he was shot to death by his girlfriend july 4th. he was probably sleeping when he was shot twice in the head and then in the chest and then she turned the gun on herself. two days before the shooting, she was arrested in nashville for drunk driving. police video shows her telling officers she was high. a man is on probase for selling the gun to his girlfriend. a man at chick fillet says he was robbed at the parking lot. he was about to make a drop for the restaurant. before he left the parking lot, someone got inside his car and demanded money. he fled with the bank deposit and he returned unharmed. >> family of the man accuse of

shooting two police officers over the weekend are speaking out and saying they're sorry about what happened. one of the officers and the accused shooter is recovering. mike. >> reporter: officer jerome shaurette is in stable condition after surgery and the family of the shooter says he's a good man who snapped. new pictures wjz obtained shows shawn sinclair, the man accused of shooting two police officers loaded into an ambulance. he's had a battle with mental illness. >> i'm here to apology to the families and whatever happens. i heard what they say, that he was a maniac and he probably was but he was not in his right mind. he's a caring man. >> he worked at this foot

locker and has five children and an arrest record back to 1993. police say on saturday he assaulted two women he had been involved with and ambushed the officers responsing. one officer was in this car. >> he say he was tired and ready to die. he said there's going to be some trouble down here. police car pull down the street and he went up to the car and shot all of his bullets into the car. >> reporter: home video obtained by wjz shows the aftermath. some say police beat him after the shooting. the commissioner responded. >> i have very few apologies to make about his condition or the outcome of this incident. if our men weren't there to stop this maniac, who knows what he would have done to innocent people on the street. >> he has a family, he's not a

. baltimore county in shock after three churches are broken into. how they got in and what the thieves were looking to take. >> reporter: police still have a lot of unanswered questions about the church break ins but they think the motive was fast cash. >> reporter: the senior pastor addresses a shocked congregation on sunday. it was one of three that was broken into. >> the robbers came through

. beautiful weekend. very nice. the only complaint we're getting from farmers, we need some rain it's been beautiful and low humidity, but we have been deficient this month. not last month. but this month with all of that sun and dry conditions, it's getting dry. we have rain around the region, it's mostly south now. some of it is going to effect the region. pretty good batch of rain to packs river. some thunderstorms as well. most of it looks like to the d.c. area, a few sprinkles

leaving the ocean beach region and more showers through allegheny and western washington county and portions of garrett up to the north towards pennsylvania. around baltimore, just a few sprinkles showing up across some of the mountain areas east of fredericson, generally some possibility of some showers moving in this evening and hopefully we get some decent rain. 81 at dwi. 65 they're getting rain in oakland. cumberland down to 72 and showers. the dew point hasn't come up a lot. very comfortable. upper 70s and more like early september than mid-july right now. east winds have been bringing in some additional moisture off of the ocean keeping it cool. temperatures not extreme this week anymore around the region. a lot of clouds, sprinkles

across virginia and during the day they move north. we have a lot of dry air, the radar shows precipitation, nobody is reporting anything except down in virginia. hopefully we get some of the rain and get some precipitation. a big batch of rain across florida moving up the east coast. a lot of it passes to the east in the atlanta ocean and out in the mountains getting some lifting of the moisture around the mountains. we do have a pretty good batch of rain. hopefully some in tonight and during the day tomorrow. looks like a wet afternoon in some spots, wednesday most of it passes us, thursday another chance of getting rain as the front approaches from the west. bay temperature around 78 degrees. tonight, hopefully some showers and maybe some thunderstorms. 66 tomorrow, pretty good shot, maybe 60% of showers and thunderstorms.

on thursday. it's going to be humid and feel like summer again. 86, chances of rain diminish in some areas friday and saturday. 86, 88 warm and humid to start the weekend. thank you. an incredible effort underway and caught on tape. a family of three trapped inside this burping car. they rushed in to help. they were able to get them out. a four-year-old boy was the most severely burn and the mother told police she likely fell asleep and hit a tree. it was a rescue at sea. three men got off of a burning boat. a coast guard tried to put the fire out. no wore on what caused the fire. an overnight brush fire gets close to the sacramento airport. flames seen for miles away.

it took 3 hours to get the blaze under control. operations at the airport not effected. the investigation into the cause going on. a colorado man fights off a mountain lion while on a trip. he jump out of the brush and took a swipe at him. he grabbed a chain saw and hit the animal on the shoulder. >> i hit it and that was enough. it had enough and left. which i didn't expect it was going to. i was sure it would circle around and try again. >> he is grateful his children weren't hurt. full employment won't be seen for about 6 years. a jobless rate predicted at 8%
