i'm don scott. >> i'm jessica kartalija. here is what people will be talking about today. severe storm system in to the region. tim williams is tracking first warning live doppler weather radar. good afternoon. active morning and afternoon shaping up here. a severe warning in effect until 11:45, up in harford, the storm system, is last portion is bringing very, very strong activity. take a look at the brighter colors, these are all moving, all the pockets here embedded within the system, moving in around 30 miles per hour to the northeast. you will hear thunder out of this and probably see lightning. it starts to move through.

westminster activity as is frederick. finksburg, carroll county, seeing the system. after it moves out, things will improve. a low pressure system out of the region. the winds will pick up tomorrow through tonight in to tomorrow, winds could be gusting up to 50 miles per hour when this gets out of here. a lot going on this afternoon, we will keep you posted and your complete forecast in a few moments. while we are talking about storms, peopleel are cleaning up from one in virginia. one tore a roof off of a plantation house. a dozen homes were damaged including that one which dates back to 1746. that's the same area the epi center of the earthquake in august. nationwide search continues for a young boy whose mother was founded murdered in the montgomery county home. police charged her estranged husband with her murder.

weijia jiang has the first pictures of the suspect. >> reporter: police were hoping they would find the 11-year-old with the suspect. this afternoon, they are no closer to finding that little boy. police are scrambling to uncover clues that could lead them to 11-year-old william, an amber alert has the country on watch. >> my hope is that he maybe with a family member or a friend, perhaps has no idea that -- what has occurred with his mother. >> reporter: his mother, 51- year-old jane, was found dead inside her bedroom wednesday night in the 13-100 block of briar cliff terrace. police realized her son was missing. he hasn't been to class since september. neighbors hasn't seen them for

two weeks. >> we waved, that was it. >> reporter: her estranged husband, curtis lopez, is in custody charged with her murder. authorities used cell phone records to fine lopez at a charlotte lodge with her car. there was no trace of william. the investigation now spans to east coast. detectives from montgomery county are working in north carolina. they admit as time passes finding the boy unharmed becomes more of a long shot. >> i hope he hasn't killed him. i swear to god i do. i hope they haven't. oh, god. >> reporter: police shifted their energy to finding william, he is 5 feet tall and 85 u pounds. they are not revealing what if anything lopez is saying about the boy's whereabouts. >> wjz 13 is following the story. we will bring you new

information as we get it. a school bus and car collide in northeast baltimore city. four people and two children are taken to hospitals. it happened at 8:30. both drivers were taken to the hospital as well. we are told no one is seriously injured. >> the other kids that were on the bus didn't suffer injuries. another school bus secured them from the scene. >> there is no word if damp streets were a factor in the crash. a man is shot several times inside a busy downtown parking garage. it will gunman is on the loose. ron matz has ha the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: the man was shot in the back in a garage in the heart of the university of maryland baltimore campus. it happened last night at the university plaza garage on west redwood street. happened before 6:00 p.m. detectives say it may have been a robbery and appears the victim was chosen at random. according to our media partner, the baltimore sun, the victim

was a 45-year-old frederick county resident reportedly a patient at the university of maryland medical center. police have no suspects in the case. back to you. thank you. the victim has now been upgraded from critical to serious condition. federal authorities make a bunnive of arrests trying to take down a major gang. those are involved in a offshoot of the bloods gang from california, operating here in maryland. the organized crime reaching in to four cities. >> we need to make sure they are send ow of the state to federal prison. when we leave them in local facilities they are able to influence fellow gang members. 9 were arrested. 11 more are behind bars. police need your help in finding a man who is armed and

a man accused of killing 8 people in the southern california hair salon showed signs of instability lt he warning barged in wednesday killing his ex-wife and 7 others. people who knew the couple say they were in a bitter custody battle. the victim reportedly told a relative her ex-husband walked in to the salon and threatened to kill her and co-workers. man accused of murder and two girls is found guilty. two men broke in to a family's home, raped and strangled a woman and molested her 11-year- old daughter. both girls were tied up and died when the house was set on fire. the doctor was the only one to survive the attack. >> there is occasional moments
