we are live tonight. >> reporter: when it comes to this linebacker police say this was the case of unnecessary roughness. ravens rookie linebacker tiny fine is in central booking arrested for assault on an officer police say. it happened inside the inner harbor near johnny rockets. security guards who were on high alert after a double shooting last week called on baltimore police to help them investigate what they thought was four men passing a gun. >> they asked the subjects to stand up. one of them resisted police. the sergeant then approached asked them again. he resisted pushed the officer in the chest. the officer fell. >> reporter: the 6'2'' inch linebacker was arrested by others. police say the item wasn't a gun but a cell phone. fein an iraq war veteran now

september. three men all face first degree murder charges in the shooting. harris was shot and killed trying to flee a robbery. jury selection starts in the morning. tonight a baltimore girl recovering after being attacked in a multiple stabbing. a 13-year-old was one of three victims stabbed on federal street. a 49-year-old and a man were also stabbed. they are all expected to be okay. police haven't said what led up to the attack. blood shed at a birthday. the gun shots rang out at 1:00 this morning. howard county police say a 20- year-old devon clay was assaulted then shot twice as he tried to run away. he has been treated released. another major developing story. a big water main break downtown baltimore has crews rushing to make repairs before the morning

rush hour. >> reporter: a 40-inch water main cracked prompting emergency repairs near mlk. >> we are expecting it to be closed for a few days because of the damage to the roadway. >> reporter: it's believed the underground break caused erosion and the buckling of pavement. >> couldn't shower and couldn't brush our teeth but had to use bottled water. >> once we get the 40 shut down we will be able to make sure everybody is back in service and the pressure should come back up. >> reporter: its been a problem with several major breaks. they requested $700 million in stimulus money but the city only got a trickle. >> we got 12 million which we are glad for but it's a lot of

money that has to go into this. >> reporter: right now we know that downtown workers that use the pearl street garage will have limited access. we are always on for additional video and the latest on street closures before you head into downtown tomorrow log onto the website. the effects of hurricane bill stirred major wave this weekend and they killed a little girl in maine. the coast guard said that a giant wave swept a 7-year-old off a ledge. this is at a national park. i man and another girl were pulled out and saved but the waves more than 12 feet high and the girl died. for the latest on the weather let's check in. >> it's still a hurricane. it's racing off to the northeast right now. hurricane bill now -- you can see this is what we have going

on. isolated showers and thunderstorms. stalled out front, that is going to start moving because bill is moving but here is the latest on bill. let's get to the computer graphics. racing off to the northeast at a quick speed. over 30 miles an hour. you can see a lot of the bright oranges and reds starting to die down. it's losing some strength. still strong and still a hurricane. winds of 75 miles an hour. gusts 92 miles an hour moving off to the east-northeast at 40 miles an hour. 74 and above makes it a hurricane so right on that border. probably a tropical storm overnight. >> thank you. after weeks of repair work following a devastating fire bethel ame church is set to reopen. tonight we report that church leaders are taking something positive away from the unfortunate situation. >> reporter: the door is still boarded up but the city's oldest african american church but not for long. >> they are putting in the new

doors, most of the work on the outside is done. >> reporter: lightning struck the church steeple, fire spread through the bell tower. >> the rain and the storm caused it to catch on fire but the damage is really all in one side. >> reporter: temporary services held at pier six and then here since july. services resume at the church on monday following two months of repairs. >> we are grateful to the temple family and they have treated us like family. we don't feel like guests and we are going back home, praise the lord. >> i'm very excited to head back to the churcht. felt likely missed home and then up here -- it's like it took away from me being where i knew where i love to worship. >> reporter: it'll take some time to get things back to normal but leaders are optimistic. >> we can get caught up in the

. more breaking news. the former reality star accused of killing his ex-wife has been found dead. kanaka authorities say the body of ryan jenkins was found at a hotel room tonight. the reports indicate that jenkins may have taken his own life. the body of his ex-wife was found mutilated earlier this month. it's believed jenkins fled to canada after murdering her. the fall out continues over the early release of the pan am

bomber. he was the only one convicted in the bomb that killed 270 people. on thursday he was allowed an early release because he is fighting terminal cancer. now leaders in the united states are questioning the scottish government. >> i would like to know if there was a deal, there was a story it was done by the british government in return for an oil contract. that would be despicable. these families didn't get over their wounds for eight years and never well will. >> the senator also spoke out against the widespread celebrations of the release and wants an apology from the leader of lybia. a sun country airline jet sat on the runway for six hours before taking off. it was scheduled to leave from new york on friday morning but instead 100 passengers didn't

get off the ground until late in the evening and finally landed hours late. passengers say the delay was extremely uncomfortable. >> frustration level was kicking in, a lot of young kids, a lot of older people on the plane that were getting upset. >> the airline apologized for the delay and said they will give passenger aiz refund. it's led to renewed call business lawmakers to pass airline passenger bill of rights. police in indiana say a shooting there shows that guns and alcohol don't mix. following a night of drinking two purdue students tried to pull a prank on a friend, pulling guns on him when he walkedn. one of the guns went off and killed him. >> it's not an accidental shooting, not on -- it started out as a joke and unfortunately a weapon was loaded.

>> police say the pair admits to drinking before the accident. one faces of charges of reckless homicide and the other of pointing a loaded firearm. the other faces a charge of pointing an unloaded weapon. united states colleges may not have to cancel class fz there is an outbreak of the swine flu. instead health officials urge students and staff to isolate themselves at home or if their dorm room if they develop flu like symptoms in order to avoid spreading the flu. also in health watch research shows that all fish caught in the united states contain mercury. the study found mercury in all fish that were pulled from nearly 300 streams across the country. more than a quarter of them contained mercury levels that were not safe to eat. a seafood industry expert said the news applies to fish caught

during recreation and not fish in stores and restaurants. rain r the department of agriculture seeing another surge in the mosquito population. tim williams reports simple things you can do to fight those bugs. >> reporter: the first sign in maryland is usually followed by the question is the threat of west nile virus far behind? >> significant percent of mosquito do carry west nile virus. it's quite possible we will have a few case that come to the public's attention. >> reporter: the geud news though swarm numbers are high no human cases have been reported this year. the attention of the department of agriculture is on controlling the issue before it is hatched alerting the public is one way to take a bite out of the problem. >> hurricane rains, you get lots of mosquito. >> reporter: a bug expert. >> the water flooding areas

that wrrnt flooded before are were flooded early and had been dried and the eggs dried on dry ground hatch. >> reporter: experts say empty containers around the home that can be breeding grounds. one clogged gutter can infest a neighborhood, standing water in a fountain or bird bath can breed two million. mosquito control has been around since the 30 30s they are pushed to the limit. >> we will deal with the problem we have and we will deal with the budget later. >> reporter: with hopes the waters go away taking the mosquito with them. tim williams. >> the mosquito season ends in october. thank god. i have been burning so many tiki torches i have a huge bill

for the oil. they have been so bad. >> it has been bad. the good news on the weather front things are calming down a bit. >> yeah. >> starting to calm down after very muggy intense weather over the last few days. we did get to 87 degrees. 84 is the average. on the way back down right now and the other thing that happened today is that the dew points starting to drop. they were in the low 70's yesterday. today they have dropped to the mid60's and tomorrow will continue to drop. they sort of level out overnight with the sun going down. temperature wise across the area still warm. 73 baltimore, 790 seven city but down to 58 oakland. that's a sign of how we are drying out. cool night overnight. the winds out of the northwest bringing in the dryer air and through the day tomorrow. even with the dryer air coming in we still have isolated thunderstorms out there very few up through the evening.

one right now over toward delaware. that will die down overnight. the front is still in the area. that's what caused a uple storms. it'll start to move tomorrow because hurricane bill is finally getting out of here. here is the latest picture. just racing off to the northeast loose intense ty. it's -- it's extra tropical. obviously still a strong storm and still a hurricane. wind 75 miles an hour. overnight it'll probably go to tropical storm status. once it goes below 74 that will happen. it's just racing out of herew. it moving it's allowing the weather pattern to start moving again. tomorrow very isolated chance for a shower or storm.

bay forecast out of the northwest bringing in the dryer air. sunrise tomorrow 6:28 a.m. tonight down to 64 degrees. anything that's out there will die down overnight. tomorrow we go up to 85. less muggy than it has been and the dryer air will stick around but we will see a warm up. 91 on wednesday here but not quite the same humidity we have had lately. then another front thursday into friday but a dry one, maybe
