looking outside, and i saw the trees across the street lay down. >> a trail of destruction, hundreds of trees on homes and cars as the storm tears through maryland. >> tonight, complete coverage of the damage, the cleanup and the rush to get powerball on. >> i'm denise koch. and i'm vic carter. tonight, the evidence of a storm that unleased its wrath on maryland. the pictures are incredible. trees with power lines and while the winds knocked trees across roadways and on to cars. bernadette woods will explain how the storm hit. but adam may shows us the damage. >> reporter: the power cruiser hard at work tonight. damage in two counties. it's hard to see underhere, but her car is the least of her worries. 24 hours after severe weather, she's waiting on insurance to look at the hole in her roof.

mayor, police commissioner and residents. on foot, in patrol cars and in the air. baltimore police swarmed in east side neighborhood. the scene of multiple shootings, two of them fatal, over the weekend. at the 2600 block of ashland avenue. >> you see in the product of an environment that needs change bad. >> reporter: city police say 18 people were shot, two of them fatally. 12 shot on sunday at a backyard cookout. drugs and turf washes are the reasons. >> i heard the bullets. they shot into the crowd. people were running and yelling. >> reporter: among the injured, a 2-year-old girl and a pregnant women. >> it's people's responsibility to speak up. think about the pregnant woman, a baby, other people. it's their responsibility. people who knew what happened. >> reporter: two hours later, two young men were fatally shot

gunshot wound. the exact circumstances, not yet known. three people dead after an didn't in baltimore county. the car full of people collided with a street sweeper. weijia jiang reports. >> reporter: it was meant to be an early morning commute. >> they were just trying to get to where they were supposed to go. >> reporter: they are the three people killed in a monday morning crash. >> it's a horrible way to go. >> reporter: the victims were all in a small car together, when the driver tried to turn left on to honeygo boulevard off of white marsh boulevard. >> they drove into the path of a sweeper that hit it in a t- bone fashion. >> one car was clearly involved in fire, and the sweeper was half involved in fire. >> reporter: public works authorities say the street sweeper was not part of the

city fleet. crews at the maryland department of environment were on the scene. some oil spilled on to the road. for now, police do not know who was at fault or what happened. as for the three who died here, it's been difficult to pinpoint who they are or where they're from. >> we think that this may have had a temporary tag on it. so detectives and investigators are looking at the vin number. >> reporter: detectives are waiting for autopsy reports from the medical examiner's office. it could take weeks. weijia jiang, 13 news at 11:00.

three cars derailed when the conductor put the train in reverse. one car came to rest near perryville. no injuries. police in new york believe the driver of a car going the wrong way was sick before a crash that claimed eight lives. diane shuler's brother urged her to pull off the road. her car later crashed into another car, only her son survived. he is hospitalized. michael vick can start to reclaim his nfl career. roger goodell conditionally reinstated the contract. if a team signs him, he can immediately take part in practice and two preseason games. the commissioner will decide by mid-october when vick can play in the regular season. will your child be protected against the swine flu when the school year starts?

first warning doppler radar, some thunderstorms out there. centered with the same system moving through the. you can see some thunderstorms northern baltimore county, extreme northwestern hartford county and in carroll county. we'll show you no watches, no warnings, no longer in effect for us. they are all gone. but we have had a few rounds of thunderstorms today. mainly for the southeastern shore. winds are light out there. at the same time, the moisture starting to rise. because of the that, we're going to see fog overnight. now, the other thing too, temperatures drops, but not that much further. 76 in baltimore, 73 in cumberland. 70 overnight. 87 for the high today. we're going to be at or above that over the next few days.

the other thing that we'll see is the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms almost each and every day. on the back of the front here, some thunderstorms around. close enough tomorrow we could see more pop up. mainly in the afternoon and evening hours, but here comes in next one from the west. ahead of it on wednesday, another round of thunderstorm are possible. so thursday and friday, because it's going to take some time for the front to go through. in this atmosphere, it is possible that they could become strong to even severe. tonight, any thunderstorms out there are dying down. there's nothing severe at this point. some fog overnight, then tomorrow, 90 degrees once again. mix of sun and clouds, and another round, mainly afternoon and evening, we see that again so on wednesday. again so on thursday, and possibly into friday with that next front.
