minutes ago who said that the department is standing by its officers and that report. and said there were numerous witnesses to trantham's behavior. jonathan: thank you. now another developing story. flames shooting from apartment building in maryland. then this happened. >> i'm out of water. jonathan: trying to fight a fire with no water is impossible. dozens of people trying to find a place to stay less than a week before christmas. the homes are gone. maryland bureau chief brad bell in hill crest heights. you spoke to people who got out in time but it's frustrating for firefighters to run out of water. brad: it happened in the carriage hills apartments and the management asked to us stay away. two buildings damaged and 40 people displaced.

people without a home days before christmas because of the raging flames that ripped through section of prince george's county apartment. alison: this all unfolded at the carriage hills apartment this morning. we have team coverage for you today. we start with brad bell. brad: yeah, so the fire was back in the carriage hills apartment back in there. the management asked us to stay off the property so we can't show you the building. they have already started to rebuild. this was a bad fire. you will see the video. firefighters say a fire can double in seis if it is uncheck -- double in size if it's unchecked every minute. this had a head start. >> for the residents of the carriage hills apartments it was a terrifying morning. >> my gosh. it was like crazy flames. banging on the door saying it's a fire, telling folks to get out. >> the garden apartment style building was engulfed. >> video and the still photos tell the story. >> the fire was advanced on thece
