. midair collision, a plane and a helicopter crash into new york's hudson river. accounts, the latest from investigators and the search for bodies. thank you, i'm adam may. the ntsb is releasing deal tails about the tragedy on the hudson. we have the latest for wjz news from new york. >> reporter: paramedics rushed to the hudson river but there was to one to treat. >> there is a big puff of smoke and a couple of seconds after.

>> reporter: the sound of a plane in and a helicopter colliding and plunging into the river. this is provided by fox shows the collision that severed one of the wings. rescuers realized there was no hope for the people on board. >> i think it is fair to say this has changed from a rescue to a recovery mission. >> reporter: five italians were touring by air on the helicopter. this woman saw some of the relatives at a heliport. >> they said to me there are relatives inside the helicopter. >> reporter: the plane left the airport in new jersey with three people op board, including a child. another helicopter pilot on the ground saw the plane moving toward the chopper. he tried to radio them to warn them but it was not enough to prevent the accident. the collision sent debris into the river and on to the streets

of new jersey. >> i thought my god. my husband pushed me because stuff was flying. >> reporter: teams located the wreckage and recovered three bodies. the water and fast current made for difficult searching t was a different scene compared to the one in january when a jet safely landed in the river. that landing was dubbed the miracle on the hudson. but there will be no miracle on this summer afternoon. in new york. >> tonight the ntsb is investigating the accident the search has been called off tonight. it will resume in the morning. another plane crash to report this one in carroll county killing two marylanders. mike hellgren is live at the medical examiner's office that's where the bodies were taken. that's all part of the investigation and the two people who tide in the crash were from anne arundel county.

>> and piloting the beloved plane a golden circle t bird when taking off it crashed into a field near the air park killing him and his passenger who was from edgewater, i lost my brother and a good friend. >> his brother spoke first about the deaths. >> it was a shock when the police called today. >> he said he was an experienced pilot, a retired naval aviator who owned the plane for several years. >> he loved the plane, he loved to fly in it, he loved to take people up for rides in it. >> he was familiar with the area, flying there three times a week. >> it looks to me that they would have died instantly which i hope is the case. >> no explosion no scattering of everything, it just went into the ground. it was one of those instances where nothing could be done. >> investigators, including those from the faa and maryland state police, combed the scene.

>> it's not for us to speculate on what may have caused this at this time. that's for the experts. >> the park is used by many flying the planes. >> we're able to see that. it was someone's plane down and you found out they did not make it. it is devastating because the people that you know. >> just surprises and disappoints me, saddens moo he to no end. they hope that the authorities will find out what happened giving them closure after such a painful loss. >> and they were great people and i hope that they're in a better place now. >> and he is survived by his children. investigators gave no time table on when it will be complete. mike hellgren downtown. the pilot was 61 years old retired from the military in the 1990s. a disruption in baltimore as firefighters are called to the scene of a bank fire.

and a louisiana school is testing an idea that will make a lot of students happy. the north side school will assign less homework and more family time. the school will have students complete their studying during regular class hours. add they hope they will spend more time with parents but they say that maybe they will spend more time with their play station.
