. hello, again i am don scott i am mary bubala. we begin with breaking news in baltimore county where police are on the scene of what ato be a fatal accident. skyeye chopper 13 overthe scene. captain mike perry. >> reporter: yes, good afternoon, don and everyone. late morning accident on the spur the ramp to go on the outer loop of 695 from southbound harrisburg expressway occurred after 10 this morning as vehicle being drip along the spur departed the roadway and the state troopers are walking into the wooded area.

the vehicle plowed through several trees about another 50 yards into the wood line. apparently killing the driver instantly. state police are on the scene and remain on the scene and have been here since 10 this morning. the traffic situation here is pretty bad. we do have a significant backup of a mile and a half all the way back to pedonia road. only one lane is getting by. so spect delays in the area as state police continue their investigation. it's going to be sometime before they get this accident scene cleared u back to you. >> thanks very much. we will stick with the transportation theme. physical of dozens of speed cameras coming to baltimore city will be up and running which means drivers need to slow down in school and construction zones. wjz and pat warren is live where the camera is ready for the closeup we are told. good afternoon, pat. >> reporter: good afternoon don and everybody. as you know, the general assembly passed the law this year allowing local jurisdictionses to put speed

cameras within a half mile of school zones and the state can install them at highway construction sites. first of 51 speed cameras planned for the city of baltimore was unveiled today. the location shows in glenmount elementary is a neighborhood where residents have complained about speeding for years. >> now the media acts as if it's another way to generate money for the city. that's not the purpose of the program. it's about safety for everyone in our community. it's not about generating revenue. it's a result of red light cameras. the revenue will increase because people paid out of their pockets with tickets from speeding through red lights. this effort is to also assist and enhance us so the little babies are able to cross the street safely without having to deal with pedestrian, speeding

and driving fast. >> reporter: now the cameras will be activated on october 1st that's when they become legal in the state of maryland. you will get a warning for the first 30 days and after the 30 day warning period, the fines will be 40 dollars. reporting live from northeast baltimore i am pat warren now back to you on television hill. >> thanks very much. we will continue to follow the story and have much more for you today at 4, 5 and 6. >> as police search for answers into what led a man to murder his family survivors are planning the funeral. the apparent murder suicide happened overnight thursday in mountary. they will happenedel the service for the family. family and friends are grieving together for the daultons. police say charles dalton shot his wife jennifer and their two children as they sliest 14-year-old charles and 7-year-old girl. he turned the shotgun on himself wea.s home improvement weaning school janitor. they are searching for motive but he was struggling to

survive. school is closed for a holiday but grief counselors will be at the children's schools tomorrow. >> a man accused of two years of plowing a vowellen -- stolen vehicle into a home killing a sleeping woman inside will spend 20 years in prison. sent enters. enceing wrapped up a while ago. family members of mary sullivan, the woman killed, gave impact statements to the judge beforehand. in august of 2008 miller stole a pickup from a home in sparks blacked out behind the wheel and slammed into sullivan's home and she died instantly. maryland drivers should be doing a little less multitags being while mind the wheel. state ban takes effect october 1st. violators face a 500 dollar fine. texting is a dangerous distraction and especially younger ones. critics it ate could be difficult to enforce because while sending in or punching in a text reading one is not. iran wants the world to know it has a missile that can reach israel and u.s. military bases.

after two days of war games the iranian government tested the missile this morning. joel brown reports for wjz it comes as the u.s. looks to ratchet up pressure on iran. >> reporter: iran test fired a missile this morning that could reach israel, europe and u.s. bases in the middle east. the country wrapped up two days of war games by test firing the longest range missile. it can travel up to 1200 miles. that launch came on the heels of other tests iran's revolutionary guard fired hundreds of shorter range missiles a government spokesman insist the tests are not saber rattling. it has nothing to do with the peaceful nuclear technology of iran he told reporters. the test comes as the obama administration is drawing up sanctions that it will use against iran if that country doesn't come clean about its nuclear programs. on friday, the administration

revealed it knew about a secret iranian nuclear site and warned iran to open it up to international inspectors. over the weekend, iran gave in saying it will give the united nations access to the facility. the secret side in the missile test is sure to dominate talks beginning thursday. iranian official also sit down with the u.s., china europe and russia. >> they have to come to the meeting on october 1st and present convincing evidence as to the purpose of their nuclear programs. >> reporter: the immediate meeting will be the first direct talks between america and iran in three decades. joel brown, cbs news, washington. and the new long range missile are capable of careying warheads. it's a pleasant monday. last monday in september by the way. let's look live outside right now. you can see blue skies from horizon to horizon and you can see where the ravens had the big victory yesterday. we are live with first warning weather complete coverage and

bernette woods is over at weather center and tim william in the outback but tim, i think we will start with bernette. >> all right. first warning doppler radar to show you what we have going on. white sun is shining it's not for everyone. see the line of thunderstorms and showers coming in from the west and there has been a few rumbles of thunder with the line. that's going to make its way across the state as we head through the afternoon and evening hours. there can be strong thunderstorms with this as we have warmth out -- warmth out there and sun fueling atmosphere and it will take its time but could make it -- it could make its mark as it makes its way through baltimore. hard to get that out. but the other thing going on with the line of thunderstorms is the wind and for more on that here is tim. >> well, as she mentioned, the line is coming down and while the temperatures are comfort right now. the wind is not too much a factor. pretty nice and pleasant. 13-mile-per-hour winds now. southerly component is bringing in some warmer air. 13-mile-per-hour winds around bwi marshal.

15 towards easton and 10 in washington county. but as a result of that front, we have a wind advisory in effect for our far western counties. gart county seeing this advisory through the day and it could get blustery this afternoon. winds could gust up to 30 miles per hour. we will keep you posted on the progress of this front and, of course, bernette will have more coming up in the complete updated first warning forecast night monday. it's okay. gone governor o'malley is protected from the flu e got the seasonal flu shot and is hoping to encourage all marylanders to do the same. the seasonal flu vaccine doesn't completely protect individuals from the h1n1 strain of the flu. but it will help. a vaccine for h1n1 should be available next week. the fight against prostate cancer gaining strength with help from wjz and community commitment. hundreds came out over the weekend to participate in the great prostate cancer challenge. the third annual 5k run and 1

mile fun walk took place in towson and they got free screenings at the event. the ravens cruise to 3-0 record delivering a beatdown to the browns yesterday. and mike schuh joins us from wjz.com with reaction from the football faithful in the wjz fan cam. good afternoon. >> reporter: that's a good way to put it. about a a beat-down. offense and defense is click on all cylinders. ravens harassed the browns quarterback all day long making four interceptions. offense exploded for 34 points including a long touchdown pass to wide receiver derek mason. rain fans are stoked as they tell wjztv fan cam. >> he's young quarterback and has ways to go but i think he can do it with the team work if they keep the team work going and click like they have been doing and the rest keep it going, the team work they can go all the way. >> last time my husband predicted that they won the superbowl. >> i did in and we are going

flood watters are receding in the philippines after deadly tropical storm barreled through as many as 140 people are dead or missing. today, filipinos are cleaning up as army troops deliver supplies. this was the worst storm in the philippine capital in 42 years. storm dumped more than month's worth of rain in 12 hours

setting off landslides and destroying neighborhoods. a lawyer for oscar winning director roman polanski says he will fight extradition to the united states in the sex case. after years on the run, polanski was arrested over the week end in switzerland. he was there to receive a lifetime achievement award at a film festival. the 76-year-old is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl back in 1977 in the u.s. he is currently appealing his case claiming misconduct by the judge. >> if you like listening to your favorite tunes on digital music players you might want to turn the volume down while you still can. they say set volume standards for all portable music players part of a plan to prevent hearing loss later in life. advocates say manufacturers issued clearer health warnings and players may come with new default settings that would limit the volume automatically . i can remember i hear the voice mp three players in the back while in the front.

and even thunderstorms make their way through the state right now. just off to the west of haggertown so in the next 15 to 30 minutes that's going to be moving in through your western side through the downtown areas. let's show you what we have been dealing with today for a lot of us, sunshine to start out the day. but the clouds started to increase and here comes the line of showers and storms out from the west and it will be make its way across the state as we head through the afternoon and evening showers. the other thing happening with it, there's real warmth ahead of this. in the 70s behind the front, 63 in cumberland. and it's 58 in oakland. and the other thing on top of all of that is the wind. they are starting to gust out of south and they will turn around to the northwest as the front passes but it's becoming so gusty with the front itself there's a wind advisory in effect for western parts of the state and this is the wind gusts 40 miles per hour when the front comes out and awind advisory is in effect until midnight. for the the rest of us the wind will pick up with the front coming through. here's the situation, here's the

front off to the west. and being see when we put night motion making its way towards the east, making its way through maryland it's going to take through the evening for that to happen, but behind it, it does start to clear out. and as it does, it's going to pull in much cooler air. temperatures today, getting into the upper 70s by tomorrow, only in the 60s. so here's front make its way with the gusty wind and showers and strong thunderstorms. but then tomorrow breezy, cooler and starting to clear out. the forecast when it comes together looks like this for today. topping out close to 80 degrees. then the line of showers and thunderstorms comes through. we will cool it down tonight to 52. and gusty wind at times tonight, too. then tomorrow, still breezy only topping out at 68. sunshine to start off the day and clouds building up in the afternoon. but we are going to stay drier and cooler as we head through most of the week and we will have that five-day in a bit. >> all right, thanks. and still to come on "eyewitness news" at noon a. dozing danger. what parents what parents need to look out for.
