a stolen tanker found, how and where police recovered it with 3,000 gallons of gasoline inside of it and the investigation on who's behind the big heist. >> that tanker truck that disappeared on the eastern shore and how alert police officers spotted it in philadelphia. wjz and mike hellgren. >> reporter: good afternoon. no one was inside the tanker when it was found. no arrests have been made i spoke to the lead investigator in kent county. he said there are people they are looking at. he believes the motive is theft, not terrorism. an officer spotted it here in southwest fill ficialtion 75 -- philadelphia, 75 miles away from where it was stolen. police spent hours gathering

evidence, looking for finger prints that could lead them to whoever took it and its pay lode. >> we estimate the value of the flapped was on bored as well as the truck being close to $100,000 or more. you always have the worries that someone will use the product for illegal purposes. >> reporter: with the anniversary of 9/11, it put authorities on high alert. philadelphia police said there was no link to terrorism. >> this, just like our department putting the alert out. maryland did the responsible thing and everyone within a reasonable radius of the jurisdiction. >> reporter: an alert went out across the east coast but police can't say exactly why the tanker was taken or whether there's surveillance video from the

alger oil lot. al gore oil -- alger oil delivers oil to the eastern shore and parts of delaware. the fuel was still inside the tanker when they found. this the police officer who discovered the truck said he was looking at an app on his smartphone and that app alerted him that the truck was stolen and matched the stolen license plate and, don, that is how they found it. >> amazing. the truck has been released to alger oil. whoever took it decided it was too hot to handle. a norwegian cruise ship catches fire. >> two people died and dozens were injured after an engine room fire. it was traveling from norway's second city when the fire broke out, forcing an evacuation.

the two killed in the fiery blast are believed to be crew members. the fire is under investigation. there are reports that an additional four people are missing but police have yet to confirm that. the cruise ship company is making room for guests to come back home. >> sky chopper 13 over the scene at light and austin street. first responders did not find anyone inside. they are working on the cause. anne arundel police are investigating a string of apparent abduction attempts and sexual assaults, all involving school students. an 11-year-old said a man in a mini van approached her as she got off the bus near riva road. she ran away. earlier that day students saw a man hiding in the woods near quiet woods park. the local freelance journalist who broke free from a

libyan prison is choosing to stay in that country. matthew vandyke's mother said she has spoken with him several times and he insists he will not be coming home until moammar gadhafi is out of power and the three men traveling with him are also safe. britain's prime minister is now urging gadhafi to give himself up and his fighters to lay down their weapons. this is a show of support for libyan's rebel leaders. here's the latest for wjz. >> reporter: libyans cheered as britain's prime minister arrived in tripoli to congratulate them on their new found freedom. david cameron urged gadhafi and his followers to surrender. >> the message is it is over. give up.

alabama teenager natalee holloway is asking the court to declare her dead. she was last seen during a graduation trip in 2005 to aruba. the suspect, joran van der sloot has never been charged but is awaiting murder trial on the death of another woman in south america. the woman accused of killing her stepdaughter could be sentenced to 18 years in prison. the girl was later found in a nearby creek. human remains are discovered in the desert. the remains are certainly human but they can't confirm they belong to susan powell. powell has been missing from her home since december of 2009. the remains were found in a spot

we started this day watching the radar and watching a lot of rain to our west and north and everybody expected it to sneak by. >> the cloud cover is an indication of how close it s it did skirt across the top of the state. there's lap front poised -- a front poised out to the west that will be moving in this direction. what we're dealing with, kind of tells the story. we showed you we did have showers moving across the region. a lot of it is across the top

tear. this front is off to the west. as it moves, it will trigger a few showers or so on the front edge and right along it. that will move along this afternoon. then we'll she cooler temperature -- see cooler temperatures. we could see a difference of 20 degrees. right now what we're dealing with is this front moving on through. it will take a little while to work its magic. take a look. taking a look over the east, taking a look over towards the bridges, no real wind but the winds will pick up through the afternoon as well. no advisories on the bay but the front that's moving on through will take a little while. we start to see high pressure. it will build into the weekend. we'll start to see temperatures cool down. oir first real taste of fall and
