michael phelps wearing a ravens jersey inside an ambulance. it happened around 9:00 last night. police say the city's top cop got involved because of the publicity. >> we knew it's michael phelps and the media would be interest and we had our best people on it. >> reporter: they say alcohol played no roll in the crash but told wjz they did investigate it. >> it's star when you get into an accident. just like if i got into an accident, they would make sure i'm not drinking. >> reporter: the side air bags went off in the honda. the woman driving was taken to the hospital as a precaution. police say michael phelps were not injure and neither were the two people inside his suv.

the circuit court to the detention center. from the backseat of the car, he slip his handcuffs over the sheriff's head and tried to a grab the gun and when he couldn't, he escape and ran into a wooded area. they believe he ran towards his house which is not far from the detention center. >> the gentleman lives within a mile and a half within the howard county detention center, we believe he fled in that direction. reresponseed and police were in the area. >> the deputy lost conscienceness in the struggle for his gun and was taken to the hospital. a jury convicted him of burglary yesterday. michael phelps returning to -- michael vick sign a deal with the philadelphia eagles, just a short time ago, he spoke

two air traffic controllers on duty during the cash over the hudson river is on leave. >> reporter: two on duty are suspended. one was on the phone with his girlfriend, the other, a supervisor, wasn't even in the building. >> unbelievable. >> reporter: the faa says it probably didn't contribute to the collision over the hudson river, but it's unacceptable. the plane took off from new jersey's airport with the controllers in charge. minutes later, they handed off to a control tower further down the river. >> when you talk about places like the hudson, these are air zones carved out for pilots to fly in with very little in terms of regulation and safety

temperatures climbing nicely, the sun peeking through the clouds and the clouds have been just kind of dotting the skies, the northeasterly wind bringing in some moisture off of the bay and the ocean. still dealing with effects down to the south and the east. it's keeping ocean city in the zone of thunderstorms and seen showers breaking out through the day. we see some sun peeking out. that front is eventually going to break up and move away. high pressure is starting to do its job around most of the region bringing us dryer conditions, dryer by way of rain, not humidity. the levels are still pretty high. it's in line for the warm air to come in from the south and the southwest. the front goes further away and with that goes the chance of our showers. it starts to look nice as it
