about today. plenty of anger and frustration now along the gulf coast because residents are getting a live look of exactly what's coming out of that underground gusher. here is jay with the very latest from venice, louisiana. >> reporter: this thick oil is now washing ashore in populated areas and anger is growing that bp and the government aren't doing enough. >> we want them to get off their butts, excuse my french, i'm telling you that you've got to give us a permit. >> reporter: people on grand island want the government to build sand barriers to hold off the oil from the fragile wetland. >> that is not out to sea, that's here. >> reporter: adding insult to injury, bp now admits there is much more oil leaking than previously estimate after they finally provided a live feed of the gusher and only did so after pressure from lawmakers. >> bp has lost all credibility. >> i understand the frustration. i know people want more information. i know theft -- actually, they want this thing to come to an

end. >> about 45,000 square miles of gulf waters are closed off right now to commercial fishermen. but oyster men were given a small window to work. jeff galley is racing the clock to pull in as much as he can. >> any day we could be shut down. so every oyster counts right now. >> fishermen are also concerned about the chemical disperse ants bp has been using. under orders the company switched to less toxic chemicals. but with tens of thousands of gallons being used no one knows for sure what the long-time impact will be on the wildlife. >> wildlife groups have already recovered 186 he sea turtling and more than 60 birds that they believe have been affected by the spill. the senate passed a sweeping bill aimed at

preventing another meltdown. it sets standards on borrowers and lenders. it will add regulations on the derivatives aimed at companies too big to fail. the bill must be merge we had a house version of the bill. the dow is now up nearly 100 points at 10167. the s & p has gained almost 15 points. and the nasdaq is up more than 30 points. >> one of the candidates for harper county executive is dead after his suv hit a utility pole. the police say 50-year-old stephen wright from churchville crashed on wheel road in bell air last night. the investigation finds speed was not a factor in the crash but wright was not wearing his seat-belt. he served on the republican committee for the last five years. he is survived by a wife and three daughters. developments in the case of a toddler who transmit add sexually transmitted disease.

ron is live in the newsroom. good afternoon, ron. >> city detectives are still investigating a person of interest who contracted gonorea. they are talking about how he got the std. the girl's mother said she left the girl alone with her four children more than three weeks ago. the mother wants the police to make an arrest. the officers say this type of investigation takes time and they are not ready to make any arrests at this time. >> don, back to you. >> thank you very much, ron. they are holding the man on a violation probation which the baltimore sun was for a manslaughter conviction in 2007. a family is asking for your help after three children were killed over the weekend in a house fire in cecil county. they are taking donations to help pay for the children. the mother is in a medically induced coma because of serious

the summer travel season, the official kickoff 70 on kent island and 750 in analolis. the radar shows the story what's moving in from the west and southwest. going to impact us a little bit. marty will talk auto little bit more on this and how it will affect your weekend ahead. here is martin bass. >> thank you, tim. here is how it goes today will be absolutely beautiful. tomorrow kind of sunny. as you take a look at this graphic, we notice high pressure off to the east has been keeping moisture and energy at bay out to our west is starting to break down and move off to the east. just imagine a traffic jam. west side of the belt way 4:00 in the afternoon stopped dead. all of a sudden the car in front of you move a couple of feet. you move a couple of feet. that's going to be happening with that low over the next 36 hours. which eventually means it will get into our area. i think we will be probably overcast by tomorrow night. there will be a chance of showers as that rain associated with the low moves through the

[ music ] . jet blue airlines is denying reports that a pilot threatened to crash a flight

taking off from logan airport in boston. boston media outlets say the pilot sent an e-mail to his girlfriend saying he would crash the plane if they did not reconcile their relationship. airport security did escort the pilot off the plane but jet blue now claims he was removed for health reasons. a fatal accident shut down a 26-mile stretch of the new jersey turnpike for nearly eight hours this morning. police say the crash involved three trucks, including a tanker carrying 8,000 gal leans of care seen. the driver of one of the trucks was killed. another was injured. crews are still working to repair the guardrail and clean up the fuel that leaked from that tanker. musician bret michaels, excuse me, is in the hospital once again. he complained of a partial numbness on his left side and was diagnosed with a small hole in his heart. doctors say this problem is unlikely to be related to the near fatal brain hemorrhage he suffered last month. but this new problem will require surgery. the atlantis astronauts are making their final space walk

go over to young tim williams meteorologist in the house. take away, pal. >> pretty nice stretch of days yesterday including today. very been calling it the unofficial first sun season day. maybe already at 84. just after 12. 56 is the dew point. relative humid ate is at 38. across the state temperatures ranging from 69 in oakland. 81 down on the shore. 82 in the nation's capitol. calm winds so if you are sitting out in the sun not getting a lot of relief from the light breeze. heating up on through the afternoon. the temperatures are pretty consistent up and down the eastern seaboard. the showers are moving in from the west. when they come in they will stir things up just a little bit and doctor our temperatures as well. we will be in the mid-60s as you already see today. when these storms come through much of the energy lifting to our north will change the dynamics and going back into
