home after spending 4-years in anallian prison. the 24-year-old landed in seattle with parents and sisters who traveled with her from europe. >> what's important for me to say is thank you for everyone who believed in me, who was defending me, who supported my family. >> reporter: knox broke down on & when her conviction was overturned. in 2007 the college student was studying when she was arrested for sexually ausculting and murder r murdering her inmate. knox's parents were in the courtroom. they both spent years living in italy fighting for their daughter. >> we couldn't have made it through it without all you people out here. >> reporter: her case played out under an international spotlight and here her story often made headlines, many here are relieved, they were worried this day would never come.

>> just that she sleeps in her own bed tonight. >> reporter: welcome home banners and signs are now in the neighborhood where knox grew up. >> my family is the most important thing to me right now i just want to go be with him. >> reporter: neighbors and friends raised money for their defense. she gives thanks to everyone who helped her get home. a high school continuer spins out of control over new york city and crashes into the east river. tonight a tourist is dead, four other people barely rescued in time. wjz is there as that flight took off. emergency divers jumped in the emergency waters racing to pull survivors to safety. they had been on board a helicopter that crashed this afternoon. police say the pilot ran into travel right after take off.

tonight the chopper was pulled from the bottom of the river so investigators could try to figure out what happened. >> it spun around a few times and it flipped over with the nose facing towards queens. it went right over. >> they had to battle a strong current as they pulled three of the passengers to shore. captain was in new york having service when that helicopter went down. >> we were outside doing maintenance. we watched them take off and head over to the new york area. it was shortly there after maybe a half hour or so that we got the battle news he had crashed. >> news chopper crashed in the east river within 3 days of each other. investigators ruled human error caused both of those crashes. animal abuse in baltimore, a cat is burned to death.

animals that have come in with embedded colors. >> in august 20-year-old was arrested after investigators say he adopted at least five cats and killed them. animal advocates started a campaign to try and stop crimes like this. >> we're trying to break that mindset that it's a way to show your manhood, it's a tougher thing to do to hurt your cat. they want to find out who killed it before they strike again or do something even worse. >> reporter: bag moore is the only city in the country that has antiabuse huber -- advisory condition. >> officials are warning people to not let your pets outside by themselves. another dangerous trend, criminals pretending to be police break into another home.

the latest attacked happened last night. three men posing as officers stole $1,800 cash from the homeowners. police say there is no solid link to three other robbers in the city pulled off by a state cop. >> john -- where she's sexually assaulted in the ally. >> city police do look more suspect tonight while the students are looking over their shoulders. >> greater police presence monday night around the john hopkins university campus after a week attack. a 20-year-old student was sexually assaulted saturday morning. >> i'm shocked and it worries me a little bit. >> reporter: police say the attack happened about 1:20 in the morning. this is the 3200 block. police say the attacker, the

a blinding dust storm causes havoc on the highway in arizona. police say there were three different pilots involving two dozen cars. one person was killed, 15 others were injured t heavy dust prevented helicopters from flying accident victims to the hospital. a missing 10 month old girl, an amber alert has been issued for lisa irwin. police believe an intruder came into her bedroom window and abducted her after she was put to bed for the night.
