while others are soaking wet. hot and steamy days setting the stage for powerful storms. bob is tracking the storms, we begin live in queen ann county where the heat is being blamed for sickening students and coaches. >> good evening, that's what officials believed happened that it is heat exhaustion, but not ruling anything out. it's very odd that 14 players and 6 coaches became sick at the same time. >> reporter: varsity football players are indoors recovering. >> i saw about 12 guys line up against the shed 14 players and

three coaches transported where they were heat for heat exhaustion. >> they were on their needs need -- knees throwing up and then all of the ambulances came. >> school officials say a higher than normal heat index may be to blame. at this point, they are not ruling anything out. >> they're looking into other factors that could have been involved. it was unusual that 14 kids were taken to the hospital. we're looking at other factors. there were also coaches that went. >> deputies looking at what they ate and drank. concerns for insecticides on the field is ruled out. >> this is none and never put anything on there as well as the lines they painted were done with a water-based paint

it. it's beginning to weaken. we have another batch to the west, that is probably going to get us around 8:00 tonight. some of the storms produce heavy rain and maybe some brief gusty winds. >> thank you. two teenagers charged in what is called a hate crime will spend the next month in jail. >> reporter: the teens charged with attempted murder. a judge ordered the two held without bail. the teens were with calvin when he beat a man early tuesday. the 76-year-old was fishing at the park. he's a white supremacist. after the beating, the summit stole his suv to get away. they were with him but did not participate in the beatings according to them. >> a preliminary hearing

save $4500. the "cash for clunkers" program is running out of money and will end on monday morning. sales up 20 0%. over the next two days, he has 75 appointments. his problem now, he's out of stock. >> we hit gold with the program. >> the dealership collected 150 clunkers good for business but also good for the environment, the old gas guzzlers is off of the road for good. on the downside, he's waiting for nearly $700,000 from the government to reimburse the discounts he gives to clients. as a regular trade-in, his

state. seeing one popup shower across the western portion of the city. you can see it here and one just not too far from the airport at the watch, severe thunderstorm watch canceled from the bay, west. i think they dropped it and institute some watches tonight. keep watching the radar. very humid and we had the thunderstorms. looking at temperatures where it's raining, temperatures in the 70s , it's still in the mid to upper 80s and it was a hot afternoon around 90 most places, 70s , no rain in d.c. east winds, we had a southerly flow. you can see it, the front and out to the west, the front will not move through until tonight or tomorrow and we'll have enough force in the atmosphere to create showers and storms and this batch comes through tonight and into the afternoon

before it clears out. the good news, by sunday, less humid air, looks like a great start the next week with lower temperatures and much less humidity and comfortable air. it's going to do a nice number on bill keeping bill away from the east coast. it's down to a category two. it's weaken off of the coast and heads to the northeast, it's speeded up to 20 miles per hour. it's going brush bermuda. south winds in the bay, 10-15 knots until 10:00 tonight. some more thunderstorms around 72, tomorrow, another warm but not as hot as today but humid. maybe some thunderstorms and could be some brief heavy rains. could be some flooding possible. 84 degrees tomorrow. >> okay.
