can we repeat sunday? we will let you know. the news is next. >> now, abc 7 news at 11:00, on your side. kimberly: a disturbing story to begin with, but it could have been so much worse. a young toddler was shot in the leg in southeast d.c. the little girl was rushed to the hospital and is expected to be ok. the police are remaining tightlipped about this. melissa dipane has what we know right now. melissa: the police say kids were playing with a gun when it went off and shot the little girl in the leg and apartment in the 2500 block of pomeroy road in southeast. the police say there is a lot of information to sort out. the toddler was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was conscious and breathing when she was transported. >>

figure out what's going on. we don't want to compromise an ongoing investigation or anyone's identities before we have everything figured out. still lots of questions to answer in this case about the gun and where it came from, but the case is still under investigation. melissa dipane, abc 7 news. kimberly: montgomery county police rushed to the fields of germantown apartments when a man was found dead after a caller told dispatchers that they heard a gunshot before 5 p.m. when first responders arrived at falling waters circle, the man was found dead. it is still under investigation. close call for a fairfax county police officer. he narrowly avoided getting hit by a driver during a traffic stop last night. the driver really smashed his cruiser's front door. the police posted these photos as a

q? q: definitely a change of pace. on a saturday night i'm smiling for good reason. we are live at the capital one arena where it was an amazing reunion. a mom and three little daughters got a surprise. the daughters had no idea. they thought they were here to watch a holiday greeting video with their dad who has been deployed overseas in africa for 14 months. after they watched, dad got on the big screen and said hello and merry christmas, and then this happened. >> we have an extra gift for you. how about this -- stanley family, go see what it is. let's open the gift for them. a little something extra

people came down with a similar illness aboard a bourdais royal caribbean ship in australia. and five people were injured after a chair lift malfunction at a ski resort outside of state college, pennsylvania. chair slidountain, a backwards, crashing into another chair, setting up a chain reaction. everybody is expected to recover, but the accident stranded skiers and took about 90 minutes for crews to get everyone down safely. that is a long time on the chairlift. the wildfires in california are still burning out of control. this has been happening for over two weeks. on the left side, a view from the ground on the right -- on the left side come if you from the ground, the right a view from space. brian: outside around here, pretty mild compared to what they are having out west. around here today, upper 40's.

the average is 46. yesterday the high was only 31. a milder trend the next couple days as we head into the last part of the week and towards christmas. 37 downtown, mid 20's in the burbs, culpeper 26, 28 winchester, 34 hagerstown. tomorrow morning, getting coffee , overnight the temperatures will be cool. just know that it will be pretty cool out there. early morning, it will be chilly. the big picture, we have clouds streaming in from southwestern virginia. i think we will have sunshine early tomorrow morning, but because there is no energy in the south, as of late the last couple systems have been on the northern jet stream and bringing went to retype weather. this is bringing clouds and a chance of rain, milder weather from the south and west.
