wjzhd and wjz.com baltimore. >> from the city, to the counties to your neighborhood. now, it's complete coverage. it's wjz io maryland's news station -- maryland's news station. hello, again i am don scott. >> i am jessica kartalija knee begin with breaking news where a tractor trailer struck an overpass over the inner loop of the beltway. we are over the scene. captain mike good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. we are at the inner loop at park heights avenue where around 9 this morning, a piece of heating and air conditioning oversized load you can see one of the two identical pieces of equipment transported along the fast lane of the beltway struck the bridge overpass where park heights overpass is the beltway. and it caused the metal underneath the bridge to twist slightly. you are seeing state highwayinspectors inspecting

the underside of the park heights avenue bridge. now for a short time, the beltway was completely closed in the inner loop. now they have allowed two lanes to pass by as the state highway workers continue the inspection one lane of northbound park heights avenue is continuing. so if you in the area, you will be able to get north of the beltway. on park heights but expect delays in the area. the beltway for most of the morning was grid locked and stopped for some period of time. people looking to get off and figure out a way around this. now we are told the backup extends back to security boulevard as you see two lanes are getting by but it's very slow. state highway officials continue their inspections and no injuries as a result of this damage to the bridge but it's unclear how long the bridge inspection and or repair will take. back to you on tv hill. >> thanks captain mike over park heights and the beltway. we will bring you updates on this story on air and online at

wjz.com. al-qaeda acknowledges the death of osama bin laden for the first time. the warning coincides with the president traveling to kentucky to thank the crews involved in the raid that killed their leader. here danielle nottingham with the latest for wjz. >> reporter: al-qaeda confirms osama bin laden is dead. in an internet statement tight led you lived as a good man you died as a martyr, the terrorist network warns that the group will retaliate against americans saying "the blood will be mingled with tears. new video released by the white house shows the moment before and after president obama announced bin laden's death sunday night. after the speech, he congratulated the national security team. >> you did a great job. >> reporter: today president obama travels to kentucky to thank the u.s. service members responsible for taking down al- qaeda's leader. he is meeting privately with

them at fort campbell addressing soldiers back from afghanistan. new details are emerging about how the u.s. tracked down bin laden. the cia reportedly kept a safe house near the count -- compound where a small team of agents kept a watchful eye. intelligence gathered from the compound shows al-qaeda was considering attacks on u.s. trains, on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. handwritten notes listed major american cities like new york and los angeles as targets. and suggested that al-qaeda might strike on a holiday. >> july 4th, and new year's eve new year's day potential target dates. that's interesting because al- qaeda usually attacked when it's ready to attack and not governed by the calendar. >> reporter: but officials stress that the idea is only in the planning stages and was not operational. at the white house, danielle nottingham, wjz "eyewitness news." >> the al-qaeda statement says bin laden recorded an audio message last week and that

overnight hours. but overall, the weekend is not too bad. at 67 right now. 40 is the dew point. humidity is at 37% with a south wind at 12 miles per hour. a nice light delightful spring breeze out there. 29.96 is the barometer reading. 57 in oakland. 63 in cumber lan. 65 hagerstown and on the shore temperatures approaching 70. we have 68 in patuxent river and ocean city. everyone else is in the mid-60s going into the early friday afternoon. so these winds are coming in from the south and southwest. you know what that means, it brings in warmer air when the winds are coming in from that direction. so he, we are going to be going up through the afternoon. we will be tapping into temperatures that are pretty moderate although in the immediate area, here, up and down the mid atlantic we are the warmest spot in maryland. # 6 in atlanta and -- 66 in atlanta and the mild temperatures are all around us. so we are not going to change not going to fluctuate too much in the temperatures. we are watching is a very weak frontal bondry that will move
