to die in the middle of the evening rush area and the temperatures into the teens and the cold snap is sticking around into the new year. bronx, a devastating fire has left at least 12 people dead and several seriously injured at an apartment building just blocks from the bronx zoo. nearly 200 firefighters are working in the bone chilling cold, with temperatures in the teens. stay with abc seven for updates on the story. jonathan: and in the district come a car in flames. nancy: when fire crews responded, they found a person dead inside. tom roussey has the developing story. tom? tom: the police have been on the scene for about three and a half hours. this is the alley where the car the 700 blockween

the car was little on fire. neighbors heard gunshots and later a loud explosion. police and fire were called to the scene and they discovered a body inside the vehicle after the fire was put out. they have not identified the body, but neighbors described not just an explosion from the fire but gunshots prior to that, so homicide detectives are on the scene going over the car, trying to figure out what happened. at this point the police are not saying much other than they are investigating this as a murder in southeast tonight. tom roussey, abc 7 news. nancy: tom, thank you. police in prince george's county trying to find weber shot a man to leave him to die during busy highway. tim barber has that investigation that is underway. tim: investigators are asking for the public's

the killer. the man who was shot was found on the south side of 295 near state route 50 at about 6 a.m. this morning. we know the man was shot in the upper body, but we do not know the location of the shooting. the police say it is too early to tell if the man was dumped on the side of the road. he was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since died. >> anybody who knows any information, give us a call. it is important that we bring this case to a close. tim: as soon as we get more information about the man and the way that he was found on the side of the road, exactly what happened, we will put it on the abc 7 mobile app. tim barber, abc 7 news. jonathan: the other big story is the winter weather, the temperatures hovering in the teens. we are
