started getting rough. >> once i realized we going off the runway, i was like, ah-oh. >> reporter: this is how the flight ended up, hitting a patch of ice, spinning, sliding, facing the opposite direction. >> all of a sudden we start sliding and spinning and spinning and spinning. and ended up in a snowbank. >> it was like you were going four-wheeling. >> they said that the wind coming in was really bad, and he landed, and he thought he was okay and hit some ice. >> reporter: in between two runways, stuck in the snow. passengers weren't hurt, just a little jostled but cheering. >> pilot did a fantastic job. everyone was applauding him at the end. >> reporter: greeted by firefighters helping them off the stairway in the cold and bussed back to the terminal. their plane still stuck in the snow. >> it was crazy. it was normal, then all of a sudden it started getting rough and it happened pretty fast. my daughter slept through the entire time, through the landing. >> that is a good sleeper! i'll have what she's having.

administration being thrown out of office. just days ago, lawmakers led by fujimori's children helped derail an impeachment vote. police officers in california are mourning the loss of one of their own. andrew camilleri died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into his patrol vehicle. he and his partner had stopped their suv on the highway to monitor traffic. the driver was returning from a party and speeding and is in serious condition. the officer who is just 33 years old leaves behind a wife and three children. we are thinking about them. >> yeah. and now to a husband and wife in north carolina who had quite an eventful christmas eve. >> crystal travis was driving to meet her husband when she saw flames coming from a home. so she rushed in, not only helping the family escape but even saved some of their christmas presents.

her husband roger, meanwhile, was driving to meet her when he saw a group of people struggling to perform cpr on a baby. >> luckily, roger is an emt, so he pulled over, jumped into action reviving the baby. they are calling this a true christmas miracle. listen. >> we are like, what are the odds? it is the craziest day ever. >> god put us at the right moment at the right time for the people who needed it the most. >> welcome to our crazy life. >> it's amazing. they say they didn't think twice before stopping to help. everyone made it out okay and the baby is doing well. >> i love the idea of them showing up where they were supposed to meet. oh, so sorry i'm late, there was a fire and i had to save a family. sorry, i was late. i had to meet a baby. you always one-up me. he is a volunteer firefighter. he said it was a scary situation. he was still nervous about the situation.

filled with sadness. she was 68 years old. >> she's right in the center of that scene. and united airlines is facing another public relations nightmare. the airline is apologizing to a passenger who says the airline gave her first class seat to a congresswoman, sheila jackson. an airline spokesman says its internal system showed that she had canceled her seat after a weather delay, but she denies she ever canceled that december 18 flight from washington to houston. she was given a seat in economy plus instead. earlier this year, united faced backlash have dragging dr. david dao. from his seat, or security officials did. he had refused to give up his seat to make room for crew members for the airline. he later reached an undisclosed settlement with united. it's the day after christmas, also known as part two of the holiday shopping season.

to secure the win over the oakland raiders last night. and then as time was running out, derrick barnett recovered a fumble for a touchdown. the final score, eagles 19, raiders 10. five nba stars kept fans entertained. >> the timber wolves beat the lakers. the wolves scored 12 straight points. midway through the final quarter to pull away for the win. >> kyle kuzma led all the scores, most by any rookie on christmas in 14 years but not enough to beat the wolves. and in oklahoma city, russell westbrook led the scoring, as the thunder notched their fifth straight win, beating the rockies 112-107. houston's james harden was held to 29 points. he usually scores way more than that. he says he has no doubt the rockets will return to form as soon as they get back some of their injured players.
