time. at least one of the cars -- train cars is dangling from the overpass on i-5. we see the cars backed up as a result. we understand that i-5 is completely shut down. at this point, it is unclear how many people are hurt, but we do understand according to pierce county authorities out of there are injuries on the train. first responders are responding to the incident as a mass casualty event. we are looking at live pictures from seattle, washington. train, oneing at the or two cars are on the interstate right now as we speak. it's a big-time breaking news event and we will keep you posted with the latest details as we get them into the newsroom. i'm q mccray.

connecting flights. this all started around 1:00 yesterday afternoon. that's when there was an underground fire that knocked out power to the busiest airport. an 11 hour with no power. sleeping, this morning in dulles, the first flight in was canceled. that was supposed to arrive at 10:00 -- at 7:00 this morning and many passengers were truly relieved to be other final destination after a long day and a very long night. in the dark for a while, but they got floodlights out, eventually got that set up for us. people were sleeping where they could. i slept on the baggage claim. i would argue one of the more comfortable spots out of most of them. walk from each concourse, no trains were working. people were trying to be booked on available

has derailed in tacoma, washington, about 40 minutes outside of seattle. on your screen, you can see there are several train , anddangling on the i-5 major quarter were in the northwest the connect everything from and cooper to portland and all the cities in between. pierce county sheriff's officials say there are injuries and casualties reported. they say several cars on i-5 or hit by falling train cars. to certainly had injuries and no word on how many motorists, about 70 people are so were on that amtrak train, and right now we do know the federal railroad administration has investigators are out to the scene. authorities are treating this as a mass casualty situation. once we get more information, we will be updating it throughout the show. now, tavisright smiley firing back over accusations of misconduct after he was suspended from his cbs talk show. he joins a growing list of men who have been

that was at troyer with the pierce county sheriff's office having us move off the on ramp, we're going to try and stay with this as we are moving down the way just a little bit. is a tense situation, we want to be in the way of any emergency crews the need to get through, we're not just talking about suvs and four runners, we are talking about heavy equipment that needs to get to this area. there are multiple train cars involved in this that we can't even see from the vantage point where we are, at least another three or four on the other side of the break. they are getting multiple different reports of fatalities, they are not going to put an exact number on how many fatalities they are dealing with at this point. the triage center we have been talking about a focusing on in that area, we have seen people as i was saying who have been able to walk off the train themselves and they are being treated and some are being transported to the hospital as well. they are

variety of injuries as well. adrianna: we are listening in on a report from our sister station in seattle, washington. but we understand from authorities there is their main priority right now is to get survivors out and then to kind of triage the injured people on the scene and get the most important wants to the hospital immediately. the do say there are multiple fatalities in this, but they don't have an exact numbers and they are not confirming anything at this hour. there are multiple train cars on the other side of the bridge that have fallen off of the tracks and flipped over. we don't have the best vantage point, we are told that there are several train cars that have fallen off the tracks. you can see in this picture here to the right side of your screen there is one that is hanging onto i-5. there are several motorists on the interstate who were injured. no word yet on fatalities

vehicles on the roadways and the pictures you are looking at into posted by the sheriff stormed through the trains wheels came off, these are pictures of every damage done to the overpass as well. the amtrak train derailed right outside of said -- outside of seattle washington outside tacoma. you notice at least one of the trains cars was dangling off of the overpass, looking at right now on i-5. you see the backup of all the cars of the roadway. the southbound side of that freeway is now shut down. 75 people were on the train when it fell off the overpass at this point, it is still unclear how people are hurt. first responders are responding to this incident as a mass casualty event. transportat
