got away with the money. michelle: the men are still on the loose. brad bell is live in beltsville with what police are looking for. brad? brad: yeah, they want to catch the guys before they do it again. over the years we have shown you a lot of wild videos of the people stealing whole a.t.m.'s and not being able to get into them. last week the robber on the other side of that car in a free standing a.t.m. waited until it was open. now we show you how they did it. >> it was an unusual robbery and it was successful. armed couriers loading the a.t.m. at a beltsville bank of america hit for more than $200,000. now we can show you how it happened. abc7 obtained the bank security camera video. watch closely as the gunman suddenly appear, the weapons raised. seeming lie pointed at the victim's head. the victims are forced to the ground as the robbers grab a bag stuffed with cash. >> obviously concerns u

this, in the robbery. >> watch it again. look closely. the guy in black has a handgun. his accomplice the one with the red sleeves is holding what appears to be an a.k.-47 like assault rifle. the video doesn't show the rest of the caper, as the masked suspect run out of view. they jump into this van. they drive less than a quarter mile before they ditch that getaway car and vanish. the police now hope something in this video helps somebody recognize the pair. >> this stuff appeared to be well organized. and the people did appear to know what they were doing. that is a concern. >> so our team has done research and we have found there are similar cases like this in houston and athens, georgia, where the robbers waited for the couriers to open the a.t.m. to get to the money. but around here it is highly unusual. police are opening that somebody recognizes the guys in that

michelle: president trump is hailing tax overhaul passed by congress as a victory. but the democrats say the fight isn't over. >> i guess it's very simple. when you think you haven't heard this express. but we are making america great again. you haven't heard that, have you? >> republicans will rue the day they pass this bill. you can bet democrats will make sure of that. >> now polls show a majority of the americans believe the tax changes will benefit the rich and the corporations more than the middle class. senator al franken announced

will be january 2. the minnesota democrat announced last month he would step down after accusations of sexual misconduct. many democrats pressured him to step down but now some of them are having second thoughts on that asking franken to reconsider. jonathan: we knew it would be a close race. but it's not a close race. it's a tie. that is where we are now in the virginia 94 district race. a tie. after a recount this week the democrat had one vote lead. just one. now after a challenge the ballot was included. we are back now to a dead heat. richard reeve at the "live desk" with how this could come down to a coin flip. have we seen this before, rich? richard: it has only happened once, 20 years ago. coin toss for a name drawn out of a glass bowl. the race is a tie. there is no winner here. this is because of a single ballot that wasn't counted on tuesday. a ballot republicans contested this morning. >> we are declaring victory

smiles for the democrat shelly simonds. the election officials say he is won a five-hour recount by a single vote. >> two elected officials will observe them. they will make a call on what their determination is on the vote. riches then attorneys for the republican incumbent david yancey presented a letter by a g.o.p.-appointed recall official who says he signed off on a ballot not counted and he was "confused" at the time. the republicans argue it should go to yancey because it had bubbles for both candidates names filled in and the slash through the simonds name. he had chosen republican candidate in every other race in the ballot. in the end the election officials approved the ballot in favor of yancey which means right now there is no winner. >> in this case is not making a difference in one district. flipping it democrat or republican. but making a difference with who controls legislative chamber and the flow of legislation which will have a huge impact on public policy

jonathan: federal investigators wanted to know if the engineer in the deadly derailment was distracted. there was an engineer in training in the cab with him. the train hurdled off overpass on monday going more than 80 miles per hour. the speed limit posted for that section of the track or the curve was 30. officials say the train emergency brake went off automatically. that could mean that the engineer didn't realize the danger until it was too late. charlottesville now honoring the woman struck and killed by a car in the white nationalist rally. heather heyer was one of the counterprotesters. fourth street where she was hit and killed by a car renamed the honorary heather heyer way. her mother says she hopes this will help keep her daughter's memory and what she was fi

snee this video shows a man fighting a fire on the front porch. the doorbell alerted him to the fire in the first place. he was asleep. he got an alert and it was because of that, the doorbell. >> i looked to my right and outside the bedroom window i saw what looked to be flames. >> good thing he did. you can see the house is still there. a few weeks ago the christmas lights caught fire outside of a tennessee home as in the case it was a doorbell camera again that alerted the owner to the danger. check out this home surveillance video in d.c. who does this? a woman that is stealing christmas decorations from the front yard of a home on 25th street. that is her. taking her time. digging up the ornaments. there she goes. the boxes. want them? taking them. bye-bye.

they want to find out who she is. michelle: terrible. people dressed as santa claus picketed outside wal-mart. they are demanding they bring back holiday pay for workers after being eliminated last year. the wal-mart says they get a paid holiday off and cash out unused time off. jonathan: a top culinary store abruptly closed the doors and leaving the staff and students out in the cold days before christmas. michelle: some of them reached out to kimberly suiters to help them find answers and get the money back. kimberly: locked out. some met in the parking lot in gaithersburg.
