mysterious death. two teenage boys are found on the light rail tracks in baltimore county and now both are dead. tonight the investigation and why their family suspects foul play. hello, i'm denise koch. here's what people are talking about tonight. two baltimore county families are waiting for answers just hours after the second of two teens dies after they're found lying on a set of light rail tracks. eyewitness news is live. kelly mcpherson talked to the sister of one of the boys. >> reporter: the family tells me a he key piece of evidence is missing in this story. the bike the boys were riding on when they left the house on sunday. the facts in the deaths of two

teens on the light rail don't add up for many people. >> i feel like there was foul play and someone just dropped them off back there. >> reporter: and now the family of the two boys tells wjz they want answers. 17-year-old kyle and connor lived together like stepbrothers in lutherville. the family tells us the boys left the house together sunday afternoon on their bikes. a few hours later, their bodies were found on the southbound light rail track near the house. both teens have died. but they weren't necessarily hit by a train. >> it's a very difficult situation. they were found lying inside of the tracks, and so generally when someone is struck by a train, we're still trying to understand the circumstances that got them in the middle of the track. >> family members say this is still a mystery. the boys' bikes were nowhere to be found. they say it's possible that someone could have placed the boys on the tracks, so they

could get hit. connor's sister lives with the boys. she says, we love them. we hope someone will come forward so the family can have closure. the mta is still investigating and checking trains for damage. information from the public would help. >> it's something that i didn't think would happen. you hear about stuff like that but it doesn't happen too often. >> reporter: the family also tells me when they saw the boins the hospital to them it looked like they had been beaten up badly and not hit by a train. they also tell me that kyle's cell phone has been taken to help with the investigation. live from lutherville, kelly mcpherson, wjz eyewitness news. >> thank you, kelly. kyle would have been in 11th grade this fall. connor had recently finished his ged. new information is emerging tonight about the murder of former ravens quarterback steve mcnair. we now know his reported girlfriend bought the gun that killed the two this weekend.

that's just one piece of the puzzle police are trying to put together tonight. adam may reports for wjz the couple met just six months ago. >> reporter: smiling pictures of steve mcnair and his 20-year- old girlfriend sahel kazemi obtained by tmz make it hard to understand how the relationship could end so suddenly. kazemi was shot once in the head. so far the evidence points to murder-suicide. >> it was only when the bodies were moved, before they were about start moving the body that the pistol was discovered underneath her. >> can you tell us what kind of gun it is? >> it's a sem is me automatic pistol. >> reporter: relatives told kazemi that mcnair was planning to divorce his wife michelle so the two could get married. a few days ago she also said she bought a gun, without further explanation. mcthayer was one of the nfl's great quarterbacks leading the ravens to an afc north

championship in 2006. he ended his impressive 13- season career in 2008. >> my career will speak for itself. i enjoyed it. i can look back on it and reflect back on it and i wouldn't change a thing. >> reporter: in his heart, mcnair was a day than, leading that team it to the super bowl in 2000. >> the steve mcnair that i knew would want me to say sorry. i'm not perfect. we all make decisions sometimes that are not in the best interest, please forgive me. >> reporter: but in baltimore, not all fans are forgiving. >> victim. he's a victim of whatever personal choices he made, but ultimately, he didn't take his own life, someone took it from him. >> kind of kills his own legacy. that's what my generation is going to remember him as. >> reporter: a few days before mcnair and his girlfriend were

pulled over for dwi. she was the driver. he was the passenger. police september him home in a taxi. >> there are public memorials planned for mcnair later this week. two viewings will be held thursday in nashville. the fan will be held saturday in mississippi. stay with eyewitness news for complete coverage. to e-mail us your thoughts go to wjz.com. a young man is dead tonight, killed while swimming in the waters off dundalk. skyeye chopper 13 was over the creek as dive rescue crews searched for the 22-year-old. police aren't sure what went wrong but friends say they were all swimming when suddenly the as yet unidentified man went under and never came back up. >> by the time they got to me he was already gone. he's 6 foot, and i'm 5' 3". he was yelling he couldn't

sex marriages performed in other states should probably be recognized here in maryland. right now attorney general doug gansler is looking into whether same-sex marriages performed out of state can be recognized in this state. governor o'malley says if the law allows it, then he will support it. what in the world was that? it's the question people across northern baltimore county, harford county, southern pennsylvania are asking tonight. early this morning something strange was seen and felt in those areas. eyewitness news is live in baltimore county. kai jackson spoke with one man who says he caught it on his camera. >> reporter: that's right, the baltimore county man says it was a meteor that flew across the sky and only time will tell if he is right. mike hankie owns a software company in baltimore. that's his profession. but astronomy is his passion. >> very addictive. ask my wife about that. the vastness of it, just the

infinity and something that could you spend a lifetime studying and never even scratch the surface on it. >> reporter: yet last night this self-described amateur astronomer hit the mother lode. >> and i heard a big noise outside, a boom, then my house shook a little bit, which was strange, but with 4th of july and everything, i just chocked it up as fireworks. >> reporter: after the boom, he went outside to check his camera connected to his high- powered tell he scope and realized it captured this image of what hankie believes is a meteor. >> this morning i got a text message about a meteor that had flown other baltimore. i looked at the picture again and was like, oh my this is the meteor. >> reporter: adding of lid tee were a flood of calls into baltimore county police and the harford county sheriff's office. >> we received numerous calls reference to a loud explosion and a white light in the skies,

several citizens reported their house shaking. >> reporter: calls into wjz's media partner the baltimore sun reported, quote, it was like someone pointed a flashlight in my eyes, it was so bright, end quote. now, mike hankie admits it may not have been a meteor. in fact, it's quite possible it was some type of space junk that just fell out of the sky and burned itself up. i think he would be a little disappointed if that was the case. by the way, denise, did he contact nasa, noaa, asking with as norad. >> what do they say? did they record anything? >> they haven't responded anything, but hankie has a good point. he says if this, in fact, was some satellite, he's not sure that the government or military is going to be very anxious about talking about that. that might not be the case but he certainly is hoping to hear back from somebody. >> let's hope that whatever it was, it didn't hit the earth. >> reporter: i think there were people outlooking for evidence that maybe did it hit, but he

it is 71 degrees with a few clouds across central maryland. the complete first warning forecast is coming up. but first, a serial murder suspect who terrorized a south carolina community has been found and killed by police. officers in north carolina reported to a citizen report of a suspicious vehicle. they say patrick tracy burris fired at the officers who then shot and killed him. the bullets in burris' gun matched those used to kill five people over the past two weeks. former district of columbia mayor marion barry is arrested and now faces stalking charges. he appeared with his attorney to deny the claims. a former girlfriend made the complaint after the two called off a weekend trip. barry is scheduled to be in court to see if formal charges will be filed. his attorney feels that will not happen.

>> we believe that the charge is baseless. we believe that the charge stems from a personal relationship that has gone horribly wrong in a lot of ways. >> in a statement today donna watts brighthouse seemed to contradict her stalking charges. she claims that she does not want to see barry officially charged. police, however, are still continuing the investigation. tonight outrage and grief. people filled the streets in southwest baltimore where a little girl was shot just days before. as they prayed for her recovery, the teenager accused of pulling the trigger faced a judge. mike hellgren reports on his troubled past. >> it was one child, but it might as well have been hundreds of children. >> reporter: the crowd here was fed up with the violence and saddened that a little girl, five-year-old raven, is suffering right now. on this very corner in southwest baltimore last thursday she was caught in a gunfight, shot in the head.

>> i just hope something good come out of this. >> it's a devastating action, mindless, really all in one word senseless. >> reporter: a judge denied bail for 17-year-old lamonte davis. police say he fired the handgun while fighting with another teen. the baltimore sun reports davis was placed on home monitoring one day before the shooting for another crime, but he was allowed to go back home until sentencing. the paper reports davis cut off his gps equipped monitoring device. he has a lengthy juvenile criminal history. >> it was a tragedy. shouldn't have never happened. it's ridiculous, guns on the streets, first of all, and i'm pulling for her. >> reporter: now this community is coming together as a little girl clings to life, vowing that what's happened to her will not be in vain. raven's family has asked the

hospital not give updates on her condition at this point. reporting in southwest baltimore, mike hellgren, wjz eyewitness news. >> lamonte davis faces life in prison if he is found guilty of attempted first-degree murder. a star of the harry potter film thought he might die after contracting the swine flu. rupert grint said he was scared at first but then recovered in a few days in bed. tomorrow is the world premier of the 6th harry potter movie. he came down with the swine flu while he was filming the 7th installment of the series. well, the magnificent side of the volvo ocean race may be returning to maryland. representatives from the city and state have their eye on the 2012 race. baltimore and annapolis have hosted the event three times. the spectacle brings millions of dollars to the area economy. the around the world race stopped in just one u.s. port city. the selection is expected in january. >> well, we had some pretty

good weather this weekend for boating. >> my gosh, it was summer. >> take a look at temperatures now. pleasant temperatures really, all things considered. dew point low. 71. dew point still in the 50s. the winds are dead calm. that means south at no. no miles per hour. humidity is 60%, barometer steady. temperatures today actually pretty close to normal. 86, and normal would be 87. but with low humidity, low dew points, it was comfortable. the sun is hot this time of year, no doubt about that. this morning 58, our average low is 65. the record is 101 and 51. around the state now with just a few high clouds that are blocking a little bit of that moonlight, 76 in ocean city, 62 in oakland. some spots in the mountains will be back in the low to mid- 50s as they've been the last couple nights.

the dew point is still below 60 is, means it's still very comfortable. around the local region, low 70s, still pretty nice. very light winds, a bit of a southerly flow. now, tomorrow we're going to see some clouds moving in. why? i'll show you in a minute. we had some clouds tonight, just some high, thin clouds. these are not rain producers. to our north, there's the front. across the great lakes into new york some showers across eastern new york, new england. this front is going to be sliding across the region. down to our south, showers, thunderstorms, hot and humid. for us, kind of in between systems, but plenty of sunshine. this front will bring us some clouds tomorrow afternoon. maybe a scattered shower. maybe even a pop-up shower, but very widely scattered. behind this front we cool down once again with that front going through wednesday into thursday. the end of the week, by friday and saturday, definitely on the more humid side, you are going

elbow surgery. in boston tonight, an emotional homecoming for former red sox short stop nomar garciapara, now with oakland. he got a standing ovation that lasted more than a minute. prior to the game he was on the brink of tears talking about his love for boston fans. in his second at-bat against red sox starter john smoltz, nomar would single in a run to start the scoring for the a's. he welcomes himself back with two hits and oakland goes on to beat boston. strong emotions in nashville. current and former members of the tennessee titans, including eddie george and longtime coach jeff fisher gather to reflect on the life and career of murdered quarterback steve mcnair. mcnair played 11 seasons with the titans before finishing here in baltimore. tennessee is where the qb is most reveered. >> oh, he loved nashville. and i talked to him also about his experience in baltimore, and he loved that experience.

the reopening of the crown on the statue of liberty marked a new beginning for a california couple. aaron proposed, as in marriage to erica in front of other tourists on the narrow deck. she said yes even though he was wearing that silly crown. until saturday that crown in the statue of liberty had been closed since the 9/11 attack.
