travel overseas. tonight the intelligence pointing to planned terror attacks in europe. hello everybody i'm denise koch. >> and i'm vic carter. here is what people are talking about tonight. americans visiting europe are urged to be vigilant after threats of terror attacks surface. why some americans aren't changing their plans. >> reporter: most here are on alert but not alarmed. the intelligence is just so vague. still travelers are asked to take common sense precautionings. the state department issued an extraordinary alert to americans traveling in europe warning against terrorist attacks there in mayor cities where security has been tightened at tourist sights and transportation hubs. >> we believe we have credible information that justified the alert. >> reporter: sources say osama bin laden and other senior al- qaida leaders are behind the

plot. the trained operatives may have already been dispatched to carry out attacks mod modeled after the one in mumbai. >> i wouldn't say we have specific information about a particular place, a particular time, but we have sufficient information that justified the issuing of the alert. >> reporter: japan has joined the alert of warning citizens. but the number of terrorists involved and hard information about where they'll strike is unknown. >> we are in the middle sequence of this plot. but we know it's underway, we know it's been directed by al- qaida but we don't know when it may be executed and we don't know who's going to perpetrate it. >> reporter: travelers coming back from europe noticed the increased security. >> i think there's always a threat. here in the united states also. >> reporter: those leaving on the flightily night to london were not disrupting their travel plans. >> we have to go about our business don't we. if we stop because of this we

won't do anything. >> reporter: the state department recommends americans register their travel plans with the u.s. embassy. but does not warn people to cancel their trips. >> reporter: eight german nationals were killed during a drone attack in pakistan. they are believed to be islamic radicals and they could have been instrumental in putting together these attacks. european countries and the u.s. are working together sharing intelligence to combat the threat. a heart attack killed the driver of that charter bus that plunged off a ramp on i270. passengers reported seeing the 66-year-old driver slumped over the wheel before the crash. and now an autopsy has confirmed the driver did die of a heart attack. pulled from her posthours after reaching a plea deal in

court. city councilwoman holton is removed from her duties as head of the taxation and economic committee. today holton entered a plea of no contest. the plea deal is just the latest chapter of the corruption probe at city hall. alex demetrious explains what's next. >> reporter: today holton came to court to hear her plea deal. she does not dispute the facts against her but did not plead guilty. she will however have to pay a $2,500 fine. >> today ends this case. i will continue to serve on the city council and to serve my community to the best of my ability. to help make baltimore city a safer, healthier and more prosperous city. >> reporter: the case begins with holton's run for will

asking for help. students are fed up with crime at the university of maryland college park. the campus crime alert system has reported eight robberies since classes started. >> there's never been a time when students haven't gotten crime alerts. >> reporter: most recently a male student was jumped and robbed of his wallet and cell phone. >> what really shocked me, it happened right in the heart of campus. >> reporter: sunday's assault didn't happen in a back alley. it happened here right behind the library in the middle of campus and very close to student dorms. >> i would never expect somebody to be you know tackled two minutes after arriving on campus. >> reporter: robberies have happened around campus but never on campus. on this map, students are showing where they feel unsafe in college park using push pins. the student government will

the men's families decided they would have liked to be buried together. the father of a maryland marine who's funeral was disrupted by protesters will plead his case to the highest court in the land. it puts freedom of speech against a father's fight to bury his son without interruption. >> reporter: they gathered outside a church chanting and carrying signs, god hates soldiers among others. >> reporter: the maryland marine was killed fighting in iraq in 2006. >> they don't have a right to terrorize families and single families out. and that's what they do. >> reporter: members of the westboro baptist church based in kansas have protested at hundreds of military funerals

hagueer's hagerstown. today we made it to 54, that's all for a high. that's a new record on the date. it was so cool out there and nearly 20 degrees below average. now all in all this is our set up. we had the storms over our region, you see most of the heavier rain has pushed off to the north of us. the storm responsible has cut itself off from the jet stream. the jet stream really pushes the storms out of here so it's going to sit for the next day or two. while it's around it's not going to be as strong as it was. it will keep some clouds around and temperatures below average. it's not until thursdays that it finally leaves us, when it does we see sunshine return and that's when we're going to see the sun return. out in the waters, winds out of the northwest. we are cools it down to about 46 degrees. the chance for a shower or two still as we head through the
