4:14 pm
40% in some cases. but at least for now, they've stabilized. >> agents say it is partly due to the tax credit for buyers. and while it might be too soon to predict a full blown recovery, wall street likes what it sees. >> we're looking at the housing to give confidence so the housing market can continue to incline. >> reporter: it will be costly for sellers like john, who for now have no way out. alexis christoforous, cbs news, new york. here's a look at the closing numbers on wall street. nasdaq off 8. hope is fading for dozens of people missing in the atlantic ocean. search teams are back on the water near the islands near the turks and caicos. more than 100 people have already been rescued. but 70 are still missing.

4:20 pm
so are we out of the woods just yet, bernadette? >> can't say that right now. even with the severe thunderstorm warnings, you could have winds close to 60 miles per hour. and we still have some thunderstorms out there that are pretty strong. want to show you first warning doppler radar. at least we don't have the tornado warnings. that is good news. we take you up to the tornado warning. notice all the bright reds, popping up and racing off to the northeast. that is when we had three separate thunderstorm cells that prompted a tornado
4:21 pm
warning. we also had this one out to the west, which is now out to pennsylvania. but still pretty strong thunderstorms out there. it is making its way just along 95. golena. chestertown to the north and south. and a few rumbles of thunder near you also. brighter showers, just to the south of queenstown. and this thunderstorm itself, specifically, is moving off to the northeast at about 20 to 25 miles per hour. churchill, it will be moving your way at 4:35 is a good estimate for that. off to the south of that, we have more thunderstorms continuing down this line. just a break at this point. a few sprinkles near st. michael's. with a heavier part to the north. we need to open this up and show you there is more off to the south. moving aur way. also, this batch looks pretty
4:22 pm
nasty. we don't have any warnings yet. just a marine warning. but we can see areas where there is purple. thunderstorms are still out there. what we want to do now is switch it over and show you no warnings in effect. that is good news. but we will continue to monitor this, because these thunderstorms have the history of being severe. as far as the situation goes overall, here's how it all came together. we had these to the south. but these bright colors were the ones we were really concerned with. also this batch to the south. winds have been out of the southwest, ahead of all of this, and really pumping up some high amounts of moisture. dew point is up to 70 degrees. temperatures are varying because of these storms. elsewhere, we're still in the 80s and upper 80s. here's another look at the dew points across the area. because they're really fueling these thunderstorms. when you have dew points above 65 degrees, thunderstorms have the potential to become severe. we're talking 70 in baltimore. 77 in eston.
4:23 pm
and that is why we are so concerned with these thunderstorms. the situation on the whole is this. it's a large storm down to the southwest. all of this is going to move our way tonight. still the chance for showers and thunderstorms. then we get rid of this front tomorrow. and another follows for friday. tonight, we are going down to about 70 degrees with strong thunderstorms down there. starting to wind down. tomorrow, still a chance for thunderstorms. but still possible. 90 degrees, warm and muggy. then the chances increase once again with the next storm on friday. so we're really on the pattern and not quite seeing the end yet. >> we hate you for saying that. [ laughter ] >> and if you're going down to ocean city in this type of pattern, just be careful from day to day. our chances do vary on the beaches there. but one good thing, water will feel cool with the warm temperatures. >> at least it will all go away when august hits, right? right. >> sure. be sure to catch csi new

4:29 pm
the mayor denies all of them. a couple of months ago, a judge said that she had legislative immunity. because he based a lot of these charges on her vote while he was city council president. and he could not do that. this time, he's basing them on, we're thinking on evidence or testimony, perhaps, from her ex- boyfriend, ron lipscomb, who accepted a guilty plea. a few moments ago, we received a statement, from the mayor's attorney. and here it is. he says the new charges are as flawed as those that were previously dismiss the. and we -- dismissed. and we upon -- we expect they will meet the same fate. that is arnold weiner, the mayor's attorney. and also councilwoman helen holton and john paterakis. we have not received any statement from the mayor herself since these new charges
4:30 pm
were filed. but basically, they're very similar to the charges that were introduced before. and many of those charges were dismissed, with the exception of stealing gift cards meant for the needy. back to you, denise. >> all right. thank you very much. and we invite you to stay with eyewitness news for complete coverage of the city hall probe. wjz is always on. and for instant updates and the state prosciert, go to wjz.com. -- prosecutor. go to wjz.com. here is a story we're closely now. the weather. ittornado warnings expired in several states in the hour. tracking it all in the first warning weather center. we had five different counties under tornado warnings. let's show you on first warning doppler radar. those have now moved on and aren't quite as storm. but it started with this one in allegheny. then this batch here that we're highlighting moved off to the northeast. we had tornado warnings for
4:31 pm
a.a., p.g., and howard counties. these are still some strong thunderstorms. and they're covering a lot of the area. there are no warnings at this point. but take a look at this thunderstorm, racing off to the northeast at 20 to 25 miles per hour. just around golena. also, this one, west of henderson, pretty strong. and it is moving off to the northeast. we're going to take you even farther south than this. because the line continues on. st. michael's is really starting to pick up for you. even noticing some purples coming in off the water. that's an indication probably some hail out of this. and another thing we have to watch for in this situation, when these are over the water, they can produce water spouts, as we have seen already this year. and farther south, we have this entire line coming in from the bay. making its way into the southern parts of the eastern shore. not quiteat all in the -- quite at all in the beach locations yet. but it is generally moving in that location. at this point, no warnings are in effect. but that could be changing. we're going to take you through
