bin laden's home movies. a different, almost bizarre side to the al qaeda killer. tonight, behind the scenes of the terror network. >> good evening. and thanks for joining us. i'm adam may. these videos reveal an almost vain side of the mastermind of terror. watching him dye his beard and practicing scripts. inez feray has more. >> reporter: one of the videos shows osama bin laden in a bare room, huddled in front of a television set, wrapped in a blanket. he clicks on to news of himself and watches the al-jazeera network. it's unclear when the video was shot but it appears to be

inside the compound where navy seals shot him. in the video, bin laden's beard is streaked with gray. three other clips show him rehearsing to tape an al qaeda propaganda video. in those, he appears much more commanding. he is also better groomed and his beard is dyed black. one of them is an outtake, in which he appears to make a mistake reading his line. another is in front of a crude, wrinkledded sheet. >> what they're trying to do is to start a narrative offensive against al qaeda. they're trying to send a very clear message, by first undercutting the image of bin laden as a mythical figure. >> cia director leon pineta said american people expected to hunt down bin laden, and quote, we delivered. >> reporter: on the tape was also something that was never released. a senior official says it was

shot last fall. they decided to release pictures without audio to prevent the videos from being used by al qaeda. the last time bin laden was seen on videotape was in 2007. in new york, ines feray, wjz eyewitness news. >> and this also includes phone numbers and documents that have not been released. students are walking near the homewood campus at st. paul street and 33rd early this morning. that's when the driver hit them. police arrested the driver and at last check, those two students are now in stable condition. a promising young student murdered. police still trying to find the person who killed her. wjz is live at city police headquarters this evening. suzanne collins takes us to the funeral for phylicia barnes. >> she planned to come to baltimore, but she disappeared. and only recently was her body

found in the susquehanna river. >> reporter: at a church in conniers, georgia, the family and friends say goodbye to phylicia barnes, the murdered 16-year-old. >> this saturday time where everybody needs everybody. >> reporter: the teen's family greets supporters. a video of phylicia, a gifted and talented student is placed before those who filled the church. >> reporter: a counselor and schoolteacher speak about felicia's good spirit, and her love for theater. >> she was the type of student who would light up the room with her smile and bubbling personality. >> phylicia was one of those students who was highly motivated. she had clear goals and sought out every opportunity in her high school. >> reporter: a family member reads a poem written by phylicia's mother. one as if the teenager herself

the southeast. couple of these batches will make their way across maryland. especially happening to the northwest of pennsylvania. a couple of different chances for showers. but not all-day rain events. and we will have your mother's day forecast coming up. >> more live racing could be coming to maryland. pen national wants to bring racing. they haven't had a live race track at prince george's county in almost three years. they hope to host 54 days there. well, they risked their lives every day. and today, some volunteer firefighters were honored for their work. duracell, the battery company, held for volunteers. and ravens. still good to be out here in the community to see these guys. and looking into the faces of people that are out there. and they're really saving lives and doing a lot of things for the community.

an airplane crashes into the sea, killing everyone on board. 25 people were traveling on the indonesian plane when it missed the runway by 500 feet and hit the water. at last report, 15 bodies have been recovered. indonesia has a number of small, regional airlines that are known for their poor safety records. two muslim men kicked off. the men were already seated on a memphis flight when a delta supervisor got on the plane and asked them to leave. they say they were told that the pilot was uncomfortable, having them on board. ironically, the men were actually on their way to attend a national conference on the

issue of islama phobia. >> it shouldn't happen with any other person. regardless of religion. regardless of color. regardless the profession. >> that delta flight is operated by a subcarrier, atlantic southeast airline, asa, they have apologized buyer that whey saul -- what they call an inconvenience. a leopard attacks a 7-year- old boy. police say the first grader was on a field trip at the zoo, when he climbed under the security rail and under the leopard enclosure. that's when one of the leopards reached out and grabbed the boy. he suffered deep scratches to the neck but is expected to make a recovery. a 97-year-old woman saved from floodwaters. the elderly woman almost swept away. the water gushing alt 40 to 45 miles an hour. two national guardsmen jumped into action, saving the woman's

life, and today, one of them was deployed to germany. on this mother's day weekend, a tribute to moms who raise their children in baltimore city is now being reborn. mike schuh takes us to a forgotten garden that is blooming once again. ♪ [ music ] >> reporter: occasionally, you can add by subtracting. >> a lot of things were very overgrown. this whole area was very overgrown. >> reporter: volunteers have taken all of that away, revealing an 85-year-old garden, a garden maintained by mothers. mayor schaefer revitalized it. but again, neglect claimed this proud hilltop. >> i just feel like this is a jewel hidden in the middle of the city. and it was kind of forgotten and neglected. >> reporter: so now, another try to restore faded glory. instead of the city taking the lead, the community has stepped up. >> so we just started coming out on weekends, doing some gardening and cleaning it up

ourselves. that's when we got the ball rolling. >> by taking symbolic ownership of the care of this box, the community is strengthened. >> why is it important? well, i think human nature is to clean the community. >> you're got to turn off the computer, turn off the tv. you have to get outside and get your hands dirty. and for me, that's difficult. >> reporter: dedicated to mothers. now appreciated by all. >> reporter: organizers are looking for corporate support. at clifton park, mike schuh, wjz eyewitness news. back to you on tv hill. >> looks so much better already. if you'd like to become involved, the group has sort of a facebook page. it is called the friends of mother's garden. and current and former ranks teamed -- ravens teamed up to battle lou gehrig's disease. the former player on the ravens' super bowl winning team was diagnosed with als back in 2007. the money raised from this run helps people and families affected by that disease. it was a beautiful morning for so many events in the city this

morning. they had the connecticut race at the museum there at the highway. just goes everywhere. and also i had the privilege of emceeing the motors -- mothers against drunk driving 5k walk. and everybody had nice sunshine. and it was a perfect walk. >> what a great day. and it was really difficult to get through the city. sun has been in and out of the clouds last couple of hours. still 70 degrees outside. it's a beautiful evening. there is a chance for a couple of showers. and we'll have that forecast when we come back. a nice, cool breeze. >> so busy downtown. >> we've had so many cloudy days. >> really? really? >> but rainfall amounts aren't huge. just the clouds have been around. >> yeah? >> really. in case you didn't know. >> it was raining the last, like three weeks. first warning doppler radar, there is still some rain out there. fortunately for us, look, it's all around us. nothing on top of us. but the thing is, these showers are drifting off to the southeast. when i put it into motion, this batch will be eventually crossing the border and heading in our direction. there are a couple of showers already. and just scooting around hagerstown at this point. so we'll switch it over and show you what has been going on. a very unsettled weather pattern. but the thing is, not all-day rain events here. now, the clouds are building up. they are drifting by. but these will eventually die down. then what we're going to look at, these winds starting to die down also. tonight, as far as temperatures

go, we had a beautiful afternoon, temperature-wise. still 70 degrees in baltimore. 68 in d.c. and so far, we did top out at 71 degrees. right on par with our average. but we're going to drop down to the 50s overnight. as a lot of those averages do start to die down. but this storm track is still on top of us. and there are a few more pieces of energy lined top come in our direction. today, just one round. and tomorrow, another round moves in our direction. you can see very widespread. not everybody getting it. but the chance for a couple of showers tomorrow. again, not an all-day rain event. just the chance out there. then, what happens. and another one is going to take i a similar track. although it may stay away for a couple of days. we're holding off. holding down, actually. not huge ones, but they do exist. we put it together for a forecast. winds turning around to the northeast. only 5 knots tomorrow. showers out there right now.

they'll probably be dying down. tomorrow, the rain comes together, it's 72 for our high. mix of clouds clouds and sunshine. chance for a couple of showers. then we kept it pretty dry the next couple of days. because these are just chances. tomorrow, again monday and tuesday. and temperatures all the way -- while, pretty much stay in the mid-70s. not too bad overall. we're going to see sunshine out there. adam? >> that looks great. >> unlike? >> unlike our birds. >> yeah. >> another one down the tank today. >> what is going on with that. >> i can't see anything else. i can just show you how that helped the demise today and more, once we come back.
