>> a police officer recovering from gun shot wounds following a shoutout with at least two suspects. the officer is now being treated at sinai hospital. >> reporter: he was brought here to sinai because it's the closest to his home. he will still need more surgery for a wound in his leg but thankfully he's listed as satisfactory. last night, a heavy response flooded the area with police after the off-duty officer who has not been identified was shot while walking into his home. >> we know he was attempting to get into his home when he was approached by two suspects who were trying to rob him, gunfire was exchanged and he was struck in the stomach. >> reporter: missay they have

jason simons was on his way to work when he lost control of his truck. he flipped over killing him. the 32-year-old has been on the force for 7 years. with her family at her side, a 13-year-old girl on life support battling the h1n1 virus. good afternoon, ron. >> reporter: the teen is a student at the middle school in northeast baltimore. she collapse at school on monday and went into cardiac arrest. some parents are upset the school waited four days to send a letter tome to inform them of the situation. school officials remind everyone to wash their hands often and get the vaccine when it becomes available. >> we have information about that. millions will be able to get their child vaccinated sooner

more than one hundred firefighters battling a fire at an oil refinery in southern california. you can see the flames are fierce and look at the smoke coming up. the fire is con confined to one location. one of charles manson's well known followers is dead. susan died after her battle with brain cancer.
