cut short, how a volcano a causing problems with the president's overseas trip. >> >> hello, i'm don scott. >> and i'm jessica kartalija. here's what people are talk about today. president barack obama arrived in indonesia on the second stop in his international trip. as joel reports, the trip could be cut short because ovule cantic ash -- volcano ash. >> the president threw a dinner to welcome back president obama to the place where he spent his childhood. the president wants to expand tried with the world's largest muslim country. the president complained that other countrys are doing more to expand business with indonesia. you mentioned we're number three and i said, we want to be number one. the president hoped to have

the health care talks. later this week, the president will visit south korea and japan. a pakistani born man is accused of helping al-qaeda arrange d.c. bombings -- well, hi, don, later on today, he'll appear in a court in virginia. the investigators say that the man cased the subway stations as part of setting off parts of plots and kill commuters. he was actually feeding the plots to agents. the 34 is held without bail and he's accused of contacing terrorists overseas in hopes of killing american soldiers. thank you, and the officials monitored the man during the investigation and the public was not in danger.

the police arrest a man on animal abuse charges after neighbors found him with a gun in his yard. derek valcourt is live with what the police say happened. >> reporter: hi, jessica, the allocations are not pretty. one dog shot and another starved to death and a third may have been doused in boiling water. the 35-year-old is facing animal abuse charges after the police were called to his home by the neighbors. according to the police complaints, he told the officers when his dog began attacking his other dog, he tried to break up the fight by throwing boiling water and when that didn't work, he attacked with a two by four and then he shot the pit bull and the police investigating found another dead dog that was emaciated and locked in a crate in the yard. >> reporter: the pit bull

didn't survive and the police took the survived dog. derek, thank you. he faces 15 criminal charges and including 11 counts of animal cruelty. >> a fire burns its way through the home of a harford county -- family. no word on how it began, and they made it out safely. the maryland lawmakers voted down the way that teachers are evaluated statewide. some members of a legislative committee didn't think it was legal and others feared that the $250 million in federal funds could be lost. and the u.s. justice department is giving $300,000 to fight gunning crime and gang activity. they'll present the grants to the maryland attorney general's on friday.
