doctors say that one group of individuals, well, they are admission rates are up by 25%. generally people out in this have to be. the trash man. construction worker, people who are paid to be outside no matter the weather. but still, it may be unpleasant when the city workers get this hole excay vatted at -- excavated at the water main break there will be water and ice below but emergency room doctors say very fuel few of these people end up here. the cold causes emergency rooms to fill up with homeless mentally ill and alcoholics. >> generally we find a lot of patients coming in that are really cold, and they can have cardiac issues. that's the biggest issue that can cause that gives serious concern. and so, recommendations would be to just stay warm you know if you have to go out, bundle up. >> reporter: that doctor says the only time he sees average

are on high aremember the. frow new screening features for those flying into the united states. derek valcourt is live with the latest. >> reporter: travelers who want to get into the u.s. will be subject to mandatory full body patdowns carry on searches and body scans. people flying from nations considered to be sponsors of tearlism see the biggest changes. the new guidelines come more than a week after a man allegedly trying to blow up a u.s. airline on christmas day and another security breach grounded flights at new jersey's newark airport for six hours. thousands of passengers had to be rescreened after a man slipped past security by enterreg through an exit lane. the tsa says security video revealed he left through another exit about 20 minutes later. don. >> thank you very much. tsa studies video of the breach to figure out the man's eye didn'tity and what he was trying to do. we are -- identity and what he was trying to do. police are investigating ball mere city first homicide

of 2010. an unidentified man was found shot to death in the 2300 block of ocala avenue near drewit hill park. witness reported seeing two men run from the scene. but so far police have not named any suspects nor a motive. a johns hopkins university graduate dies after the car plunges into a frozen creek near washington, d.c. a jogger called police after spotting a tire sticking out of rock creek. police say 22-year-old joshua coleman was trapped inside the car. he graduated from johns hopkins last year and investigators are now trying to piece together what happened. >> anything that we find on the scene as far as skid marks or broken tees and that type of thing is going to be part of the investigation. right now we have not determined where the vehicle came. >> it took several hours and three different tow trucks to pull the badly damaged car out of the ice. maryland transit authority police are seek witnesses to the death of a pedestrian who was found dead along the northbound lanes of the harbor tunnel

throughway. police have identified him as 23-year-old christian of baltimore city. they ask anyone with information on the death to give them a call. as maryland's unemployment rate climbs, state leaders are set to begin debating salary increases. governor o'malley and general assembly will discuss whether to give themselves pay raises when the legislative session opens next week. one option being considered is a pay increase for nearly 200 state employees. governor o'malley insisted he wouldn't accept any extra pay and he says he hopes other state officials do the same. >> and it's a day of rev up for ravens fans. why'd victory over the raiders puts them in the playoffs. wjz has complete coverage of the win and we begin with sports director mark viviano reporting from oakland, california. >> and first half. >> reporter: the ravens appear to be cruising through first half. willis pushes oakland safety and he goes 77 yards for a second

five young men from the dc area are suspected planning to carry out terrorist attacks. group appeared in court in pakistan today. the defense lawyer says the court granted police two weeks to prepare terrorism charges. the men say they intend to travel to afghanistan to help their fellow muslims but denied involvement in a terrorist plot. . police in arizona say a teen accidently accidently ran over and killed her brother with the car. the two were joke around in a mall park lot and he was jumping in front of the car while she slammed on the brakes narrowly missing him until one time she couldn't stop and she ran the 17-year-old over. two fans were hrt following yesterday's st. louis rams game when they fell out of the stands. the men were reaching for a shoe thrown by one of the players. when they fell crashing through an awning and falling about 12 feet to the concrete below. one was taken away on a
