year, but officials say tonight's town hall came after the company's set to build the i-77 toll lanes filed for bankruptcy on a toll lane project in texas. >> we felt like we needed to put facts out there and to get this straightened out. >> reporter: the widen i-77 group presented an analysis of the toll lane project during a town hall meeting at the cornelius town hall. the presentation highlighted common features of private tolling projects from all over the country, and compared them to the project right here in north carolina. >> at the end of the day, right, it is pretty clear this is a method and a methodology of cintra and how they do business and canceled many projects in the past and fully expect this one to default as well. >> it's a misuse of money, and we need to learn more about that and pay attention to what our government's doing, no matter if you are a democrat or republican, it doesn't matter. everybody needs to pay

january 2015, he sexually assault his stepson at their home in monroe. when the teen told mom about abuse, she notified authorities and began the investigation. he must register as a sex offender for 30 years. law enforcement groups are asking north carolina legislators not to mandate how, when or if they should use body cameras. they want that decision to be made within their departments. we've reached out to several local sheriff's offices and found out they take the same stance as the nc sheriffs association. the group does not want body cameras to be a statewide requirement, saying local law enforcement agencies should decide that on their own. >> just to say you've got to have them may be the wrong way to go. kayla: gaston county sheriff says it's one thing to require the cameras but the big question is where will the funding come from? up next a legislative subcommittee will decide a recommendation that will go to the full committee, the general

legislation is needed. we now know the identity of the person killed. they found two men shot including 24-year-old michael antoine jefferies, jr., pronounced dead at the scene. a third man was found at a nearby hospital. detectives believe this was not a random act of violence are and still investigating. plaza-midwood diners are on high alert as the search continues for the person responsible for holding up one of the area's most popular restaurants. someone robbed the midwood smokehouse on central avenue. someone came into the restaurant around midnight, flashed a gun and stole an unknown amount of money. police have no suspects. if you know anything about this case, you are asked to contact crimestoppers. scary moments for passengers leaving on an

sam smith takes us inside the house where craig was living inside those cats. >> reporter: 90 cats inside one home. now as you would imagine, there was a cause for concern for animal control investigators. the cats were surrendered from this home in mooresville to the iredell animal shelter. >> we've been here late at night several nights, working with rescues in and out of the state. >> reporter: director brad gates says they're focused on pursuing charges against the owner of the cats. we're told gail craig now faces 90 counts of animal cruelty, and two counts of failure to properly dispose of a deceased animal. two cats were found dead inside the home. >> the amount of urine and feces in the situation, a high level of ammonia in the atmosphere. some of the cats were, were sick and not receiving treatment. >> reporter: animal control

chinese manufacturer is building a brand-new production facility in south carolina. the building will be a first for the company. various openings include machine ops, technicians and customer service options. they'll start hiring over the next five years. if you're a frequent flier for business or pleasure, then this will be music to your ears. a new ten year lease between charlotte douglas international and all of the major carriers is expected to be approved by city council monday night. delta, united, american, southwest and jetblue are all part of the deal that will replace american airlines 30 year hub operation deal. another big component of the deal, those airlines have pledged to put $500 million in terminals. an iredell county man facing major charges after his

daniel lee sheryl was house sitting for a friend but when the owner came back, police say sheryl had changed all the locks on the hours, driven her car, even stolen a number of items including the car. after an investigation, detectives say sheryl admitted to everything. he's been hit with a long list of felony charges. a fox 46 follow-up. the man accused of breaking into a number of cars at area fire departments has been charged with yet another one. 26-year-old johnny bing of charlotte has now been charged with stealing a gun from a firefighter's car at mount more fire department. bing is accused of breaking into 15 different cars at various charlotte area fire departments while crews were out on calls. at $25,000. trader joes is pulling bag of pistachios off shelves due to health concerns. nationwide.
