big problems besides slick spots. temperatures, upper 20's, lower-30's. the evening rush-hour commute hovering toward the freezing mark. if you see more snow, slick roads are more likely. tomorrow, a chilly day with temperatures around 45 degrees. here is your 10-day outlook. once we get through the weekend with middle and upper 40's for temperatures, where in the 50's. a good amount of sunshine and a cool down the middle of the week, and as we head into the later part of the week next week, we are looking at temperatures that will be around 55 degrees by friday. christmas eve, 45 and drive. adrianna: it is like a heat wave comes through. steve: today is the worst of the next 10 days, a nuisance, but still a weather alert day.
