welcome to new day cleveland. i'm natalie herbick, and if you haven't figured it out just yet, we are doing an entire show about burgers, one of my favorite things. so we're traveling all over northeast ohio. i'm hanging out here at swenson's in akron, and while i check out this menu, i'm going to send you to north canton to a place where they smoke their burgers. (upbeat music) - smoke the burger joint is one of only a couple of restaurants in the country that actually features smoked hamburgers as the main menu item. so we start with a custom blend of angus beef, fresh meat, never frozen, season it, slow smoke it, and then it's a fast finish on the grill where we kind of get it sizzling again, melt the cheeses, and top it with some creative flavors from all across the country. like, we'll take inspiration from buffalo, and do a buffalo

that has bleu cheese and shaved celery on it with a buffalo mayo. we'll do a kansas city steakhouse burger that has mushrooms and bleu cheese on it. barbecue restaurants have large smokers doing 1,800 pounds of meat. here we have three smaller smokers, frankie, angus, and chuck who do all the work for us. we're constantly smoking nine to 18 burgers at a time so that we're just being ready for the crowd that's coming in. we're using real hickory chips that are smoking and infusing flavor into the meat. so right off the bat you already have a flavor profile that's unlike anything besides the great angus beef burgers, we do a fresh turkey burger. it's a gremolata burger with lemon zest and parsley and garlic in the burger. those have become very popular. the menu is more

we have smoked wings. we have grilled cheese that features smoked cheese in it. we have milkshakes, again taking that idea of not being a regular milkshake, exotic flavors in them. - this is one of our milkshakes, made with premium vanilla ice cream, some two percent milk. got our ice cream here, we add in our premium vanilla ice cream'sic we have the ice cream here this will be our salted caramel pretzel ourrame number one seller. they've got
