roy moore is now headed to court to try and stop the state from certifying democrat doug jones as the winner of the u-s senate race. moore filed the lawsuit late last night. jones defeated moore by about 20-thousand votes in the december 12th special election, but moore refuses to concede. his lawsuit claims there may have been voter fraud. developing now in maryland. a homeowner may be facing criminal charges, after a car break-end ends in gunfire. police say deontae parker and another man tried to break into a vehicle on sligosly-go parkway early tuesday morning. authorities say the vehicle's owner saw them, then fatally shot parker from inside the home. the shooter's daughter called 9-1-1. parker was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. neighbors say several children were inside the house at the time of the incident. detectives are

state's attorney's office to determine if the homeowner should be charged. new this morning. president trump's legal team is reportedly zeroing in on a new target-- former trump adviser michael flynn. according to the washington post-- the president's lawyers will attack flynn's credibility and paint him as a liar. flynn is now cooperating with special counsel robert mueller's investigation into russian meddling in the 2016 election. flynn accepted a plea deal, and pleaded guilty to lying to the fbi. still ahead, we are starting what will be one of the coldest days of the year. and there is morning trouble on the way.

this morning-- we're hearing from passengers on that "flight to nowhere" we have been talking about since tuesday. four hours into a tokyo-bound flight from los angeles -- the crew realized there was an extra person on board -- and turned the plane around. it turns out, a d-c couple was also onboard that flight heading to their honeymoon. and they were not happy to lose a whole day of their trip. to make it worse-- the couple says only gave them about 265-dollars, to make up for the inconvenience. model chrissy teigen was on board with her husband, musician john legend. she live tweeted the ordeal -- asking: "why did we all get punished for this one person's mistake?" passengers were delayed by more than 15 hours. a bad date can ruin your night. but what happnened in texas-- ruin

there's a new advisory from the i-r-s -- about pre-paying next year's property taxes. hundreds of people lined up in fairfax wednesday -- hoping they could deduct their 2018 property taxes, on this year's return -- by paying early. that's because a 10-thousand dollar state - and local - tax-deduction cap... kicks in next year. but the i-r-s says -- you can only pre-pay if you've already gotten an assessment... and fairfax officials say -- they haven't sent assessments out yet. they're now looking into options for refunds. a new president.. racial tensions.. devastating hurricanes.. and a magnificent sight in the sky. they're just a few of the major national news stories this year. omar jimenez has more as we look back on 2017. coming up on good morning

free from the apple app store and google play. remember this unbelievable scene from earlier this month on route 28? police now charging the man who went on a naked rampage in herndon. jose flores is charged with three felonies and four lesser charges. marijuana possession - is among those charges. police still haven't said whether drugs were involved in this unusual incident though. a barber in madison, wisconsin is accused of shaving a bald patch on a man's head.. on purpose. the customer asked for his hair to be cut with a number two clipper, and scissors to be used to trim the top. he says the barber accused him of fidgeting.. then snipped his ear with scissors, and cut a bald pathway down the middle of his head. the customer called police, who arrested the barber. he's expected in court next month on mayhem and disorderly conduct charges. he claims it was all an accident. happening now.. security preparations for
