just learning to put it all together. just physical abilities now with an offense that's making him think, he understands more. he told us, he's really first guy in, last guy out. loves it. of course, having kevin kolb as his best friend, they've got to monitor kolb because they'll never leave. it's a good combination. jim: second down and 10. attempt incomplete. weaver on the coverage. jackson the target. vick, when he came back after being in prison for 544 days, actually shifted around to eight different prisons in that time, he would watch the games on sunday. and said he saw a lot of kansas city chiefs games. but he said when he came back the only confidence he had was in his arm. that first time he dropped back the mechanics and all, his legs were slow to come back.

big difference, too, between the mike vick that came back last year and now this year. phil: the one we see. he noticed it right away, when the preseason started, he goes, i can do this now. jim: third down, running for it, going to be right on it at the 50. i believe he's got -- yes he's got the first. phil: he's got it. what a weapon. that's what it's all about. when you can run like this. this is the fastest quarterback that's ever played football in the national football league. it's all about knowing when to do it. to keep your eyes down the field. that's the one thing the colts said about michael vick. now when he runs, they notice his eyes are up, he's looking for the big pass play. jim: manning shaking his head. they -- they converted twice on third and 10.

never has, for all the different offenses he's run that had success. jim: that is ernie sims, a loss of eight. phil: it's perfect timing by the eagles' defense. ernie sims, they haven't blitzed to in this drive, look at number 50, he gets a running start. he's going full speed with the football step and the offensive line running back cannot block him. jim: it's out of his hands. phil: perfect throw. jim: just like that, it's fourth and 18. phil: he's got him town the middle. it's another blitz. jim: should have been caught.

penalty. people say, well it's not. so where are you going to start drawing the line? if you're going to make these rules up, you've got to call them. is it a tough call? it's beyond tough. it's an incredible call against your team. but it is a rule. jim: it's a first down on a fourth and 18. wayne down at the 19. called -- call that has absolutely kept them in the game. phil: oh, yes, the game was -- it was over. there's the owner of the philadelphia eagles. jim: another first down at the 19. tamme holds on at the 13.

phil: still have not used their time-outs. no matter if it's a touchdown or a field goal they'll get it back if they stop the eagles in three minutes. jim: diving catch by white gives them first and goal to go. phil: eagles' defense, that was good for the eagles, let them catch it. look at the time going off the clock. phil: james in the back field, he scored from this far out. they go back to him. it's time to close in on them at the 3. phil: looked like -- looks like, you think peyton manning should be going fast. but you can't. you've got to make sure you're lined up. you can't give away a play. one negative play and the game is over. jim: a snap before the two-minute warning. just in time. back to james.

-- phil: what a call to come back with reverse again. i know it's a little nitpicky but michael vick snapped that football with five or six seconds jim: that's not a little nitpick. phil: you've got to snap it at one. now it doesn't mat we are the clock stopped. jim: pick up four yards that would do it. that's mccoy. in traffic. two yards short of the first. a quick time-out at 54. now the n.f.c. east standings, the giants blew out seattle today. of course the eagles sitting here at 4-3 with 54 seconds to go. phil: new york giants are absolutely playing better than anybody in football right now. jim: thing about the eagles, this is their eighth game they played only one division game

so far system of five of their last eight will be inside that division. while the colts are at 5-2. they play five of their first eight on the road. phil: you know, of course, you always hear, let the quarterback go outside and give him an option to do whatever. but with michael vick, it's a reality. most of the time they say it, it's not. jim: third and 2, whistle's first. referee: third and final charged time-out, philadelphia. a 30-second time-out. jim: the eagles call that from the sideline. going to have a real division flavor the rest of the way, including the next two in washington, redskins have already beaten them once. giants. chicago over buffalo today game played up in toronto. phil: at chicago. none of those are easy.

you're going, look at the cowboy, that'll be easy. in the nfl, nobody throws in the towel anymore like they used to. jim: cowboys their opponent two of the last four. dallas tonight plays at green bay. jeff saturday not looking too optimistic about getting the football back. phil: no matter what, it has to be a run. you've got to play the odds and keep the clock moving. jim: if this is against the eagles that's going to certainly give the colts a very good chance of getting the football back. phil: the eagles were upset about the call. was somebody yelling the signals? which is unsportsmanlike conduct. referee: false start, offense, five-yard penalty.

third down. jim: another penalty for the eagles, they've racked them up today. this is their 13th one. a little flinch by nick cole. again they had to move him in today with jean gillis injured early in the game. phil: they were yelling about eric foster flinched like to simulate the start of a snap count. of course he did it on purpose. this is a great move. put michael vick in the shotgun, give him the opportunity to run. jim: third and 7. he is going to run. he's tackled from behind by robert mathis. the colts call the time-out with 47 seconds. that's the last time-out for the colts.

again, here's the lineup tonight on cbs, "60 minutes." "amazing race." "undercover boss," "c.s.i.: miami." only cbs. rocco will come in and punt into a breeze that's settled down a little bit. phil: it has a little. i haven't noticed it affecting the punts like it was before early in the game. jim: white is back to receive the punt. he's standing at the 20. jim: sends it back cleanly. fair catch, not a long punt. so at the 26-yard line, 40

yards in all, 40 seconds to go. phil: and downwind. jim: downwind. you've got to get to, let's say to get a chance, maybe the 35, the opponent's 35, you need around 40 yards. phil: between the 35 and 40 with the wind. the fact that it would be the last play of the game, then the kicker can gamble, kick it lower if he needs a few extra yards. jim: no time-outs left on either side. that's garcon. a chance to bring him down. in the field of play but he's able to hustle out of bounds. this is just a gain of a yard, that's all. took seven seconds. phil: they hit they get the blitz, hit the receiver full speed but everybody alert, only gives up yard. the eagles came with the blitz. when the game is on the line, do what you do best.

jim: 30 seconds. to tamme. with the catch. symms pushed him out by the game's 15. phil: i know this is what they work on, jacob tamme, nice throw. good job under pressure. i would put a defensive back on tamme. jim: cole, who was banged up on the last series, he's back out there. that's 11 catches for tamme in this game. incomplete over the head of garcon. garcon, who has been locked down moe of the day by asante samuel. phil: good idea.

samuel has a good day, goers in knockout at the line of scrimmage. nice changeup. but he never saw the football. jim: garcon with only two catches, 15 yards. 23 seconds to go. phil: if you blitz, you've got to tackle. jim: going for a long one on samuel. over the head of garcon. samuel challenged him again. but he's not budging. phil: it's all about knowing the defense. he's outside, looking. in not going to bite he knows there's somebody to the middle of the field to help him out. there's no reason to overplay a move to the inside. jim: 18 seconds no time-outs. they need about 20, 25 yards to have any shot downwind.

phil: if you get tackled inbounds, it'll be tough unless it's way down the field to get in position. jim: they go down the middle. samuel with the second pick of the day. that'll do it. he's going to run out of bounds. he's going to stay in and run out the clock. two picks on the game by asante samuel and the eagles are going to upend the indianapolis colts. phil: the game had a lot of breaks in it today. penalties, but still, very good game. two teams very competitive. michael vick. jim: he had to go back to the sideline, samuel reversed course.
