the investigation and the search. >> reporter: the alleged murder is behind bars. his friends are saying that they are praying and hoping that their son is returned safely. it's been 2 weeks since william mccain has been at school. but his friends and football teammates haven't stopped thinking about him. >> we want to pray that we can bring this child home. >> at a vigil in montgomery county, community hopes police find william safe. his mother, 51-year-old jane was found stabbed and beaten to death in their german townhome on wednesday. an amber alert was issued once police discovered william was nowhere to be found. on thursday his stepfather, 45- year-old curtis low's wilson was arrested for her murder in north carolina, still no williams. she said she had been arguing with lopez who had just come

another shooting creates alarm on the university of maryland's baltimore campus, the gunman who robbed and shot a man in the parking garage is still on the loose tonight. why some are criticizing the university's response to the crime. >> the area is opposite the main interest of the hospital. it's swarming. >> oh, yeah, whole street was blocked off. everything, ambulances. it was good. >> a man has been shot, details are movie gar. >> no, i've got a trip to preliminary, i don't have any suspect description. >> the president of police put down information on his twitter page saying the victim is a patient who was arriving for an operation and was robbed and shot three times then he was previously stabbed in a home invasion and lack of description of the suspect should out weigh to the citizens of baltimore, especially when those working on campus weren't if i recallly

notified. >> word of mouth. my mom actually called me just to make sure out of harm's way. >> this university put out a broadcast saying don't go to this garage where any of those texting systems alert. >> we did not use our text alert system. that was a very localized accident. >> the chief says there are now extra patrols when we were in the garage we did see parking personnel walking the floors under ground. this afternoon a university e- mail goes out to those on campus. in all not enough information to calm fears here. >> maybe it's not as secure as we thought or originally thought. >> released police report show the man was 48 and he was assaulted as he was getting out of his benz s500, the keys still in the ignition. he was shot three times in the back. his condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.

>> campus police say there have been two violent incidents on their 64-acre campus in the past 2 years. this baltimore police officer is on the other side of the law arrested for domestic violence. he's accused in an attack that happened last night. they aren't sharing many details the five-year veteran is suspended about pay. tornadoes carrying through virginia you can see the huge twister and threatening clouds. today the national weather service confirmed a tornado caused all of that damage. the storm ripped trees out of the ground and tore roofs off some homes. no one was seriously hurt. in new york city and across the country, police confront antiwall street protesters on the violent show down. >> hundreds of soggy occupy wall street demonstrators settle in for the rainy weekend. >> i'm here for however long it

takes. >> demonstrator won a small victory, they backed off plans to force them out to clean the park they've been living in for weeks. >> we were prepared to get arrested if it came to that. >> new york's mayor wasn't pleased with local politicians who called for the cleaning to be postponed. >> if those officials would spend half as much time trying to promote the city and get jobs to come here, we would go a long ways to answering the concerns of the protesters. >> reporter: earlier the most peaceful demonstration turned text when protesters marched into the stock exchange. there were 15 arrests and at least one injury when a demonstrator's foot was hit by nypd motorcycle. protesters here hope the whole world have been watching. demonstrations are expected in 950 cities saturday and what's being called an international day of action.

he says he's trying the improvement the students made during his tenure. the man in charge of baltimore -- in charge of baltimore city schools is making decisions tonight. dr. andres will roll out a plan to close at least a dozen schools in the next 2 years. the schools targeted will have a low student enrollment. he has already closed 12 under performing schools. a maryland girl goes prime time. she's just 11 years old. she's already appearing on a new cbs hit show. wjz is live and pat sat down with the family to watch the little girl's big debut. >> pat, that's exciting. >> reporter: it was very exciting. a gifted man finding a gifted girl in the area. and we get to see what she can do. >> it's the worst possible circumstances for tasha.

finally back on the field for game for sunday. they're roaring to get off houston texans. coach john harbaugh brought his team in for the final practice of the week. there are still are some players injured like receiver lee evans who is unlikely to play. he still has a ankle injury. they'll face a texan team that is decimated by injuries. they're hungry to get back into game action for the first time in 2 weeks. >> everybody knows what the nfl is about. it's about the ability to execute. coming off a by week and come out there and play at a play level. >> we had a great week of practice, great game plan going in. the hard work translates on sunday. >> and on sunday the reigns are going to wear a patch on their helmet, the initials say pat who passed away this week.
