it's wjz, maryland's news station. . hello again, we begin with breaking news that police are keeping a close eye. officers on the scene of a barricade situation. a woman has shot and wounded and a small child rescued in randallstown. this domestic incident began this morning behind this closed school, holy family school. and they found a woman, the wife of the suspect, was shot not only in the face but shot multiple times. a child was rescued by police. the child is safe and secure. they do not know are there any other hostages, they believe the man is the only one inside but he is still armed.

neighbors are being kept inside. >> we notified neighbors around the house and taking other measures to notify the neighborhood as to what is going on. >> reporter: are they staying secure in the basements or removed from the homes? >> we're asking residents to say inside and be patient with us as we handle this situation. >> what we're seeing in the staging area, if we go this way, we have a hostage negotiation team, they have had several helicopters, dogs and we have the s.w.a.t. team in the neighborhood. the female is in critical but stable condition in shock trauma. apparently within the last two days the police have had to respond to this house for a domestic situation. >> now the streets are shut down. we're continuing to follow the standoff for you and we'll bring

you an update later. the possible tornado that struck in baltimore county and city yesterday morning damaging hundreds of homes, sky chopper 13 is over the scene. you've -- you're seeing a few of the houses damaged and we are learning that some of the homes are beyond repair. wjz is live with first warning coverage of the storm's impact. we begin with northeast baltimore on more on the cleanup and on those who have lost their homes. >> reporter: believe it or not, a lot of the debris is already cleaned up in the area, you come upon scenes like this, a tree uprooted, overall the area is safe enough for some to go home. tons of branches and pieces of root ready to be hauled off.

15 building are being condemned, that's 54 units unable to go back. >> we saw it. >> reporter: she had just 15 minutes to pack her belongings. >> the building is unstable. we lost our furniture and everything. >> reporter: she is back home but has nails through the ceiling. >> what is happening? >> reporter: many of the residents are in good spirits even though for some much of what they own are gone or destroyed. >> we have to start over. just start over, god always opens the door, always. >> now some of the residents in the condemned buildings like the one behind me will move into

other units, other residents may get some help from the city to find a new place. >> thank you. you have seen it from the ground, the complete coverage begins in chopper 13. good afternoon, mike. >> good afternoon. the parkdale area west of harford road, this seems to be what you're seeing a lot of. there was some significant damage to homes, roof damage to this one and you can see some windows blown out. there were some trucks working in the area, we're seeing some today but much of the damage appears to be largely in the cleanup stage or beyond it, folks getting the repairs at this point. a lot of shingles blown off, not nearly to the extent we see it down in the area of peering

parkway, that yesterday was significant. what you're seeing here is still a lot of trees and that type of cleanup to be done. >> the size of the trees are amazing. >> thank you. our first warning coverage begins with marty bass and tim williams over in the first warning weather center. mother nature's gift is not making matters worse. giving us more winds and making the cleanup difficult. we have winds now around the state, 10 mile-per-hour winds at bwi marshall. nothing too gusty. 3 mile-per-hour winds in cumberland and 6 towards packs river. they're ushering in miling temperatures. the temperatures above our normal. we're at 57 in central maryland. 52 out in the western suburbs.

what does today and tomorrow hold for the weekend? for more we go to marty. >> thank you. good afternoon. it's beautiful out here right now, the sun is out but we're going to start to see some clouds moving our way. let's look at the graphic, there's a disturbance passing by to the south and going to be a couple of different reasons weather is unsettled. the cool flow from the northwest, but let's look at first warning doppler, is this low passing down to the south? this will show where moisture is aloft. that's not necessarily rain falling, however clouds start moving our way. they will clear the region by tomorrow morning. and the general thinks is that they really won't give us any rain. it's just going to be gray skies this afternoon and tonight with clearing skies tomorrow and a good run of sun through the weekend. the way it feels now, it's the way it will feel at lunch hour
