here's what people are talking about today. we may know what caused the five alarm fire that tied up rush hour last week. it was a week ago monday. the baltimore sun is reporting sources familiar with the investigation say that fire was intentionally set. that could mean a criminal investigation is underway. atf will release the findings later on this everyone. we'll have more tonight. now, the fire that ripped through an east baltimore row him killed six including children. now, relatives are speaking about their loss. wjz and mike hellgren are live with more. >> reporter: good afternoon, don, good afternoon, everyone. it is an intense and time consuming process sifting through the debris and finding

out what caused the fire and one that's not yet over at this hour , a memorial sits outside of the house where six died including three children. one day after wind whipped flames and smoke engulfed the row home, investigators are looking into what sparked the fire. family members are speaking out. >> we got the phone call, it still hasn't hit me yet. they're gone. all ate one time. >> reporter: arson investigators are at the scene. the firefighters aren't listing an official cause yet. >> we're investigating the cause of the fire, there's no cause determined i don't think there are words to describe how horrible this is for their family. there's not a good time of the year to lose a family member

and the holidays make it difficult. >> the flames spread to two other homes. the city and red cross are assisting. this is the deadliest fire in baltimore this year, killing three generations of the family that lived on the block for decades. my mother lived here a long time. she was a nice neighbor that looked out for everyone. she was a very, very nice lady. i'm praying for her family. >> reporter: the winds, we're still feeling them. they made it difficult for the firefighters yesterday. they had to be evacuated from the building. reporting live in east baltimore, mike hellgren, eyewitness news. 18 people have died in fires this year. the winds and freezing temperatures worked against the firefighters and the seen. the bitter cold begins today. this is the scene in woodlawn earlier.

maryland history is demanding $50 million in damages. the f arca and traffic -- the faa gave out dated weather information. it alleges that the search and rescue started after the crash. early today, a suspicious package shutdown the pentagon metro stop. trains went through without the stop. the package with blinking lights was in a trash can. it turned out to be a battery operated christmas ornament. that comes after an arlington man threatened to bomb the metro system. well, hi, don, investigators say that a 25- year-old told a facebook friend he could use a pipe bomb to kill people on the metro. he alerted the fbi.

the agents raided his home. according to his father, the raid didn't turn up anything. he's charged with communicating threats across state lines. this is the second time in a week that the fbi used fbi to track down a terror suspect inspect area. last than a week ago, a man threatened to blow up a recruitment center in catonsville. school board members in panama city, florida are recovering after a flightenning night. a machine with a gun opened fire during a meeting and it was caught on videotape. we want to warn you, the video is disturbing. >> i don't want anyone to get hurt! >> the superintendent of schools in panama city, florida pleaded with the man who pulled out the gun. the man refused the back down. what happens next is disturbing

welcome back, everyone. mixed clouds and sunshine out there, today. it's so cold, starting at 1:30, the maryland zoo will be closed. the winds aren't up like yesterday. we don't have the same criteria for wind, but it's windy ands the cold. 24 in hagerstown. when you factor in the wind, it feels like minus 4 in oakland and 18-degrees in ocean city. it's cold over the eastern half of the country. the bleeding has stopped from the north. it's cycled down to the south. it's staying over us this is going to get reinforced two more times during the forecast. one of them because of the storm system tomorrow. here's a for the of it to the north tomorrow.

notice, we'll put this into motion. this is extending into alabama. we have icing going on. this is all moving eastward and into the colder air. what we're thinking, tomorrow, there's a chance for snow around here. this is enough that we'll see an inch around here. south of d.c., we could see a few inches. south of that, we'll see the mixing and bigger issues. when we put that into motion -- we're close enough we'll get snow near it. and yet, another storm is coming our way into the colder air. it will take more of the southern track saturday and saturday night. it will turn up the coast. that's the big question now and we know how the storms can be acting. we could get saw storm out of this one. we may not even get anything.
