accused him of sexual assault. >> that investigation raised concerns about the witness' credibility. >> reporter: the made misrepresented what she did after the attack and admitted she made up a story about being rape. her attorney fired back, insisting she was the victim of a rutile aact. >> the medical evidence support the victim's account. the forensic evidence supports her account. >> reporter: prosecutors haven't dropped the charges against dominique strauss-kahn. they are keeping their investigation open and plan to be back here for another hearing in a few weeks. >> thank you. >> dominique strauss-kahndist and his attorneys thanked the judge. >> we maintained that dominique strauss-kahn is innocent of the

charges. >> reporter: the arrest forced him to resign that international monetary fund. and scrapped plans to run for president in france. he still can't leave the u.s. but there is talk he could be a candidate again. randall pinkston, wjz eyewitness news. >> dominique strauss-kahn will return to court on july 18. >> new information on a missing law school graduate. jessica kartalija is live with more. >> reporter: she has not been seen since saturday and yesterday a body was found inside her apartment building. she graduated from law school in georgia and was about to take the bar exam. police haven't identified the body they found. a friend says her belongings and car keys were inside the apartment and her car was outside. >> thank you. police expect to have an

i.d. on the body tomorrow afternoon. >> a young life cut short. a 15-year-old teen shot accidentally by a friend is layed to rest tonight. we spend the morning and more on the service. >> reporter: many tears were shed here over michael brooks and the pastor said not to place brame just to know he is at piece. michael brooks' loved ones paid their respects. he was 15. his friend accidentally shot him in the head last saturday after a sheaf over after gaining access to one of 22 weapons. >> you can't blame anybody. it is over. so you just have to move on. >> his family is struggling to come to terms with the death. police won't file charges but

haven't ruled them off against the gun's owner who says he kepted the guns locked up and had no idea how the children got aheld of them. -- ahold of them. >> brooks loved football and pallbearers wore ravens jerseys. this case brought up concerns over gun storage. if you have a weapon in the home and children in the home that gun is locked up and unloaded. reporting live, mike hellgren, wjz eyewitness news. we will have more from friends and family of michael brooks coming up at 5:00 and 6:00. family grieving the loss of a mother is planning a candlelight vigil tonight. her and her daughter were found dead inside a hotel this week.

an tops reveals randy savage died from heart disease. he had an enlarged heart with blocking of his arteries. he was driving when he crashed into a tree. he suffered minor injuries from the crash but the cause of his death is heart failure. this fourth of july weekend many will take time to remember the men and women of the military, especially those hurt in the line of duty. sandra hughes reports about a program that is helping with disfiguring wounds. >> reporter: he considers himself lucky to be alive.

are being driven out of the show roam. ford was up 10%. smaller cars were the hot sellers but tracks and suvs also improved. manufacturing is up, orders increased at u.s. factories and more workers were hired but construction spending is down after the government cut back on building projects and more americans are concerned about their personal finances. the index fell in june, they blame a weak job market and falling stock prices. good news for the americans who are expected to hit the road this holiday. gas is the cheapest since late march. the average is $3.55. and the company behind the facebook game farmville is going public. they hope to raise $1 billion

the north and northwest. that's what we have been dealing with. easton 10 miles per hour from the northwest. we are still tapping into temperatures close to our own. we will start seeing a shift in the wind to the west and then southwest. that will bring in warmer air heading into saturday and sunday. we are in the warm sector of a warm front. that will push through the reggen for the next 12 hours or so. actually 24 hours or so. behind it is a cold front that will approach from the mid- west. as high pressure pressure continues to ease down to the south and east, it will allow for the front to move into the region. as it gets closer and the temperatures and dew points go higher we will see a better chance of thunderstorms in the afternoons on saturday, sunday and monday. we will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, widely scattered. warm for the weekend and you won't have to worry about the

is in court. as joy reports. >> this was the first court appearance for him. accused of boarding a play with an expired boarding pass in someone's else's name. he made it on a flight headed to los angeles. half way there a flight attendant noticed he was sitting in a seat that was supposed to be empty. the fbi questioned him when he deplaned but let him go. they tracked him down again this week at lax when he tried to board another flight with a boarding pass that was not his own. they found 10 more boarding pass, all with different names. authorities did not believe he was part of a terrorist organization or that this incident is some sort of a dry

run. the tsa said it is important to note this passenger was subject to the same screening as other passengers. he is charged with being stow away on an aircraft. in los angeles, joy benedict, wjz eyewitness news. >> he is scheduled back in court on july 13. the casey anthony murder trial is back on just hours after the judge ordered a recess. mary is live with the twist and turns. there was a break so the defense could speak with witnesses the prosecutors plan to call. they didn't reveal all the information they planned to testify about. a after a few hours the defense said it was good to resume the trial. casey anthony is charged with the death of her daughter

caylee anthony. >> thank you. the defense rested yesterday without calling casey anthony to the stand. 103,000 acres are burning in new mexico. it is now the largest wildfire in that state's history. but as sandra hughes reports, firefighters are optimistthic fire will stay out of the town of los alamos. >> reporter: using controlled burns to create a perimeter. it's the best defense against this growing wildfire. >> i am feeling good about my portion, my piece of this puzzle, to low the laboratory is safe. >> 1200 firefighters are attacking the flames from the air and ground. they dropped fire retardant to stop the wildfire's advance. >> i am less terned than in 2000. >> the town of los alamos is thick with beck but they are

skip fireworks this july. nasa is suing one of the men it helped to put on the moon. >> one small step for man, one giant leap for man kind. >> they are sueing is edgar mitchell on the apollo mission. it wants back a camera that went to the moon with him. he recently tried to sell that camera. more than a dozen people are rescued from a washington monautomatic after the localivater got stuck. they managed to bring the elevator back down to the floor but 2 dozen visitors had too walk down. it happened again in maryland, a child shoots another with a gun. jessica kartalija is following this story. >> this time the victim was not

student falls falls to his death while filming football practice. they will pay $30,000 in fines. last october a man was filming from a lift when strong winds blew it over. the appearance of a student makes another plea for information about her. the parents held a news conference today and urged the community to help bring them -- help them bring their daughter home. despite searches, she has been missing for a month now and there is no indication of what happened to her. the spot where the fbi's most wanted man was arresticide the most wanted place in california. jim reports with the latest twist on the case. >> reporter: this is one of the hottest pieces of west coast

government or the victims will get it. >> reporter: bulger made the trip to federal court in a helicopter after his trip back from the west coast in a private jet. this was too much for victims. >> he has been in a leer jet and helicopter, i have never been in one. the government has been lying for years. >> reporter: that chopper cost $14,000 an hour to operate. >> a judge agreed to drop the racketeering charges but he is still facing charges of murdering 19 people. a bus company is shut down for falsifying records. one of the buses rear ended a tractor-trailer on monday. it killed a bus driver and injured 2 dozen passengers. the company faced large fines

for failing to comply with other regulations. mysterious drowning. a woman drowned in a pool and was not spotted for more than two days. bill shields reports. >> we are serious of determining the why, what about the events. what actions could have been taken. >> reporter: it's a mystery as murky as the water. sunday night she drowned. but no one noticed her at the bottom of 12 feet of water. they didn't notice her then or monday or most of the day tuesday. >> i find that disturbing. i see that as a break down. >> reporter: six life guards on duty and no one saw her.

health inspectors checked the pool on tuesday noticing only the water was not clear. >> the only thing of note in the report was that the inspector did indicate the water was cloudy. the water has to be checked for clarity and bacteria every hour but the body was at the bottom for two days and the water was so cloudy no one saw her, not life guards, not swimmers, not inspectors. >> i am demanding the pool is not reopened till the states reviewed the operating procedures. >> a 9-year-old saw the woman go under but he didn't tell anybody. a man on a flight to alaska finds a stow away on board with him. a scorpion stung him on the arm. the man and his girlfriend held

on to the big bug fearing the sting could be deadly. >> oh, my god, that's a scorpion. my table was down, i grabbed a napkin. picked it up and held on to it. >> the man suffered no major effects from the sting. only a mark on his arm. police suspect the scorpion mitched a ride from texas. can receiving text help someone quit smoking. a study says yes. people who received motivational text messages doubled their chances of kicking the habit. they also included advice on keeping weight off and how to deal with nicotine cravings. hot dog eating competitors weigh in in new york.

points are in the 40s. and this is the lowest they have been and that's why it is so refreshing and comfortable outside right now. as far as temperatures we are up to 90 in d.c. 80 in oakland. at the ocean, it's 81 degrees right now. taking you in closer. everyone at least in the 80s. cooler long the water, 70ss for the bay temperatures. winds out of the northwest, the humidity levels and dew points low. that is going to change over the weekend. this is going to be a process. tomorrow we start to warm it up. the humidity takes over the next few days. this storm brings it our way. there is not a lot to it right now but there are showers and storms out there and this will creep in our direction. tomorrow it gets closer.

the chance for a shower or thunderstorms. and on sunday the front is closer, so our best chance for scattered showers and storms and it leaves on monday and as it does show, we could still see a shower or storm. that beaches and southern parts of maryland have a better chance for it. while all of that is happening, on the waters tomorrow, beautiful day. winds at 5-10 nots. the bay temperatures 79 degrees. tonight we are going down to 64. another very comfortable night. and then tomorrow we start warming it up. up to 90. the humidity builds but still nothing oppressive at all. the air quality alert goes into effect for lot of the state, not everyone. it starts tomorrow. we may see more over the next few days. humidity cracks more on sunday and monday. chance of scattered showers and
