hello again, here's what people are talking about this noon. it's a story five years in the making and it's coming to an end. a man is sentenced. >> reporter: good afternoon, don and everyone. the judge sentenced tetso to 30 years and because of the sentencing guidelines and because of the prior criminal record, he could only get a maximum of 18 years. that's what we'll spend behind bars. he's eligible for patrol in nine years. >> reporter: the judge told tetso that the sentencing guidelines don't fit the crimes.

he said he can't sentence him for what he deserves. >> the family got a certain sense of closier, without a body, they would like a place to mourn and grieve. >> reporter: she vanished in march, 2005. there the prosecutors say he killed her on his way to a concert and hid her corporation. fiance beg for mercy. he's appealing the decision. >> well, regardless, he pled not guilty and he maintained his innocence and that takes away the argument and remorse and that's often the biggest piece of the mitigating factors and sentencing and regardless of what happened to tracey tetso, everyone's sorry that she's missing and for her

family. >> reporter: dennis declined to address the sentencing today because of his possible appeal. thank you, very much, mike. the defense had 30 days to file the appeal. and now, the other story, the death of another teen in boston takes a bizarre turn. it was thought to be a case of murder, but he may have fallen out of an airplane. ronald reagan has if -- ron matz has if latest on this. >> reporter: the body of the 16- year-old was found last week, his body was so badly mutilated, an autopsy couldn't give his cause of death. he may have gotten into a plane's wheel well in boston and fell out. and he recently moved to north carolina to live with his father. it was the same day his body was found that he was reported missing in north carolina. and family members he was trying to get from north

carolina back to here. they're not sure how he ended up in massachusetts. and a trial date is set for a state mental patient charged with killing another. the 26-year-old is accused of strangling a 45-year-old in september. both were sent to the hospital in connection with earlier murder cases and the trial is set for next march. the white house is condemning north korea's attack on south korea. athey're renewing the concerns. >> reporter: thick columns of black smoke rose from this island and north korea shelled the island after warning the rival to stop the drills in the area. civilians living on the island ran for she would -- shelter and two south korean marines were killed. this south returned the fire

and returned a fighter jets in a clash that lasted an hour. it was one of the host provocative clashes between the countries. the white house can called for the north to stand down. the united states strongly condemns the attack. calling to hold the action. >> reporter: a national security adviser woke up president obama before 4:00 a.m. to brief him on the confrontation and the u.s. has 28,000 troops in the south. >> reporter: president obama reaffirmed his support. >> the united states will not waiver in the commitment to the security of the republic of korea. >> reporter: and fights grow from time to time. this is because of the claim that north korea claims they

warm outside. we're in the mid-60s around the state an this is what's coming our way. we have rain with it in parts of the state. we'll put this in motion and take you on tour here. here's the front from the west and this is coming down more solid by than others. it's moving into northern carroll county. that's a more solid rain now and out towards hagerstown and this is going to build and break itself apart as it moves our way. it will also bring changes in the weather. good afternoon, everyone. we'll see colder air and i mean colder, not chillier -- it's infused into the region. this shows tomorrow, the vortex of what's going to be the first real good arctic blast of the season. it's up to our north and east. high pressure, up over the great lakes is going to start funnel in the air our way out of central canada.

look at the temperatures. minus five in bismarck and low 30s in kansas city and go to memphis, you can see, it's 60 degrees. and there's a clear boundary of where this air coming out of central canada is shifting across the eastern half of the united states. this is not one of the deals we'll see like in early fall where the cold air comes and makes it into the mid-atlantic. this is sweeping all the way down into central florida. i want you to see my honest weather man face, tomorrow will be 10 plus degrees colder than today and thursday, 20 plus degrees colder than today and friday, we'll be in the upper 20s. my, the weather has changed in the past hour. bernadette woods has more, back to you. and a second wal-mart is coming to baltimore city. last night, the city council

sunshine and then, the clouds came in with the front. eventually, the southern parts of the state, you're getting the clouds and a chance for shower. now, the front's breaking apart across maryland and we'll have a chance for showers. picking out the winds ahead of it and tomorrow, the temperatures are changing big time. it's very warm out there now. look at this, close to 70- degrees in pat tux sent -- patuxent and ocean city and we're still in the western part of the state and behind this, the temperatures will drop about 15 degrees statewide. here's the front. this is the really cold air that's sitting behind it. and this is going to moderate before it gets our way. we're talking about temperatures minus double digits across the plains now. if you're traveling in that direction for the holidays, it will be cold. this front comes through and it will get out of here and here
