frightening school bus accident in harford county today is under investigation. denise has more. >> the accident involves a school bus, suv and a car. sky eye chopper 13 was over the scene. you can see, the impact of the collision was violent enough to push the bus onto its side. the driver was suv was taken to shock trauma. six students on the bus and the bus driver have minor injuries. the driver of the third vehicle was also injured. mary? >> all right, denise. thank you. route 155 is now reopened. five months after her tragic death, baltimore county native, yeardley love is on the minds of thousands in virginia today. the day of dialogue features a series of discussions in a resource fair. the 22-year-old was found dead in her off-campus apartment. her ex-boyfriend, george

really cool spot. because the temperatures have spiked the last few hours. we're now tied for the record high this date. 95 degrees. the only good news is the dew point has dropped way down to only 59 degrees, which means the humidity is a lot less than it was yesterday. believe it or not, 95 with a dew point of 59, actually feels like 94. so we're doing good. that number. 37% humidity. winds south/southwest at 10. nice breeze, too. barometer holding steady. dc up to 97 degrees. i think that's a new record for them. 81 in oakland. 95 in hagerstown. 97 in pax river. 84 at ocean city. a bit of a breeze off the water. just a little bit there. but once again, the dew point has come down. it is not as terrible as it certainly could be in the middle of summer. and the dew point could be in the mid-60s. and it would feel like about

100 to 104 degrees. records are 95 and 39. and the average, the average high today is only 76. and the average low now down to 53 degrees. southwest winds. that's keeping us in the heat at least for a few more, maybe 18 to 20 hours. by noon tomorrow, the winds go back up. to the west and northwest. and a cool front will across the region. there you see it. this afternoon and morning. it had pretty good showers with it. all of the rain in minnesota. flooding up there has now pretty much gone. the front has very, very little activity with it right now. just the southwest breeze with all of the heat. the front had some good showers last night. but as it moved into the ohio valley this afternoon, it's -- i mean, barely showing up. a few isolated showers. i don't think we'll see anything east of the mountains tomorrow. we will see the winds shift. humidity will come down. it's going to get a lot cooler by sunday. once the front comes through, it's going to kind of stall out across the south.

95 degrees, with sunny skies. hello. thanks for staying with eyewitness news. i'm denise koch. he is best known for mocking politicians. today, he had to face them in congress. steven colbert was the attraction when a house subcommittee was working on a subcommittee for illegal workers on a farm. >> the hearing room was packed. it was clear something big was up. >> i haven't seen this many chairs since i don't know when, mrs. chairman. >> maybe it was impeachment. >> reporter: congresswoman loftgren asked me to share my vast experience, spending one day as a migrant farm worker. >> reporter: television comedian steve colbert spent time in front of the house panel. he had spent a day working on an upstate new york farm for his show. >> please don't make me do this

time her committee held a similar hearing, no news crew chose to cover it. it's been three weeks since an american girl was released from iran. kai has more. >> reporter: sarah shourd says she and her fellow hikers spent about 23 hours a day in solitary confinement. they were only allowed to see each other after months of begging. she was later released for health reasons. despite her ordeal, she says she can't enjoy being back home. >> no. this is not what i thought it would be. i thought this would be the end. and at this point, i don't know when the end is going to come. so now i'm in the position that the families have been in all along, with anxieties and uncertainty and really no guarantees. of course, we have hope, but we don't know when this is going to end. >> reporter: sho u -- she says they were all arrested while hiking.

macdonald. >> reporter: shortly after 9:00, news of the execution is announced. >> the execution of teresa lewis has been carried out. >> reporter: news reporters who witnessed the death tell their colleagues what they saw. >> when teresa entered the death chamber, she looked quite scared. she looked a little nervous. >> reporter: reporter katie beck remembered her final wards. >> she asked if katie was present. and the warden said yes, she is. and she said, i want kathy to know that i love you and i'm very sorry. >> reporter: the kathy she's referring to is the daughter of the victim. and the only surviving member of the family. clifton said she would be present at the execution, that it would close a painful chapter in her life. >> once the execution is followed out and she is no longer on this earth, she will have paid her debt to society. held captive for 18 years,

her abductor fathered her two children. the accused kidnapper of jaycee dugard appears in court. to the dismay of defense attorneys, a grand jury hands out an indictment against phillip and nancy garrido in the kidnapping of jait jaycee dugard. this means a preliminary hearing won't be necessary. that in turn means jaycee and her two daughters may not have to testify in open court next month. grand jury charges supersede the 29 counts of kidnapping and false imprisonment charges. attorneys say the couple is upet is -- upset that jaycee has not brought her daughters to jail to visit them. >> the city settled a lawsuit of $20 million that garrido, a sex offender, was poorly supervised. clinical trials are under way for an experimental treatment.

randall pinkston reports on the minimally invasive treatment. >> reporter: 62-year-old steven brooks has battled prostate cancer twice. the first time, he was treated with radiation. but when it reoccurred -- recurred, brooks got into a clinical trial. >> 0.1 cancer free. >> brooks lowered the psa. credits it to high food treatment. which stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. >> it's more accurate, delivering high energy to the affected area, without hurting the surrounding areas. >> it has fewer side effects. like surgery and radiation. >> what about incontinence. >> no. never had incontinence. >> reporter: the clinical trials for for patients whose prostate cancer has come back.
