discussion about over time rules. >> referee: 30 second time out. look at the top of the screen. you can see bill belichick, nice shot. he reaches over, definitely calls the time out before the football is snapped. >> jim: walt coleman involved in a few no fumble situations with the patriots. you go back to the old game. that was the right call. gostkowski will come out and hit one from 31. crowd doesn't like the fact that there was no fumble called. clearly time out was -- time of the kick is good.

tracking the tropics. dangerous surf along maryland's coast as tropical storm danny churns through the atlantic. tonight, where the storm is headed, how it will affect maryland. hello, i'm vic carter. denise is off tonight. here's what people are talking about tonight. tropical storm danny slowly but steadily moves closer to the east coast. we've been tracking the storm all week watching to see if it could affect maryland's coast. if you take a look at this video you can see it is already kicking up the surf along ocean

city. it will only get worse over the next 48 hours. the weather is coming to us from all directions. the storm slammed into baltimore. it's believed lightning sparked a fir at this baltimore church last night. no one was hurt. a lot of people spent the day cleaning up fallen trees. tim. >> good evening, vic. a lot to talk about. as vic mentioned, we have several different components. first warning radar will show you the storm, but danny still a very disorganized storm with most of the storms to the east of the center of circulation, which is a very hard center to pick out but that east -- well, that location means that as this storm continues to move on past us most of the storms will be off to the east, away from the coastline of the u.s. danny as of the 11:00 update from the national hurricane center is sustained winds of 40 miles per hour with gusts of 4 2, movement to the north-northeast

at 12. as it moves on past the maryland coastline, it remains a tropical storm, a minimal tropical storm, then it starts to move on out. it will be doing that tomorrow between about 8:00 a.m. on saturday and roughly 8:00 p.m. it's going to cover a lot of real estate and move on out. want to show you first warning live doppler and give you an idea what is going on with our storms. a lot of storms moving through. storms picked up and stayed over parts of the area, the eastern shore seeing upwards of two inches of rain. carroll county a main spot with a flash flood warning in effect until 12:30. lime boro road, this is new, up near the pa line, there's a water rescue currently going on. several people trapped in a car up there because of heavy rains that fell about two hours ago. the national weather service motto, turn around, don't

drown. takes 12 inches of rain to move a car. if you try to drive through that you could endanger yourself. we'll keep you posted on these storms. >> as you just heard, the storm is kick up the surf at ocean city. this can make for some dangerous situations for beachgoers on what's expected to be a busy weekend. coverage continues with jessica kartalija in ocean city. >> reporter: for the most part it was a beautiful beach day here in ocean city. that was until the rain started to come in and the clouds began to roll in. the surfers didn't seem to mind too much but those waves are raising eyebrows tonight. concerns over tropical storm danny may be few in ocean city but the focus now is on larger than normal waves. >> it will knock even the strongest person down it to the sand. >> reporter: clouds roll in but local surfers don't seem to mind. >> i think danny is probably

what's general it rating all the wind. we'll have a good time out there. >> reporter: danny may be hundreds of miles off the east coast but the storm is causing waves to rise seven to ten feet in ocean city. it's really rough. when you go out there what's it like? >> you get pulled under a lot. they're a little stronger than what it's been the last four years i've been out here on vacation from kansas city. >> reporter: the city's mayor says he's in constant contact with emergency officials should danny change course. >> it is hurricane season. it is the time of the year where we have to follow every storm, every weather event that comes up the coast. we don't take anything for granted. >> reporter: in the meantime city officials urge visitors planning to head to the beach to stick with their plan. >> we certainly look at all the factors, whether it be beach erosion, and we have to take public safety, that's key and the number one sporngts but ocean city is certainly open

for business and i expect it will be so this weekend. >> reporter: remember, if you are going to spend time in the water while you're here in ocean city make sure that you are always in the line of sight of a lifeguard. in ocean city, i'm jessica kartalija, wjz, eyewitness news. >> we invite you to stay with eyewitness news for complete coverage of tropical storm danny. log on to wjz.com. developing story out of new york where the highly acclaimed disc jockey dj am was found dead. police say they broke down the door to adam goldstein's apartment and found his body. unnamed fire officials say drug paraphernalia was also found in the apartment. he was critically injured a year ago when his plane crashed in south carolina. the cause of his death has not been determined. a disturbing case of animal abuse as more than 20 puppies are found living in total filth. the dogs were found in a home in anne arundel county, and tonight the owner is facing

charges. eyewitness news is live. kelly mcpherson explains it was so bad the scene was considered a hazmat situation. kelly. >> reporter: vic, a woman was so fed up with the smell coming out of her neighbor's house that she finally called the county executive's office. when officials showed up they found 21 dogs neglected and living in their own filth. to get picture evidence of the inhumane conditions inside this home, an investigator suited up in hazmat gear. the anne arundel county fire department says a man in his 40s lived here, along with 21 abused dogs, who have been rescued now by animal control. >> honestly, when i saw those dogs coming out, i was crying. only two of them had hair because they were all mangy and flee-bitten. >> there were mattresses that had feces on them, and there were feces piled up inside of the trailer where the dogs were living. certainly in the trailer the

windows were covered up in plastic, so on a hot day, just makes you wonder what kind of kay they were having. >> reporter: and the stench. >> feces, like the stuff all mixed into one bad smell. >> reporter: you can smell from the several homes away. neighbors tell us their association has complained about this property for years. they're glad something is getting done. the county is now investigating charges against the man, most likely animal abuse. county officials say with no dog mess in the yard, the neglected dogs of all ages likely never left the house. >> they were probably never outside. you could tell by the way they were coming out that they were very uncomfortable. >> reporter: what would you like to see happen. >> prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. >> reporter: what would that include? >> i don't know, talk to the officer of the law. but clearly it's a hazard to his adjacent neighbors. >> reporter: as of tonight it

r's. >> reporter: the mta launched this program after some voiced complaints about taking public transportation. it's a loud message for students who take the bus. >> remember the three r's. >> ride, respect, and right. >> reporter: along with airing several commercials, the mta slapped the slogan on several buses. so far 3,000 students have signed this pledge to ride, relax, and respect. in one of the most infamous cases involving an mta bus a judge found a group of teenagers responsible for brutally beating a passenger while on board. the mta is confident its new program can help prevent similar incidents from happening. >> i think it's just a small
