on what we're learning from investigators. .> good morning as you can see behind me, the crews are working overtime there . we just saw a crane lifting up one of these passenger cars off of the embankment. just dangling over the interstate. keep in mind, this is a very busy artery here. that's the biggest piece of breaking news. authorities are not saying that that's certainly the cause, but obviously alluding to the fact that it may have had a big role in what happened yesterday. they are still conducting this investigation. we have seen authorities from multiple agencies on the ground trying to figure out what exactly happened here and what caused this. they do say they haven't interviewed the engineer yet and they are hoping to finish all the interviews by today. but an investigation like this might take seven to 10 days to really figure out what

it together with what they have. we found out the speed information from a data report, the equivalent of the black rocks located in the rear of the locomotive. that was of course the only car that stayed on the track. the train had another one of these data recorders at the front of the train. that car, destroyed. they are trying to recover the box in get more information but all they are saying right now is that the train was definitely speeding over the limit and not quite getting to the point where they are saying that it was definitely the cause. larry: do you know when they might be able to free up in clear the area? it's such a big and busy court or. >> they are trying to have it cleared up by later this morning , they'reow that again working overtime. we saw the press conference from the ntsb just a few hours ago. more and more officials on the ground, just coming

colleagues flights, we saw officials coming down here, trying to clear the area but still maintain that this is an active crime scene and investigation at this time. larry: thank you for the update, talk you soon. looking ahead to what comes next , one of the first questions that people ask is what could have been done to prevent the crash like this in the first place. autria: safety advocates have pointed to positive train control technology and if that sounds familiar it's the same thing that they made huge push for after the deadly derailment in philadelphia. the problem is that it's expensive and congress has provided only a fraction of the funding needed. according to the latest statistics from the federal rail administration, only 41% of all passenger locomotives and 20% of tracks are equipped and ptc operable.
